This unique design relies primarily on solar power to create the energy needed to provide year-round comfort and to provide complete independence from the islands' electric utility! Located high above Coral Bay in the popular community of Upper Carolina, Satinwood is truly a 'one-of-a-kind' vacation home for visitors wanting to get away from the crowds! This very unique home is completely self sufficent and does not rely on any public utility on St. John. The home does not have any connection to the electric utility on St. John, but utilizes a system consisting of solar panels, storage batteries, DC to AC Inverters and a back-up diesel generator to insure reliable and earth-friendly energy at all times day or night! With all of its conservation oriented design, Satinwood provides discriminating guests with all of the conveniences and comforts expected in a private vacation accommodation on St. John.
Guests arriving at Satinwood will be greeted by the inviting, sculpted swimming pool and fabulous surrounding deck complete with lounge chairs for sunning and a six person table with umbrella for alfresco dining - all arranged against the background of the awe-inspiring views to the East. The main house features a great room complete with comfortable furniture and an 'entertainment wall' consisting of a flat screen HD TV with cable TV connection, DVD player, CD player, stereo audio system, books, puzzles and games. The fully equipped kitchen is complete with energy efficient appliances and all the necessary items to prepare snacks to full meals. Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining area with table and chairs with seating for eight. The large glass wall with sliding glass door leads from the main area to a private veranda where a gas BBQ grill and several comfortable lounge chairs are located.
Satinwood offers comfortable sleeping accommodations for up to ten guests. There are two master bedrooms located adjacent to the Great Room consisting of one king size bed and full en suite bathrooms with tiled, walk-in showers. Each master bedroom also has a loft sleeping area complete with two twin beds. There is a ceiling fan in each bedroom and floor/table fans located in the lofts. There is a complete studio apartment with full kitchen, a king sized bedroom with en suite bath with shower located on the lower level of the home. There is a sitting area featuring comfortable chairs, a TV with DVD player, small audio system and ceiling fan. Satinwood is named for the large tree (which may be the last one on the island) growing out of the lower deck. Just as this rare species of tree has become unique to St. John so will be your vacation experience at Satinwood!

Seasonal Rates displayed on this site are for the use of two (2) bedrooms + Lofts by 1 or 4 guests. Contact Manager for rates for the use of additional bedrooms and/or additional guests.
Christmas/New Year's Holiday Rates are for the use of 3 Bedrooms + Lofts by 1 to 10 guests. If both 12/25 and 12/31 are requested, then a 10 night minimum stay maybe required.
A cleaning fee of $175 to $450 may be charged for approved stays of less than the posted minimum night stay requirements.
