Patricia and Simon, My husband and I had the most wonderful time of our vacation, and surgery recovery there at house Estrella. Someday soon we hope to come back to visit with you to see how the beautiful garden has grown. The animals were also a welcomed addition to the property, and the privacy greatly appreciated. Howler monkeys, and flocks of parakeets gently woke us every morning. It was just lovely. We both also loved the colors you chose to decorate the house with. The bed covers, and tiles seemed to mimic all the gorgeous colors around the garden, and the country itself nicely. There are many aspects that complete the perfect vacation, and with all the elements aligning properly, this was, hands down, our best vacation thus far. Just a short walk from the white sand beaches, and even getting to Montezuma was so easy. We appreciate all the help when we needed it too. The map you provided us with to get town was very helpful. Also the list of local animals, and birds helped me to identify many of the things we saw at the time of our visit. Let me also say that I really think you are great people, and the right owners for this property. It feels very comfortable, and loved. There is a feeling of such peace there that made us feel as if we too belonged there. Thank you both for everything. We will be back. Our main goal at this moment is recovery from surgery, then the next get away. Hugs, and kisses. Richie and Darcie.

Nature lovers paradise.
Nature lovers paradise.
We stayed at Estrella during the low season between 9/5-10/8 and it was a dream. It was sunny and warm during the day and would rain every night. It was incredible. To lay there at night listening to tropical storms, to then wake up to sunshine while howler monkeys greeting us to the day. The wildlife was like nothing I'd ever seen. In the morning we would have our morning yummy Costa Rica coffee in the hammock and watch the life of the jungle all around us. This was one of our favorite spots. Patricia and Simon planted this beautiful flowering bush that attracted all the gorgeous wildlife right next to our hammock. From huge Costa Rica butterfly's to hummingbirds the size of your thumbnail. Creatures I've never even seen that had so much beauty. The layout and design of the house couldn't have been more perfect. It was open, tropical, romantic, clean and we felt right at home. The attention to detail was incredible. Patricia and Simon did an amazing job. Everyday we would just walk around the property or to the beach and see howler monkeys, iguanas, coati, racoons, geckos, White-faced Capuchin, Agouti. We would go to the local farmers markets, visited Vin pescado "the local fish guy" in town and made some amazing food in the fully equipped kitchen. The house is private, however Patricia and Simon are close by if we ever needed anything. They were very helpful and friendly during our stay. They gave us maps and gave us a tons of good tips that helped make our vacation great. The property is secured with a gate; we felt very safe during our stay. We are adventure seekers at times so we did it all. Rented a quad in town and went through the jungle to get to other beach towns, did canopy zip lining, horseback riding to waterfalls, snorkeling. We had a lot of adventures but it was always nice to come home to our beautiful, relaxing vacation spot. Patricia and Simon are amazing people and they have but a lot of effort into creating a private, beautiful, romantic home for vacationers to enjoy. It was such an incredible adventure. Thank you Patricia and Simon for your hospitality and for sharing the magical place you have created.

It is hard even looking at the pictures of this place, because it makes me homesick for it! When we arrived at Estrella my jaw literally dropped. I thought I had won the lottery. The place is gorgeous, extremely clean, beautifully designed, and away from the hustle and bustle of life. We woke up every morning and made our juice and breakfast surrounded by only the sounds of the monkeys and birds outside, before setting out for one of the two close-by towns for hiking, ocean swimming, and exploring. Estrella made us slow down and enjoy our days and feel like we had a home away from home (although this one is so much more beautiful than ours!) I was concerned about there being no a/c and only the one main fan in the bedroom, especially since we were going in the wet season, but it was totally fine. The nights were cool and the open concept of the house kept the place fresh. We even closed up everything and turned off the fan when we left every day, and it was still very comfortable when we returned and opened everything back up. I would go back again in a second, and I miss this place terribly. The owners, Patricia and Simon, are always nearby if you need them, but leave you to enjoy yourself in privacy. Just go already, and relax in the jungle...I would if I could again!!!

beautiful house surrounded by a heavenly garden
beautiful house surrounded by a heavenly garden
We spent a week at the beautiful house Estrella and would love to come back some day. The house is clean, brand new, beautifully styled and yet simple and down to earth. The owners, Patricia and Simon, have picked every detail with care and have arranged a magnificent garden which will only get better with time. They told us about the plants and trees they chose and explained what animals we can see at what time of day. We saw capuchin and howler monkeys, and many hummingbirds, drinking from the plant right next to the hammock. Patricia and Simon respected our privacy, but were always available if we needed them. They gave us milk and rice when we didn't have any and even did our laundry in the middle of our stay. We couldn't have asked for better landlords! Thank you very much, Patricia and Simon! Los Cedros beach is a very short walk away and is a great spot to see the sunrise. We would spend almost every morning there and had the beach all to ourselves. We had rented a car, so we drove to Montezuma every day. We saw many people make the walk to the village and it seemed doable, but we were too lazy. From Montezuma, the 25-minute walk to playa Grande is absolutely worth it. This was our favorite beach. We took a surfing lesson there, did the horseback tour to el Chorro waterfall, and spent one more day just enjoying playa Grande. The best place to eat in Montezuma is Cocolores. I am sure some of the other places we didn't try are also fine, but we just liked the atmosphere at Cocolores. We have so many happy memories and we want to come back for more. You will have an unforgettable vacation.

An enchanting and secluded sanctuary, House Estrella is perfect in almost every way for couples looking to relax. The gracious owners, Simon and Patricia, have obviously put their heart and soul into the creation of this property and their vision has fallen into place at House Estrella. The gorgeous bungalow is surrounded by beautiful native landscaping and active wildlife. During our stay at Estrella, we saw Capuchin monkeys, Coatis, Howler monkeys, raccoons, agoutis, iguanas, and multiple species of birds. It's location is great to get away from the hustle and bustle of Montezuma. Cabuya is the same distance away, however, we found Montezuma restaurants, grocery, and shopping to be more suitable for our lifestyle as they offered more of a variety. It's a very beautiful walk either way with an ocean view the whole time. The walk takes about 30-45 minutes depending on your pace. The road is dusty (as we were here in the dry season) and the drivers tend to be oblivious to your presence, so be safe and watch for traffic. Sometimes you can walk the majority of the way on the beach depending on the tide, but it usually adds about 20-30 minutes. There is a bus that is SOMEWHAT reliable that costs $1 per person. Taxis are usually very easy to catch in Montezuma and cost about $5-10 to get back to the bungalow. Los Cedros beach is just down the road (less than 5 minutes) from the bungalow. There are tons of rocks so it's tough to find a place to swim even at high tide. Patricia and Simon gave us a helpful tip of going at low tide and getting familiar with the layout so you can find the areas that are better for swimming. The beach is perfect for walks, finding shells, sunbathing, and the sunrises are a must! Simon and Patricia add a unique flavor to this place as they are helpful, kind, and dynamic. They have made House Estrella very comfortable and keep it very clean. They offer weekly cleaning and even do your laundry (hung dry in the Costa Rican breeze! We stayed 1 week in Santa Teresa and paid $12 to get our laundry done, so this was a very nice addition!) They are generous and hospitable (even called taxis to pick us up and drop us off at the airport!) They make it a point upon arrival to help you get you familiar with the area and give you all the "hot spots" (grocery, restaurants, bakeries, shops, attractions, bus schedules, etc.). Their kindness will move you and inspire you to treat others the way the treat their guests.

I am tempted to write a terrible review so that we can keep this place for ourselves! Sarah, my bride-to-be , and I were the first official renters of this wonderful home-away-from-home. It's beautiful. The building is brand new, carefully constructed, tastefully decorated and outfitted with absolutely everything you need. It is a short walk to a mostly deserted beach, a short drive or long after dinner walk to or from Montezuma. There is great hiking near by but if you just want to escape the cold and hangout in the tropics this place is perfect. It is not suited for the all-inclusive set but perfect for couples looking for a stylish oasis off the beaten path. Some of our favourite memories from a month in CR is cooking up fresh fish and lounging in the hammock drinking wine under the stars. Patricia and Simon, the owners, designers and builders, are super-friendly and French. They are also fluent in English and Spanish. They showed us where we could buy fresh local fish up the road (make a left at the first broken surfboard nailed to a tree) , recommended the finest ocean side restaurant ('not cheap but not expensive' - I think we ate there 3 times in one week) and gave us homemade maps of the area and legends for the wildlife that wanders past through out the day. We can't wait to return. Thanks Patricia and Simon for making us feel so welcome and for sharing your piece of paradise. We shall be back again soon. Gavin and Sarah

Can´t wait to come back !!!!!
Can´t wait to come back !!!!!
It is our 4th visit to Costa Rica these past few years. One of our favorite place is Montezuma. We always stay at Solyluna bungalows, and this year the owners Patricia and Simon bought the land next door to Solyluna and created house Estrella when we saw the pictures..... we decided this time to rent the house. No regrets.... the house is perfect and clean in a big beautiful garden with animals. We fellt at home very quickly, we stayed one month and could spent all day in and around the house. We like to make some nice dinners for ourselves and the kitchen is really very functional. My husband best moment of the day when he came back from the beach, that is only two steps away, and he could take his shower in the back garden just next to the bananatrees. There is a hammock on the terrace and one in the backgarden so you can relax where ever you want.We liked the space around the house, we really felt to be on our own property. We had a car for a month but we did a lot of walking. Estrella is in between Montezuma and Cabuya so during the day we went to visit Isla Cabuya, we went to buy the fish to the fisherman, eat at the local restaurants and of course we visit the reserve of Cabo Blanco (2 km from Cabuya). We where happy to have a car some nights to enjoy some of the different restaurants in Montezuma. Patricia and Simon live next door and help you and give you all the advise you need as they always did for us. Can´t wait to come back !!!!!!!

Piece of paradise

My girlfriend and I stayed 1 week in this beautifull house and the experience we lived remained in a great place in our memories. The comfort, the design (the owners are interior designer and photograph ...), the quietness, the intimity, the animals, the beach, the region ... We truly lived there our best experience that 2nd week of our Costa Rica trip. We appreciated the help we received to plan our stay. Montezuma was a great discovery, so relaxed, so layed back. Surfing in Mal Pais, just 30 minutes drive in the jungle completed our list of great moments. We highly recommend this place !

We just came back from our 3 weeks honeymoon in Costa Rica and Estrella was by far our favorite place. It was perfect it has everything you could need, this house ans this place is truly magical. Patricia and Simon the owner live next door, they are great, very helpful. They will help you where to eat, where to go, what to see and when. It is clear that they have put their souls into this house. I was blown away by the details everywhere you look. It was great to find a place that felt warm, safe and very confortable. The location is perfect for accessing either Montezuma or Cabo Blanco national Park ans it is only 5 minutes walk from a beautiful beach. Highly recommended for a romantic experience in Costa Rica.

We stayed in "Estrella" the last week of october. This was the best Costa Rica experience. The house is set only 300 meters 5 minutes walk from a beautiful and wild beach Los Cedros. Set in a large property with all sorts of unique wildlife to see and hear. The house is gorgeous, safe, very confortable and spotless. If you enjoy peaceful, nature surrounding it is the perfect place. Location is ideal 2 miles from Montezuma, 2 miles to Cabuya and Cabo Blanco reserve. We didn't need a car we just took the bus, cabs and walk... We can't wait to go back for a return visit! Thank you Patricia and Simon
