Il Mulino delle Capannacce nestles in the Pierle Valley under the gaze of Pierle Castle and its medieval village. It is surrounded by a wide variety of deciduous trees and shrubs, it is well situated for anyone who enjoys a gentler pace, wandering through abundant woodlands and meadows and discovering local Italian life.
Il Mulino delle Capannacce is an Old Mill which has recently been restored and has been converted into three lovely apartments with a private swimming pool. The Old Mill is only 800 metres from Trattoria Mimmi's and Apartment Aldo.
The ground floor apartment "La Loggia" has a large living room with an open fireplace dating from 1853 - TV satellite, a large kitchen with dishwasher and dining area, a communal washing machine, two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an Al fresco dining area. It is possible to add two more beds with a divan bed (in the living room).
The first floor apartment "La Torretta" has a kitchen/dining room with dishwasher, TV satellite, and communal washing machine. There are also one double-rooms and one double room plus one single bed, two bathrooms, and an Al fresco dining area-patio.
"Il Granaio" is an independent apartment next to the Mulino which has just been refurbished. It has a pretty kitchen with dishwasher and dinning area with a small fireplace and TV satellite, a communal washing machine, a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Il Granaio can be rented independently or would be ideal for two people who want a little privacy whilst staying close to friends or family.
Here in Mercatale, we have a "Trattoria Mimmi" which is only 800 metres from Il Mulino. Mimmi is in quiet location with the advantages of village life, also an open countryside behind the pool and garden area with excellent view of hills and the ruined of the Castle of Pierle.
At Mimmi's there are three double rooms, one family and one single room with en-suite facilities, which are spacious with big comfortable beds. Across the street from Mimmi’s we have the apartment "Aldo," which has a spacious sitting/dining room, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a small kitchen/diner. At Mulino delle Capannacce, we have spacious parking secured by Remote Electronic gates. Our guests may use the swimming pool and booking the tennis court.
We can deliver home made food from Mimmi's to Il Mulino. Cooking lessons are also available: #1 How made pasta; #2 start with lasagna and cannelloni; and #3 you cooking and test your pasta.
Mercatale di Cortona is on the Tuscan/Umbrian border and has a convenient location, is near Cortona (only 19 Km), is only 15 minutes away from the Florence to Perugia Superstrada, making visits to Siena (50 km.), Perugia (40 km.),Trasimeno Lake (12 km.),Gubbio (40 km.), Assisi (45 km.), Spello (43 km.) all within one hour's drive. The nearest town is Cortona (19 km.) which is featured by Frances Mayes in "Under the Tuscan Sun" and "Bella Tuscany." We can also arrange for a taxi to collect you at the airport or train station. Florence is only one and a half hours by train, Rome is only two hours by train, rail station is only 20 minutes from Mercatale, it is possible a day trip to Florence or to Rome. |
