This property was all that was promised and more! What you see in the pictures is what it is-no surprises! I spent two weeks at this property and felt very much at home. The apartment was VERY clean! I used all the appliances and they are excellent. The kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans, dishes and utensils as well as coffee, tea (which was greatly appreciated when coming back to the apartment after a couple of hours in the rain!), cooking oil, herbs and spices. The market 1-1/2 blocks from the apartment is very convenient for families that want to cook during their stay. The owner was wonderful to work with--responding to e-mails the same day (sometimes within an hour). The owner also provided an extensive list of restaurants, activities and hints for the traveller. The location in Nob Hill is perfect-only two blocks from all three cable car lines as well as bus lines-which was perfect for my family as we used the Muni for the entire stay! I have stayed at a VRBO property in the past and this was the BEST experience by far! My family cannot wait until our next visit to San Francisco--and we will definitely stay here again!!

This is a gorgeous apartment which comes complete with built-in travel guide! The owner provided us with comprehensive tips on where to go, what to see and where to eat, before we arrived, which was extremely helpful. The apartment was beautifully appointed, had everything we needed to enjoy our stay and was in a fabulous position. Would highly recommend it.

Perfect treasure on Nob Hill!

We spent a short week in this spectacular pied a terre on Nob Hill! It is a lovely apartment for a small family of 3, but accommodated easily another couple later in the week! EVERYTHING was thought of, from the wonderful bed linens, to the chocolates on the bedside tables and the entry hall. The kitchen and the courtyard are beyond description and the view from the front window is amazing. You cannot find a better place to stay in all of San Francisco! I HIGHLY recommend this place and James' level of service and attention is second to none. You will NOT be disappointed! We WILL be back! Thanks so much, James, for a sharing your gem...

James was very accommodating as we arrived a day early and were able to check in early! The apartment was lovely and I enjoyed cooking and entertaining my friends there. It is a great central location, and nicely furnished. The outside garden is beautiful. It was very charming to see the flowers when cooking. We especially loved his doggies! They are as sweet as James. Many thanks for a wonderful place to stay in beautiful San Francisco.

James: We can't thank you enough for a wonderful experience in our favorite city. Your home felt like our fantastic escape with the amazing decor, fantastic location, and abundant privacy. Your effort and attention to detail made this trip truly perfect. The location suggestions, weather advice, and best of all 'spot on' restaurant recommendations were life savors! Sushi Rapture - AMAZING!!! Thank you for sharing your home and your city with us. It was like a dream. PS: Tried crab fishing at Kirby Cove with surprising success. Left the traps for the next family to enjoy. Tell them - Gus' Bait Tackle bait shop... stay away from the rocks, and crush the bait. ( :

We were 4 ladies celebrating a 50th birthday. This flat was perfectly located for our food and wine travels throughout the city. The owners kept the old world appeal while tastefully updating its interior for maximum comfort. The pictures are really what it looks like. There are plenty of areas for stretching out and relaxing during the day too. James went out of his way to make sure our needs were met and we were happy.....and we were! I would highly recommend this flat to anyone looking for a great San Francisco stay and experience!

Love love love everything about my stay here. Chandeliers, claw foot bathtub, great view of the city, free parking, & The Grace Cathedral only walking distance, what more could you ask for??!! I loved everything about this vacation rental, & will be back every time I’m in San Francisco. I have to admit, you won’t want to leave.

This is the second time I stay at this beatiful. Everything on the website is accurate and the pics and location are great! Staying here was like staying in a beautiful luxury home. Everything was amazing including the furniture and decor. Very clean and tighty. Close to downtown and lots to do This is going to be a place I will call as my "Home away from Home" since I do travel to SF quite a bit. The price is right and the location is execellent. I would recommend it to anybody that wants to visit San Francisco.

An amazing first time in SF

I just got back from an amazing New Years weekend stay in SF at this Nob Hill residence rental. I am a big "Yelper" so I felt the need to come on here and rate a review of this wonderful place. I found out about this rental through a friend of mine who stayed there and highly recommended it. I was a little weary of staying in a residence rental as I've never done so before, but this stay changed my mind about that. The owner of the home was very quick to respond and helpful, not only when booking this place but through my whole stay. It was my first time in SF so I was full of questions, which the renter/home owner was more than amazing at answering. He suggested the best tips and ideas to make my stay perfect. The rental was as perfect as the city and all its wonders. A couple of my close friends accompanied me, and it slept us all very nicely with plenty of room to spare. Without a doubt, I highly recommend this place.

Great centrally located apartment

Our family of 5 ( 3 kids aged 4,9 and 11 yrs) stayed for one week over Christmas. The apartment was just as described on the website and easily accommodated our family. Easy walk to Chinatown ( 7 mins there downhill and about 12 mins back uphill) and about 15 mins walk to Union square. The parking outside the apartment was really handy. James, the owner was lovely and very prompt with any email enquiries. The apartment had a great kitchen which we made full use of as eating out with 3 children after a day of sightseeing was not always an option. Everything you could need from a spice rack to coffee beans with percolator was provided. We have stayed at many holiday apartments and this would have to rank amongst the best in terms of location, charm and comfort and service . I would definitely recommend this apartment as a base for your next San Francisco stay.

Great way to experience San Francisco

This was our first time renting an apartment vs staying in a hotel and we recommend it as a good way to see another side of the city. Nob hill is a great location complete with neighbourhood restaurants and ridiculously steep hills with great views on all sides so it's a good choice as a place to stay. James is an excellent host and the apartment is very well equipped including with a Christmas tree in our case - we stayed the week before Christmas - which is the kind of nice touch you can expect from James.

Our experience at 'The Residence' at Nob Hill, was wonderful. From initial contact with James, he was prompt and extremely helpful. He sincerely considers it his job to ensure your stay in his apartment (and his city) is fantastic - answering any questions and providing a wealth of information to ensure that's just what happens. We were a family of five with three children (4, 6 and 8). The apartment was perfect for our needs and lovely to be staying somewhere that was so welcoming and with the space we needed after having had some 'close' quarters in hotel rooms. With lovely touches like fresh flowers, chocolates and a lovely bottle of wine it was delightful. We could walk everywhere we needed to go and the apartment is just around the corner from a great park that the children loved. I can't recommend 'The Residence' highly enough!

We met James after a four star hotel in the area had no availability for the remainder of our stay in San Francisco. James was more than a gracious host, with a bottle of sparkling wine and chocolates waiting for us on our arrival. The flat is stunning. It is beautifully decorated and even better fully functional. While only 3 of us were in the flat for our trip, 6 people easily can stay in the home without feeling cramped. The flat is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, etc. for all your cooking needs, as well as front loading washers and dryers. The location is prime on a quiet street in Nob Hill and a short walk to many San Francisco attractions in the area. The free parking space is key - most hotels in the area charge over $50 per day to valet the car and most garages start at $35 per day. We often travel to San Francisco, as my husband is from the Bay area. We have stayed in many wonderful accommodations in the city, but this is one of the best, for the luxury, cost, convenience, and warm hospitality provided by James. Be sure to ask him about the city; he made some great recommendations! We will definitely be back to San Francisco and you better believe we will be staying here. Thanks, James!

A big thank you to James for his great hospitality in the lead up and while on our stay in SF. The apartment looked great to us when we found it on VRBO, and it certainly delivered for our family of 2 adults and 3 children (aged 9, 7 & 3). Nob Hill is a fantastic location and allowed us to explore the city by car and foot. After realising how close Nob Hill was to downtown SF, Union Square and Fishermans Wharf, we were thrilled with the location. The quality of the apartment is excellent and allowed us to feel at home in comfortable beds, heating, laundry, kitchen and a great courtyard area. We had a great holiday in California, and our final 5 days in Nob Hill really topped it off. We couldn't recommend this residence more highly, so enjoy!

It was my first time in San Fran, but it won't be my last. The home is impeckabley decorated and James met every detail. If you are up for a nice pampering, this is a must.

We had a wonderful time and a terrific experience in San Francisco. . James 's apartment was perfect in every way.First James greeted us when we first arrived. The fridge had a bottle of sparkling wine ;->. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee condiments etc. The entire apartment was in perfect order and beautiful. Everything that you would want in your home home was available to you,wireless internet, cable tv, toaster, microwave etc. The pictures shown do not do it justice. The outside flower garden was magnificent. We ate in local restaurants that James recommended they were all very good. we followed some of his advise from the guide he email us and wound up seeing things we never experienced on previous visits to San Francisco. Would highly recommend staying here when you visit San Francisco.

This is the best way to visit a great city. We rented a car and this great apartment. The place was very clean and charming and very private. The location is ideal, overlooking China Town and the financial district, this neighborhood is safe. A comparable hotel suite would cost much much more and not be half the experience.

Spectacular Stay in San Francisco

I cannot say enough about this wonderful flat in San Francisco. It started with the adorable halloween decorations at the entry, the beautiful flowers and sparkling wine in the foyer all the way through to the zen like garden. Everything was spotless, tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. The kitchen appliances were modern and enabled me to actually cook a delicious breakfast for my family that we enjoyed in the garden. James was wonderful and even came through with a charger for my son's iphone. The bed was very comfortable, the linens and towels were plentiful and top notch. This flat went beyond what any 5 star hotel offers in that it felt like home. We will definitely be back and have recommended this home to many of our friends who visit their relatives in San Francisco. Thank you James for your beautiful home and hospitality.

My wife and I rented the apartment for three weeks in September, and we found it to be great. We enjoyed our stay very much. The photos are accurate, the apt. was very clean and well stocked. James was extremely helpful and solicitous. The garden is an extra treat - we had some meals there. The location is great, Nob Hill has a friendly neighborhood atmosphere and is in central San Fran..

From first inquiry to final farewell, James played the part of host extraordinaire! Communication was prompt and friendly, and all the additional "tips" provided by James made the visit that much more special. As others have noted, the location at the top of Nob Hill is perfect--close to cable cars, buses, and within walking distance of a world of excellent choices for dining, shopping, and sightseeing. The free parking is a real treat (and easily saves you $50 a day compared to hotel valet rates). The apartment itself must be seen to be believed. You instantly feel embraced by its quintessential San Franciscan ambiance. The care taken in the remodeling is abundantly evident in every detail; and the spotlessly clean interior speaks for the owner's emphasis on first-class quality. The kitchen is stocked so thoroughly that all your culinary needs are anticipated. And a garden of this caliber is a real rarity in the city, and perfectly tended to boot! And the bed (with its plethora of pillows) is amazingly comfortable--even for the restless sleeper in our group! Thank you, James! We've been to San Francisco many times over nearly 40 years, and you made this our best visit ever! We're already planning a return visit next summer! David & Beverly

Nob Hill Residence provides EXTRAORDINARY accommodations. From the moment we read the listing until we checked out, everything was perfect.The owner was prompt in returning inquiries about the apartment and flexible with different methods of payment (i.e. check, paypal). I really do not think I can totally express how perfect the Nob Hill Residence was for us (family of 5 ages 26-60). The fresh flower arrangement/vase was exquisite (as were all the flowers in the outdoor garden). The remodeling efforts were apparent in every room, in every nook and cranny. The owner left no stone unturned!!! The appliances are wonderful . . . and we used a lot of the herbs and olive oil!!! It was so perfect that our family was able to hang out together in such beautiful surroundings. This residence turned out to be a VERY comfortable place for us to reconnect for some quality family time. Much nicer than any hotel would have been. We were all pleased to meet James(and his very cute dogs!!!). We especially appreciated the several informative emails when we booked, and then again before we arrived. It made all the difference in the world. The owner, James, is a master at what he does! Staying in the neighborhood certainly gave us a nice SF feel, rather than staying in a hotel. We grocery shopped and ate at as many of the neighborhood places as we could fit in, and were pleased by all that we tried. For what it’s worth, I travel a lot both USA and International, and this was one of the finest places I have stayed. I am among those that would rate this property six stars if it were an option.

Extraordinary Flat with an incredible location.

What an exceptional property! It started to with the initial communication: prompt, professional, informative but friendly. We arrived and immediately where transported to the elegance and charm of San Francisco’s Nob Hill. The flat is had everything we could have possibly needed. The location is stupendous. We were able to walk almost everywhere (we even walked home from AT&T Park) and having a parking spot made side trips on a whim easy. The garden was a perfect place to sip morning coffee or a have a nightcap and winded down. James was better then any concierge. His listing of helpful tips: restaurants, grocery stores, sightseeing, everything was spot on. We had a phenomenal time and are looking for excuses to come back soon.

After spending a week at a very nice hotel in Fisherman's Wharf with a friend, my husband joined me for the second week and we moved into this beautiful Nob Hill apartment for 6 nights. There is little I can add to the wonderful reviews, except to say that they are all true, and not exaggerated at all! Attention has been paid to every little detail of the apartment, and the location is just perfect. We walked to almost every neighborhood from our door easily, and it was wonderful to have the car parked right out front when we went farther afield. The owner (James) could not have been more helpful, and although he was traveling this month, he made sure that we were well taken care of with instructions, directions, hints, and phone numbers in case of emergencies. We would not hesitate to return. My only regret is that we did not get to meet James in person, and tell him what an incredible job he has done with the apartment and the magnificent garden. I have traveled extensively, and I can honestly say that this is truly one of the loveliest, cleanest, most comfortable places that I have had the pleasure to stay in - I will be back!!

We had the most wonderful time in this cosy, tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean flat. We found absolutely everything and far beyond what you can expect from a flat rental. The flat is spacious, the bed is magic, the garden is delightful, there is a very convenient free parking (priceless in San Francisco!!) and last but not least the owner is perfect!!! Truly.... without asking him he sent us one week before our arrival an extremely detailled memo of all the places we could go to have a nice dinner, shop, etc...and we tried some of them and he was right!!! And even though he was on holiday at the time of our visit, he had taken care of given us list of his friends we could contact if we needed any assistance...and guess what, we had so much of everything that we called nobody... we were home in San Francisco!!! The flat is located in a quiet neighborhood, in which you can find all the stores you need to live like a local and at the same time you can easily reach all the tourist places you need as a tourist!!! Should we go back to San Francisco, we would not hesitate an instant.... We'll be back!!!

I just don't think you could find a better place to stay if you want to see all the sights in San Francisco. You can easily walk to public transportation, many historic sites, easy access to stores and restaurants. James, you recommended the little Italian place down on Jones and Broadway (Allegro Romano) and let me tell you, they treated us RIGHT! Best meal any of us have ever had I think! The books you have in the apartment were interesting and gave us lots of ideas of things to see and do. Everything was fully stocked for six, the appliances are very nice, and there really just isn't anything to improve upon. Our only disappointment was not getting to meet you and your dogs after reading so many rave reviews. I had fun visiting with your lovely "house sitter" out in the garden though. :-)

My husband and I spent 5 nights in this beautiful apartment. The location, attention to detail and cleanliness (it was immaculate and all the linens smelled fresh and clean) definitely make it a 5 Star offering and the parking space is a huge bonus! We were fortunate to have it all to ourselves which made it even better. James is an excellent host, readily available, easy to talk to and very friendly. There was no question that it was important to him that we have a 5 Star experience and we did. The description and photos accurately reflect this listing. We would definitely recommend this property.

"Last" Family vacation was perfect....

Our family-3 early twentys daughters and parents were completely pleased with this flat. I drank my coffee outside in the garden watching the birds each morning. Having Residence Nob Hill as our home base put us at ease because proximity to sites we wanted to see could not have been better. We were in the thick of things, but on a quiet street and could stop back in just to freshen up or take a break at any time. We walked a lot but we also drove a lot and parking on Clay street was so appreciated. This is one of the best trips this family has ever taken. We felt at home thanks to James's attention to details. Though we didn't cook because there were so many eating places we wanted to try, the kitchen was ready just in case. James' sites list was a great guide. We used it on arrival and ate at the Globe - a little dark for these 50 something eyes but the first of many fabulous meals. Next morning, we walked to the corner market. You can get everything there to put together any meal if you like. Two other places we loved were Boulette's Larder in the Ferry Building and Tartine Bakery and Cafe on Guerrero St. At Boulette's we ordered one of each item on their breakfast menu and shared. It has an open kitchen and a communal table. Tartine was worth the wait for breakfast, but we didn't get back for the bread (we are bakers) that comes out of the oven at 5pm and when it's gone, it's gone! The Bi Rite Ice cream shop (also on James's list) is a couple blocks away and that was the high point for me. We stumbled upon a Friday Nightlife event at the California Academy of Sciences. Must be 21 with ID (which one of us did not have so we didn't go in) but would plan for it the next time. Will recommend this flat to any friends who may be traveling there. Couldn't have been happier.

This beautiful Nob Hill apartment is definitely a 5 Star (I’d give it more than 5 stars if I could). Staying in this lovely apartment really made our first visit to San Francisco a memorable one. Prior to booking, I read the reviews and all I can add is that the “glowing” reviews are warranted. This apartment is absolutely beautiful and is in a great location! James has thought of every amenity in this truly luxurious apartment. I only wish that we had planned our trip to stay longer! There is a wonderful Italian restaurant – Allegro Romano – within walking distance of the apartment. We were welcomed as if we were family and enjoyed an excellent dinner. We look forward to staying in James’ apartment on our next trip to San Francisco (now if only we weren’t clear across the country!).

I recently stayed at this Nob Hill residence and my experience was amazing! This condo is in a great location. This residence surpassed my expectation. It was beautifully decorated and very well maintained! My favorite was the outdoor sitting area. It was a very tranquil place to sit and relax after a long day. You know those worries, the ones where you think "This place sounds too good to be true...how can a vacation rental be that fantastic?" Well, leave those worries behind when you visit this fabulous home away from home in San Francisco. From the moment we walked up the stairs to this gorgeous flat, all my concerns flew away. It is everything you could ever want, and more. The decorations, the furnishings, the location, the owners, the sweet little dogs in the garden, oh, the garden. Our first morning there, sitting in the sunshine, drinking our coffee in this Oasis in San Fran, listening to the bells chime from Grace Cathedral, I literally had tears streaming down my face at the perfect bliss of it all. There is nothing in this apartment that leaves you wanting, except, of course, more time to enjoy it all. Our four days here was not nearly enough, and I cannot wait until we can come visit with you again. Thank you, James, for making this the most perfect vacation!

My Heart Stayed Behind ......

What an incredible experience. We had set our expectations very high and when we arrived, the apartment exceeded our highest hopes. Our host, Jim, met us on arrival and we had an instant rapport with him. This was enhanced further when we met his two precious dogs. As Marlene stated, we left our back door open when we were there during the week so the dogs could visit at will. The apartment was fully equipped with everything we needed and made our stay so relaxed. Being on top of Nob Hill provided a great view of part of the city and the hills (which were everywhere) gave us the exercise needed to work off the fabulous meals from the great San Francisco restaurants. Jim, thanks so much for your recommendations on where to go, what to see and for being a super host.. We enjoyed our time and you can truly "leave your heart in San Francisco".

What a wonderful stay we had at this vrbo. I would love to say that everyone should book a week here but then I'm afraid that I wouldn't be able to return to this fabulous place. It was so comfortable with all the amenities, the locale, the great restaurants within walking distance, and of course our wonderful host James who was there to help with anything we needed. The sleeping arrangements are wonderful, the three of us women each had our own sleeping area giving each of us our privacy, the kitchen is fully stocked and loved having the washer/dryer allowing us to pack lightly. I've been home for only a couple of days and I'm already missing my SanFran lifestyle. Thanks again James for a lovely place

We Left Our Hearts......

This is my fourth VRBO stay and is one of the best. We wanted three separate sleeping areas and this property afforded us that luxury. This location is fantastic (and very safe), around the corner from Grace Cathedral, the Fairmount and Mark Hopkins, the California cable car line (although it was down for maintenance) and one block to the Powell-Mason and Powell-Hyde cable cars (they were in service) which take you downtown or to the waterfront. The #1 bus goes right by the property. We loved everything we did (except possibly climbing a couple really, really steep hills, but we got our exercise in without going to the gym). It was great walking to most things, or taking public transportation (be sure and buy the $69 CityPass). Our great neighborhood restaurants were wonderful. The Hilltop Cafe and Allegro Romano were superb. We had to go to each twice during a 7 day visit! Don't forget to go see "Beach Blanket Babylon" and drive to Filoli House and Gardens in Woodside (a wonderful break if your feet hurt from all the City walking). Needless to say, we will return to our "home away from home". Everything was just "perfect" and Jim was the consumate host, even ordering 75 degree weather for us (love you Jim). He just made us so comfortable and looking down on his beautiful garden (and even sitting in it several evenings) was really special in the City. He even shared his wonderful little dogs with us. Loved leaving our back door open so they could come and go at will. Well, here's to wishing we were still in the City, enjoying our flat and acting like real San Franciscians. Thanks again, Jim, for our wonderful stay - we'll be back.

Our family came to San Francisco for the second time as we had booked to get married at Yosemite. We wanted a relaxing place to stay beforehand and couldnt have asked for a better place to stay or a better host. The flat was immaculate with everything we could have wished for, all the extra touches were well thought out and kind. The owner was generous with information,helpful and polite. We had a wonderful time the views and garden were amazing and the location ws peaceful but within easy walking distance to everything we required.San Francisco captured our hearts once again as did this apartment, the only downside was having to leave. We would definetly return again it is a home from home...Thank you James it was wonderful to meet you.

Fabulous apartment and location ... even better than expected

This apartment completely exceeded our expectations .... the decor, amenities, location and owner are all fabulous. It is luxuriously decorated and comfortable. Our family of four had lots of space to live in, and the kitchen was well stocked so that we had the option of cooking our own meals with all the conveniences of home. The garden is an oasis, and we loved watching the birds. The location is excellent, with some lovely cafes and restaurants, and many of San Francisco's main attractions, within walking distance. The owner was SO helpful, providing lots of information in advance of our trip and answering all of our questions during our stay. We would recommend all of the typical things to do in San Fran, but also .... go up to the top of Telegraph Hill and then walk down the Filbert Street stairs. Best bookstore ever is City Lights Booksellers and Publishers in North Beach. Dinner at the Nob Hill Cafe right around the corner. Ice cream at the BiRite Creamery followed by a stroll through Dolores Park. If you have time, a day trip to Muir Woods and Muir Beach, followed by dinner at the Pelican Inn is highly recommended (reservations might be helpful). The arcade museum in Fisherman's Wharf is tons of fun for adults and kids (take lots of quarters). We would highly recommend this apartment, and hope to visit again.

From the moment we walked into the beautifully decorated foyer to the moment that we sadly pulled the glass door closed behind us, we felt enveloped in warmth and luxury at this lovely San Francisco apartment. James has thought of every detail from the tasteful furniture, draperies, and pillows, to the modern high-end kitchen - no amenity was left missing. Candles, soaps, lotions, luxurious sheets and towels - we enjoyed all of it. James helped plan our stay to celebrate a special birthday, and we will never forget this charming apartment. My three teenagers loved every minute of their stay as well. Despite the fact that they had lots of schoolwork to complete, they found time to enjoy the flat screen tv, the informative books about San Francisco, and the delightfully relaxing garden. We had an opportunity to have a few of our San Francisco friends over for a birthday dinner, and they were just as delighted as we were with the beauty of the apartment. We cannot wait to return to celebrate another special occasion here and add more memories to our family album. Thank you, James, for everything!

Having never been to SF before & not being too familiar with the area except for my research on the net & friends......this was the place to stay!!! James has done such a wonderful job & spared no expense when it came to renovating this very spacious, fabulous apartment. If you what the true San Francisco experience staying in an upmarket suburb then you need the property to match. The outdoor garden is beautiful too especially at night with all the fairy lights on which makes it very romantic even if you are just looking at it through the window plus the view of city & bridge from the front window is also lovely. I stayed with my husband & 5 year old son - we didn't hire a car as we walked & cabbed it everywhere which was so easy as we felt very central to all the places of interest. Thank you so much James for all the little extra goodies you provided which really made our experience very special considering it was my husbands birthday whilst we were there & it was just perfect. I strongly recommend anyone who has 5 star taste to strongly consider James' apartment as it would not disappoint!!!

Don't know where to begin, we couldn't have chosen a better apartment, it was extreemly clean and equiped with everything you could wish for. All the extra touches like the toiletries,chocolates etc were lovely. James was so helpful especially promptly answering the constant barrage of questions I kept sending him by email. Our only regret was having to leave, if we ever visit again we would most definately stay there again, the location was so convienient and yet away from the busy area. Loved Trixie & Dexter too Big advantage having the owner upstairs although only time we needed him was for information on San Francisco, but would have been reassuring had we of experienced any problems.We also had great weather got sunburnt on 1st day! Thanks a lot

We just had our first vrbo experience and we couldn't be more pleased. Everything was as expected. The charming flat was in a wonderful location and James went out of his way to be helpful. We highly recommend this place including to families wanting to eat some meals in and hang out together. Our family of six (four teenagers) was willing to work with one bathroom and everyone thought it was well worth staying here. Staying in a historic flat added to our memorable time in San Francisco. Wonderful Stay on Nob Hill

We just returned from a lovely three night stay at your apartment. The apartment is ideally located as we were able to walk to North Beach, China Town and the Union Square area. Please note that some of these walks involved steep hills but one of our favorite things to do when visiting a city is to walk it's streets. Hailing taxi cabs was also never a problem. The apartment was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. We also appreciated all of the little extra touches (such as...Champagne upon arrival, candles, plenty of towels, toiletries)etc. James was a gracious host. He was always available if we needed advice, directions or restaurant suggestions but was also very unobtrusive. The patio was also very charming and inviting...only wish we could have stayed longer!!

Do not hesitate at staying at this property..it is more beautiful than than pictures..I'm serious in saying that I will only stay at 5 star properties and this is one of them (I gave it a six star) James is wonderful...It is in the best location..close to Grace Cathedral, nice restaurants, walk to union square, beautiful park right next door, the backyard is just beautiful, it is sooooo clean, washer and dryer was great to have...kitchen has everything, As you see I can't say enough good things about this property...so once again if you can snag this property do it!!!

I agree with the other great reviews this property and James have gotten. Perfect location by foot to so many things. We too got a pass and rode the bus and trolley cars to access areas further than we wanted to walk (and to not have to walk up the hills from the Financial District). The pass is VERY reasonable and makes riding the trolley cars very affordable (they cost $5 one way if you don't have a pass!). Great eating close by the apartment. James has a well equipped kitchen (including spices, coffee, olive oil, etc as well as cleaning and paper supplies), but the eating was so good we only ate in one evening. The apartment itself is spacious and the way it is laid out it seems even bigger. It was wonderful to have a garden to go to. Luxurious, roomy apt. with pretty garden on top of Nob Hill. Helpful and pleasant owner on the premises makes it all easy. Beautifully equipped kitchen and terrific grocery store nearby. Can't wait to return!

We stayed here the first week in January with our two sons 9 and 10. The place was amazing. There was plenty of room for all of us. James is so accommodating. He had the living room still decorated with the Christmas tree lights up and garland on the hearth. It was so comfortable and close to transportation. We bought a city pass and rode public transportation or walked all over. We drove in from the central coast. James had a parking space within feet of the door ready for us. We could have driven around, but it's San Francisco! The kitchen had everything you need in it. And the garden is larger than it looks in the pictures. It really is an amazing place. We'll be back.

Dear James: Thank you from the bottom of both of our hearts for the first class accommodations! The place was classic and inviting (we spent most of our memorable excursion lounging and taking in the warm and charming apartment). Cheryl has been to more than 100 VRBOs and she says this place sets the standard. As for me, I will probably be disappointed because every place else will pale in comparison. You were a wonderful host and thanks to you, our "rooftop fireworks experience" on the neighbor's roof watching the fireworks on New Year's Eve was the most incredible New Year's celebration we remember having. Thank you for being an instrumental part of adding to our passionate love and an unforgettable time in the City. We will be back December 31, 2011 without a doubt. Love, Rich and Cheryl.

Great Alternative to a Hotel Room!

We had a great 4-night stay in this charming flat. Although it is only a 1BR/1 Bath, it worked for our family of four because the front living room and the TV room each have sofa beds. It was great to have a kitchen and full size washer/dryer. There is a large closet off the hall convenient for storing suitcases. It's a very good value, especially compared to a small hotel room where we would have had to pay extra for parking! The location is ideal, very nice neighborhood, easy to walk to places and lots of restaurants close by. The owner was very easy to work with, always available when we had questions but not obtrusive in any way. We weren't able to enjoy the garden due to the weather, but it is beautiful and lovely to see the greenery through the windows in the entertainment room. We would definitely stay here again on a future trip!

Recommended for: Families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Business Trip Turns into Luxurious Retreat

As a regular user of VRBO for personal travel and family vacation - it did not occur to me to research VRBO for business until after planning a recent business trip to San Francisco. I had searched for availability at a few of my favorite San Fran hotels (Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental) which proved to be all booked up for that timeframe - that is when my search started. After reading the posting for this property, I knew instantly that it was not only going to provide me with amazing accommodations, but this stay would turn into an EXPERIENCE. From the moment I requested availability, I received instant reply. The owners follow through during the booking process was efficient, professional and expedited. Upon my evening arrival at the property - James, the owner greeting me at the entrance and promptly assisted me as I attempted to park my car in the designated assigned spot (parking included was too goo to be true!) - While I am embarrassed to say that I had a more than difficult time parking on the hilly street (which breathtakingly overlooked the TransAmerica building) I was relieved to see James graciously offer to park my car for me - (wow, valet service too?!) I ended up mastering that parking spot after 3-days I do have to add. Entering the apartment almost took my breath away. The energy, charm and character in this home is almost indescribable, and I felt as if I was living in some San Francisco based novel - In the entryway - was sparkling wine & chocolate awaiting, along with an exquisitely decorated Christmas tree in the front parlor room. Everything in the home was 5-star luxury, warmly and impeccably decorated, every amenity of comfort was considered. After learning that owner James had personally done the renovations of this historical house - it made me fall in love all the more. The details in creating the perfect ambiance in every single inch of space in this place is evident – from the abundant amount of candles, organic bath products, plush throw blankets, the best bed linens, fully equipped kitchen and ambient lighting...and bathroom fit for a royalty – it all had me sad to leave – and so excited to come back. Thank you James for making just another business trip a memorable retreat.
