South Baymouth cottage description
We invite you to our paradise located on Manitoulin Island, the world's largest freshwater island.
Our property is your opportunity to sit back, relax, and take in the true beauty of the North. Escape the hustle of your life for a week by traveling to a place where life moves at a slower pace. Take walks in the untouched woods, marvel at the beautiful wildflowers, hummingbirds, squirrels and chipmunks, or take a dip in Lake Huron immediately out front.
Our property contains two cottages that are approximately 100 yards apart that are available separately or together, depending on your needs.
The Mini-Castle is the bigger of the two cottages, able to house at least 8 people with a full kitchen and bath. The beautiful patio deck that overlooks Lake Huron is a great place to sit back, open a book or magazine and reconnect with the pristine nature around you.
Castle-on-the-Rocks is the smaller of the two cottages that offers a more private setting located down a private path from the Mini Castle. It is a 1 bedroom residence with a hideaway couch option to sleep two more. It has a full kitchen, bathroom, patio, washer/dryer and the biggest view of Lake Huron that you have ever seen.
Enjoy the surrounding nature and serenity by hiking the miles of untouched coast line and woods adjoining to our cottages, or walk two minutes to the harbor to enjoy fishing charters or docking your own boat. The village of South Baymouth is just a 5 minute walk where you can enjoy great shopping, fresh whitefish at one of the local restaurants, or check out the galleries featuring local and Native artists.
In the evening, warm yourself up in front of the wood fireplace as you watch the Chi-Cheemaun ferry sail into the harbor lit up against the dark night sky, or gaze at the Northern Lights.
Let our paradise be your next unforgettable vacation.

A piece of heaven

We have stayed at both cottages over the years. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The setting is exactly as described - beautiful beyond words! The locals are also very friendly and are eager to welcome us every time we are there. We love to browse the shops and brought home a beautiful painting of the island, a birdhouse and handmade soap after our last visit. We were there for the fireworks one year. LOVED THAT! If you visit these cottages, you will want to return every year.

Castle On The Rocks
Castle On The Rocks
Our vacation in Castle On-The-Rocks was everything and more than was advertised. The listing photos just do not do it justice. The cottage was fabulous, clean and with ALL (no TV even) amenities. First place that I've been in where the kitchen was bigger than the bedroom. The view was spectacular!!!! You are right on the rocks at the waters edge. No swimming here, but beaches are close by for those that love fridgid water. If you want to get away from it all, have some private time, this is the place to go. This is the last cottage in the row, tucked away down a path from the closest other one. From the cottage, we saw 2 people (not counting the caretaker who stopped by to see if everything was good) and a dog during the week we were there, and it's less than a 10 minute walk to the harbour and ferry dock. The rest of the island is for exploring, so do it. Lots of local festivities to take part in. The owners left some helpfull tourist info for us to read and even telephoned to see if all was well. All was well so I am sure that anyone will enjoy thier stay as much as we did, and don't leave without trying the white fish. You can get it anywere on the island.

Owner response: We're so glad you enjoyed it, and hope you'll stay with us again! We're some of those people that don't mind the cold water, and the lake front is great for swimming as long as you have some good water shoes!
My family has stayed at this cottage 3 times and have loved it more each time. The cottage is clean, well equipped and situated in a perfect spot. You have beautiful views of Lake Huron while being nestled in quiet woods. You are a very short walk to town with stores and restaurants. There is a great park for kids, fishing on the marina docks and wonderful views of the Chi-Chemaun coming in and out of the channel. Kids love the spot and keep busy for hours exploring. There are many great sites to see on the island. We love to go to Providence Bay to swim. Restrooms, restaurant and lots of sand. It is a great family get away.

this is the place where time can stop for you. where you may not remember what day it is or what time it is as you just look out the windows at the beauty of the lapping waves of Lake Huron on the beautiful rocky shores and look at the pine and wooded forests nearby or go for day trips anywhere on the Island. You musn't miss going to Garden Shed Restaurant and Garden Shop for GREAT Breakfast to start your day. The fireplace of the Castle on the Rocks Cabin is so charming you will think you're in the middle of some "storybook "...and yes, this week you can write your own story here....Enjoy all the beauty of the Canadian Island of Manitoulin and enjoy every breathtaking view on nearby roads or go off for the whole day on an adventure to any of the charming towns on the Island. The description of the rooms are accurate and the owners will be helpful for any concerns or questions or recommendations of where to go on day trips....enjoy ! Breathe ! Live !

I have seen both cottages and stayed in the mini castle. The area is beautiful, the place is very clean and comfortable. People everywhere are most helpful and friendly. I plan to return and will recommend this vacation spot to others.
