Our 2 bedroom, 2 bath townhouse is a perfect spot for a couples retreat, family vacation, or romantic getaway. We do weekly or monthly rentals. Overlooking Torrey Pines State Beach and Los Peñasquitos Preserve, it's close enough to check the surf from the living room or master suite and be lulled to sleep with the sound of waves breaking. It's just a half block walk to the Torrey Pines State Reserve beach entrance, but if you're loaded with beach toys and gear, use our Torrey Pines State Reserve parking pass to shuttle your gear to the beach.
The townhouse is in a low density complex and is a quiet end-unit with no neighbors above or below. It's beautifully remodeled with a large, open kitchen with high-end appliances and granite counter tops that open to the dining room and living room areas - great for entertaining or hanging out with friends and family. Mission style furnishings, hardwood floors, and two fireplaces - one in the living room and one in the master bedroom - complete a high-end, but elegantly casual and relaxed feel.
The master suite has ocean and Torrey Pines Preserve views, a queen bed, a lounge area with couch, reading chair, LCD cable TV, fireplace and master bath that includes a whirlpool tub with views to the ocean (but still completely private). The guest bedroom has two twins and has its own full bath, as well as access and views to a beautiful patio. Stored in bedroom closets are portable sleeping mats that are great for 2 additional kids or adults. The private, attached 2 car garage eliminates street parking or dragging luggage or groceries through an underground parking garage. The complex includes 2 heated pools, 2 whirlpool spas, clubhouse and recreation room, tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, a tot lot, and a 5 acre park.
Included are all linens, bath towels, beach towels, shampoo, and hair dryers, as well as an array of beach toys, boogie boards, foam surfboards, beach chairs, and snorkeling equipment. There are new LCD TVs in the living room and each bedroom as well as a high speed wireless internet connection.
Del Mar is the best beach town around. We've lived or vacationed in beach towns from California to Florida, the Caribbean to Hawaii. Del Mar is easy to get to (24 min to San Diego's Lindbergh Field) with great beaches, fantastic restaurants and shopping, and a ton of things to do. For nature lovers, our place sits between the two components of Torrey Pines State Reserve. Hiking the ocean bluffs of Torrey Pines, you can see native wildflowers amid spectacular ocean views, including possible glimpses of dolphins, seals, migrating whales, and the most powerful waves in Southern California. Surfing, boogie boarding, body surfing or just hanging out at the beach are a short walk. Golfers can pick from dozens of world class courses and we are 15-25 minutes from Legoland, Sea World, and the world famous San Diego Zoo. Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography is 10 minutes away and the Del Mar Race Track and Fairgrounds is a 6 minute drive. La Jolla Cove beach is under 10 miles away.

Doug, Thank you for having the opportunity to stay at your place. We had a fantastic time. The location so close to the beach is great and all the beach gear that you have in the garage has been big fun for the kids. Everything in the apartment looks as on the pictures above. We spent a fabulous week at this condo/townhouse. It was exactly as described. High-end amenities, clean, comfortable, and our oasis after busy days of touring around the San Diego area. We never needed the air-conditioning. The ocean breeze through the large windows and patio doors was all we needed to stay comfortable. We walked to the Torrey Pines beach. Our day trips included the San Diego Zoo, Safari Park, Legoland, Coronado and Disneyland. The pizza and pasta from the nearby Italian place was really good and was easy to grab on our way back home after our busy days out. We all enjoyed the pool and hot tub, as well as the park which is part of the condo complex. The location could not have been better for the day trips we had planned. We would highly recommend this place to anyone planning to tour around the San Diego area. Thank you very much to the owners for their excellent communication and for sharing their place with us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I just returned from a month long stay at Doug & Dana's Torrey Pines Condo. I really can't imagine a better place to stay. I've rented several other VRBO condominiums in the Del Mar / Solana Beach area and this is by far my favorite. It's beautiful, very comfortable, and well taken care of...it felt just like home. My favorite things about my stay were: the close proximity (a 10 minute walk) to Torrey Pines State Beach, a wonderful, large heated pool, a wonderful green space that my grandchildren loved to run around in and play ball, and finally a well-appointed kitchen that made cooking easy and fun. I have already recommended this condo to several friends and can't wait to return myself.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I stayed her recently on vacation. This was the perfect spot for my family; two kids ages 17 months and 3 years. The place itself was really nice and a good set up for the two kids. The view from the master is beautiful and we loved relaxing after a busy day in our "suite"! Almost everything we needed was available in the condo. In addition to the condo being so nice, the location just can't be beat. Our days pretty much went like this: breakfast at the kitchen counter with ocean views, walking to the beach with the wagon provided by the owners, spending several hours at the beach (which is perfect for kids because the water is shallow and the waves are minimal close to the shore; the surfers have to paddle pretty far out), then heading to the pool in the complex, which also has a nice shallow side, a hot tub and a hot shower for rinsing off after the beach and before returning home, and a bathroom. Everything went so seamlessly because everything is so convenient. In addition to the beach and pool, there is also a great little play structure within the complex that my kids enjoyed. We also visited Legoland, which is only 20 minutes away. The zoo also only took about 20 minutes to get to. Truly a prefect vacation. I highly, highly recommend this condo for families or anyone just wanting the perfect getaway in an absolutely beautiful setting.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife and semi-recently spent five weeks in this beautiful 2-bedroom condo overlooking the beach in Del Mar, California. As former residents of Del Mar, we had very high expectations for this property. Our actual experience exceeded our expectations! The condo is beautifully furnished and has all the amenities one would expect in an upscale rental property. It truly did feel like home. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to stay at home and cook, including a wide variety of spices and condiments. The living room was very comfortable and featured a 42' High definition TV. The owner was even nice enough to allow us to upgrade the cable service to include a VCR so we could record shows while we were gone. The front patio was very nice, with comfortable funrinture and a very good BBQ grill. The back deck was smaller, but had a nice table and chairs and was perfect for watching the sunset in the evening. The Master bedroom was upstairs with a sitting area and fireplace. The bed was the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in................at least in a rental property! The upstairs bedroom also had a nice bathroom with two sinks and a walk-in closet. The owners have thought of everything when it comes to beach activities..................providing beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkel equipment, boogie boards, even surf boards. The location is perfect. Everything you want to do in San Diego County is within a 30 minute drive...........most within 10 - 20 minutes. Three excellent restaurants are within walking distance.........Mexican, Chinese and Italian. Plus the beach is a five minute walk! The owners were great to work with and we highly recommend this property to anyone planning to visit the Del Mar area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is the first time we were staying in a vacation rental and we were a bit anxious in that we did not know what to expect. We arrived there on Saturday around noon to find a wonderful home in close proximity to the beach. The home was clean and as described. It had good beach toys, excellent beach chairs as well as sufficient towels and other supplies. We really appreciated these as it allowed us to enjoy the beach and surrounding area as if it was our backyard! The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. We fell asleep on comfortable beds listening to the waves crashing. It doesn't get much better than that! Our favourite beach in Del Mar was a Powerhouse Park and we enjoyed hiking at the Torrey Pines State Reserve, boogie boarding and I even took surfing lessons from Rusty's. We enjoyed the wonderful food at Jake's and the Sushi place down the street. We have already recommended this property to a number of friends and would love to come back here one day!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Condo has everything you could possibly need in a rental..Very well maintained and decorated. All of the amenities that are needed on a daily basis are provided with the exception of personal products and food. The location is perfect, short driving distance to attractions and the ocean is within walking distance...I would highly recommend the condo to anyone traveling to San Diego.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Great location. Easy walk to the beach and restaurants. Downtown Del Mar is still within walking distance, albeit a more generous distance. The condo has everything you need, including beach gear and surfboards. We did not need to buy anything besides food and sunscreen. The condo is comfortable and very well maintained. The owners obviously take pride in their home. Beautiful views and the neighborhood is extremely quiet. Wonderful park that is part of the condo complex and two closely accessible pools are bonuses. What a pleasure to stay in this warm and comfortable home. The space was just as described and photos shown. The kitchen is well appointed which made cooking and dining a pleasure. We utilized the state park pass daily - nice to drive to the beach with our 2 small kids and all the gear. Hiking the trails at the end of the development were very convenient. The park and pool on site are great amenities for a family. The location is perfect for a very relaxing and worry free vacation. Weather was perfect this time of year - not too hot and sunny. The Welcome Book is filled with great and accurate information. I would highly recommend this home as well as working with the owners. We look forward to future visits.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: We met and were married in San Diego but have lived in the Chicago area since 1995 where we are raising our family. This townhouse is our getaway from Chicago winters and our chance to reconnect with the West Coast. Ultimately, we'll spend more time here, but with kids still in school, we're limited to Christmas and Spring breaks plus a few long weekends during the winter months (that'd be ~8 winter months in Chicago). That leaves it open for rental throughout the summer and for significant blocks during the winter.
Why the Owner Chose Del Mar:
We've tried beaches all over the world and keep coming back to Del Mar - there's natural beauty we don't find at beaches on the East Coast, not to mention far better surfing. Del Mar combines everything we love: great weather, perfect beaches, great restaurants, good surfing, and an endless variety of things to do. We've lived and vacationed from California to Florida, Hawaii to the Caribbean, and there's no place we'd rather be than Del Mar. We picked this specific unit after looking up and down the coast - this complex is far lower density than others, has a great floor plan and livable space, and has an open, uncrowded feel. While not directly on the beach, it has easier beach access than the high density complexes considered 'beach front' but with no way of getting down the bluff to the beach below. We can check the surf from the living room or master and sleep with the sound of waves crashing not far away.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
Half a block to the entrance of Torrey Pines State Beach North Entrance and then a couple of hundred yards and you're on the beach. Six minutes by car to the Del Mar racetrack. Three minutes up the hill to the Torrey Pines Golf Course. This complex has much lower density than other condo complexes - there are no units above or below and we are an end unit. We also have a private 2 car garage rather than a large parking structure. When in Del Mar, we walk daily at Torrey Pines State Reserve and love the town of Del Mar - good shopping, great restaurants, and the best beaches. The beach is just a few minutes walk - easy for morning walks or surf sessions. For a guilty pleasure, the best fast food Mexican is 1 block away at Roberto's and for higher end eating, there are great choices in Del Mar just 4 minutes drive from our door. La Jolla is next door to Del Mar and offers fantastic high-end shopping, restaurants, and stunning scenery.
