- SCUBA at Cabo Pulmo! The Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park is located about 40 miles north of San Jose del Cabo on the eastern cape of Baja, "the interactive peninsula". The abundant coral growth on the rocky reefs provides shelter and food for countless colorful reef fishes, many of which are found nowhere else in the world. The marine boundaries are Bahia Las Barracas to the north and Bahia Los Frailes to the south, encompassing approximately 7,111 hectares. This nutrient rich water results in a profusion of plankton that forms the base of a vast food web of invertebrates, fishes, birds and mammals making the Sea of Cortez one of the most productive waters in the world. The reef is the only hard coral reef found in the Sea of Cortez formed by multi-fingers and lies in 18 meters of water. It is one of only three living reefs in North America. A Mexican fishing vessel (the Colima), sunk during a storm in 1939, lies in 15 meters of water approximately 2.4 kilometers north of Punta Cabo Pu

Year Purchased: 2005
We purchased this former model home for our family of five, and used it exclusively as a second home for many years. We have recently relocated from So. California to Montana, and find with our two kids in college we just do not get down as much as we used to...We have loved this home and this complex, and plan to make it our retirement home, but we are still a few years off! There are all kinds of toys for you to use, including a surfboard (long) wake board, pool floats, and snorkeling equipment.
Why the Owner Chose El Zalate
We chose this particular complex as it is quiet, not too many rentals, (no timeshare!) but still so close to everything we love. It is well taken care of, and has many residents who live here year round so it feels like a home, and not a timeshare.
The Unique Benefits of this Condo
We can swim on the beach, surf down the way (walking distance) and walk to many great restaurants. We can even walk to the market if we wish. We are far enough away from all the hoopla of Cabo, but can get there if we wish! We have a great complex next door for food and drinks, massages on the beach, horseback out the door, and still more of a community feeling than in a huge resort. I have spent many summers here with my kids, and feel completely safe, and secure. There is much to do right here, and nothing if you wish.
