I don't know how we lucked into this wonderful cabin amidst one of the most beautiful snowfalls of the year. My partner and I happened to be visiting Johnson City (50 min away) for work when we decided at the last minute that we had had enough hotel rooms for a while. We had a feeling we would be snowed in following work that day, but decided to chance it and see if this adorable cabin against the pisgah forest was available. The owner was so timely and helpful for such short notice. We braved the snowy roads, and the weather gave us just enough time to get there without too much danger. We were met just before the actual cabin, welcomed, and shown all around the pre-warmed up bliss-box of a vacation spot! Although the cabin is exceptional and everything you would need and more for a long or short-term stay...we were already sold on the drive over. Watauga Lake and the branches of the river coming off of it along the way, crossing the appalachian trail, and every ounce of hills and mountains around...we knew we were headed to the right place and actually didn't care at that point WHAT the cabin was like!! To our fortune, it all happened to be perfect. The owner pointed us to a couple of trails close-by, and we found a handful of our own the next day on our way out. I will tell you, the snow had our attention, and we just couldn't stay inside long. We hit the woods behind the cabin promptly upon arrival that night, and followed another trail first thing the next morning...And we had our dog, who could not have expressed more wordless joy than we could. Although the driveway is extreeeemely accessible and flat, we did endure about 6" or more of snow in less than 24 hours...so while we were skidding and rocking my little sedan out of the driveway...we had the pleasure of meeting and employing the help of the owner's son and wife in pushing the car loose. I hope they know how much we appreciate their dirty hands and a couple dirty jeans!! We will definitely be back...it was perfect!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

We stayed at the lovely cabin for a long weekend while visiting family. The owners and their daughter were so warm and welcoming. They stocked the refrigerator with water and even brought a child size fishing pole and a can of corn over to us for our two girls. The girls loved the animals on the property and even got to feed them. The home is so cozy and decorated charmingly. Our party of 4 adults and two children was very comfortable and look forward to returning.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

We had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful hand crafted cabin while visiting Mountain City Tn, There was a total of two adults,an infant and three teenagers that stayed in the cabin. We all felt at home because the cabin was fully stocked with all of the neccessaties. The cabin was also just as described and was clean. The cabin was extremely spacious and completely comfortable. We were very satisfied with our stay and will be back in the near future and would recommend this cabin to all. We were also excited that the cabin welcomed pets as we brought our dog son Copper (Viszla).Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners.

My three daughters and I visited Tennessee for our first time this summer and it was clearly one of our favorite vacations so far. We live in Pennsylvania and we are accustomed to the fast paced Northeast lifestyle and I was looking for a place that could truly be peaceful and relaxing for our summer trip. I searched and searched many places to rent and nothing came to my liking until I found the Cordwood Cabin. I was drawn to the history of the cabin where the boys built the cabin for their school project. I thought, there is not a better place to go than here to learn about Tennessee and nearby North Carolina, where I was born. We arrived later than expected and the owners graciously welcomed us to our new home for the week. The family was so kind and pleasant, we felt comfortable the moment we got there. The cabin was well stocked, clean and orderly, and had such an interesting decor inside the cabin. Simply, the place is tastefully done. Clearly, the kids and I could sense the relaxing atmosphere and excitement of our new adventure. Each morning we had our days carefully planned. We went boating, swimming, and fishing on a pontoon boat on the nearby Watauga Lake. We also went to Asheville, NC to visit the Biltmore mansion and saw the minor league baseball team Asheville Tourist play. We also visited the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway and Smokey Mountains National Park. We also spent the day in Boone, NC and Abington, Va for a local historic festival. All these places are relatively close to the Cordwood Cabin. So our day trips were filled with fun, and we looked forward to returning to the cabin for dinner and playing some games in the yard. If you are looking for a place that is peaceful and a heightened sense of tranquility, the Cordwood Cabin should be your chosen place to stay. It is close to many interesting places to visit and is a true pleasure for you to enjoy. We have every intention to visit the Cordwood Cabin again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

Country Cordwood cabin embraces and comforts you like a fine, well-worn quilt. We've had the pleasure of spending two weeks here this August and it's everything we wished for - and then some. Karen, Greg and their family have created an incredible place here and we feel very fortunate to have found it. We hope to return often.Recommended for: People with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

Thanks for letting us enjoy your beautiful cabin for the weekend. It was very quiet and peaceful. I loved that it was off the road a bit, so my 3 year old could enjoy playing outside. She was super excited to see a deer in the yard on Sat. morning. There was absolutely nothing I needed that wasn't there, it is a very well supplied cabin, from a pack & play to aluminum foil. Thanks again for a wonderful weekend.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.
