My family (self, husband, daughters, son-in-law, and grandson, age 5) enjoyed a delightful week at this property in April 2012. The house has a palatial master suite upstairs, with king bed, water view, sitting area, dressing room, and spacious full bath; and two smaller but comfy bedrooms downstairs, one with twin beds and one with a queen, each with its own full bath nearby. The living/dining/family room looks over a deck and lawn to the water and the dock. The open kitchen is small, but very well equipped, and has the advantage of not separating the cook from the rest of the family. The house comes equipped with dishwasher, washer and dryer, books, videos, and games for children and grownups, and many thoughtful touches such as extra blankets and beach towels. Carla and Ross were perfect hosts, always friendly and helpful when needed, but utterly unobtrusive. Our grandson had lots of fun playing with their older daughter one afternoon. The location is quiet and has a wonderful away-from-it-all atmosphere, but is still convenient to the "downtown" area and the ferry, as well as the island's ample supply of family recreation and nature walk areas. We went to Battle Point Park, which has a fabulous play structure for kids; Gazzam Lake, where we spotted a pair of bald eagles; and Bloedel Reserve, which is right nearby and is a must-see for garden enthusiasts. Highly recommended for a quiet, peaceful vacation for nature-loving families.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

My 8 year old daughter & I just spent a wonderful 3 days enjoying the house and the views! The house has everything you need and is extremely comfortable. Gaby fell in love with the owner's dog Molly and had a great time playing with their girls and the sisters up the road. The house is in a great location for enjoying Bainbridge Island and Poulsbo. Even Seattle is only a quick ferry ride away. Our "girls" weekend at Port Madison was definitely one of our best times ever and we hope to go back again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We recently spent several days at this lovely home. Our family consisting of Grandparents, adult "kids". and two Grandchildren enjoyed a family rendezvous at this beautiful home on Bainbridge Island. Not knowing what to expect when we arrived, we were very pleased to enter our "new home away from home" and find a very nice home that was clean, well maintained, and with designer touches throughout. Many large windows enabled us to enjoy a gorgeous setting on a beautiful waterfront. We loved the fresh flowers in many of the rooms, charming furniture and accessories, comfortable beds, silky sheets, and soft thick bath towels. All of the bedrooms have their own bathrooms which is a nice luxury along with soft towels and good toilet paper. :) The home is spacious and did not feel cramped with six people occupying the space. Our little kids enjoyed visiting and playing with Carla and Ross's two daughters who are about the same age as our Grandchildren. Our Grandchildren were sad to leave their new friends behind when it was time to say goodbye. We enjoyed visiting the beautiful Bloedel Reserve on a sunny day. We loved the "green" everywhere, the flowering trees, flowers, and the tranquility of the Japanese Garden. The peaceful setting and nature walk throughout the grounds was delightful though not something young children would enjoy. Carla and Ross are great hosts and lovely people who are ready to answer any questions or solve any problem. We enjoyed meeting Carla, Ross, Jane, and Elizabeth and look forward to seeing them again soon on our next return to Bainbridge Island. We would recommend this home to anyone as a great escape for a fun and relaxing time. Enjoy!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We really enjoyed the house even if the weather wasn't the absolute best, what do you expect it's the NW. We thought everything was well maintained and cared for. Molly was a great hostess and we look forward to returning in a couple of months.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We had a lovely stay at this property over a long weekend and enjoyed the home and the constantly changing scenes on the water. With beautiful furnishings, books to read, boats to enjoy, and a world of activities so close by, this is a gem. Our hosts Carla and Ross are delightful and made us feel right at home. It was our anniversary and they even surprised us with chocolate and champagne, a beautiful gesture. We come to Bainbridge Island often and if you are looking for a getaway where you can be lazy and just enjoy the moment, or you want to fill your days with fun activities and enjoy some great restaurants, this place has it all. If you like tappas, a must try restaurant in Poulesbo is Burrata Bistro. Lots of choices, great food and service. If you are a knitter, you don't want to miss Churchmouse Yarn and Tea in the town of Bainbridge. Gardners and naturalists will love the Blodel Reserve!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family had a geat 2 weeks of kayaking, swinging in the hammock and exploring the nearby woods. Our two boys (1.5 and 4) played with crabs, filled themselves with plums from the fruit trees and loved playing with the little girls next door. There is plenty of space and Carla did a terrific job of decorating the house.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

We loved the house, Carla was super responsive, and the lovely touches throughout - from fresh flowers to good toilet paper :) to the very best gluten free blueberry muffin and low sugar home made jam (not that she will do that for everybody, we were the first booking for the house but not the first guests) made this house the perfect place for our annual brain trust retreat. We will be back next year!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: The muffins were my first attempt at gluten free baking and I’m glad you liked them (whew!). Have you all booked for next year and may have gluten free donuts perfected by then:). Really, we loved having your group next door, you were having such a grand time it made us happy, too.

My family of four (with twin boys age 4) stayed here for a week, and we loved it. The description of the house and property was accurate. There is a gorgeous view of the water and boats from almost every room of the house, even the large walk-in closet upstairs. The furnishings throughout the home are fabulous. The king-size master bed is amazingly comfortable. The house is clean and well-maintained. The owners, Carla and Ross, live next door and are extremely nice and thoughtful. Carla went to the library and checked out 10 terrific, age-appropriate books for our boys, and also bought butterfly nets and other fun things for them to play with, and bought lifejackets just their size for boating -- all before we arrived. Carla and Ross also recommended the perfect hikes, restaurants and things to do on the island. Their kayaks and rowboat are tons of fun, and the bay is the perfect place to boat and explore. The house and waterfront area are very safe for small kids. We were a little concerned about safety, but had no worries once we arrived and inspected the property. My boys loved the lawn and waterfront area: they fed geese, collected shells, played in the hammock, and had a great time. During our week vacation, we went to Seattle a few times. We loved the ferry boat and Seattle, but we found Bainbridge Island and the house even more pleasing. We grilled on the outdoor deck most evenings, and drank wine and watched the boats pass by. Very relaxing. We look forward to coming back next year. On the island, we strongly recommend: (a) visiting the Bloedel Reserve (a mile away) and walking the entire 2 mile easy stroll around the property (gorgeous!); (b) going to Battery Park and walking the Fairy Dell trail to the water (you must park in the proper lot - on the northern border of the park); (c) eating ice cream at Mora (super yum!); (d) visiting Paulsbo (very cute town only 6 miles away); (e) eating at Sawadty restaurant – about the best Thai food we’ve ever had, including our trip to Thailand. Also, Bainbridge has lots of local things like art walks, farmers markets and outdoor concerts. They are lots of fun.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.
Owner response: I’m so glad your boys liked the books. We had tremendous fun picking them out and making the house ready for you. You and your family were a pleasure to meet and I look forward to seeing you again on your next trip to Bainbridge. Let’s have another smore’s party next year—you can teach me your super-duper marshmallow roasting technique!
