Skye~~ We are so blessed!! You are such a beautiful person both inside & out, and we treasure having you as our new friend. There are no words to fully explain the magic and beauty here. Walking along the beach , I danced like a child overwhelmed & overjoyed by the beauty of the island and the hospitality you showed. We loved every moment!! The singing birds in the morning, the geckos in the yard, the comfort of the cottage. This place will forever be in our hearts!!! I feel like it has healed a piece of me that was broken… I cannot thank you enough!!! Like the song says…”somewhere over the rainbow…where dreams really do come true.”

March 27-April 4, 2012 Arriving at the time dusk turns to dark, still inhaling the sweet smell of our flowered garlands… Greeted with alohas and open arms of our gracious mermaid hostess… Stone steps lead to the sprays of fushia flowers bobbing gently in the evening breeze, an entry arch to island time. Entering the quaint cottage green and turquoise eases our travel weary bodies. Awakening to sunrise sounds of doves and waves and the spray of a gentle mist soothing the green of the garden. Seeing the turquoise water, volcanic rock rising from the sea… The miles of sandy beach beckons… A blessed reunion with our beloved child who now calls Hawaii home---- Now we know why!

Renting over the internet really worked for us. Our little beach house fit us to a T!! First Morning the boys were up early and we all ran to the ocean, which we could hear all night. WOW!! It is a beautiful beach with the blue water, white waves, and Islands off shore. This was a day to explore. The week went fast for Travis and Devon. At age 16 they had a busy agenda. The hike to the waterfalls at Manoa Falls trail was their favorite adventure. Then we put the two boys on the plane, they planned to sleep all the way. Now three weeks just the two of us! We were tired too and spent a few days just reading, listening to the rain on the roof, playing scrabble and sleeping. Then the rain really hit! Eight days of limited outings. But through it all we were so confortasble in our "little beach house". We loved this place. Waimanalo is so convenient but not commercial -- real hawaii. we felt the Aloha and loved it! Thank you Skye for sharing your part of heaven with us.

Feb. 12-19, 2012 We came to Hawaii to get married and honeymoon. We are so happy we found the Cottage by the Sea. When we arrived we were greeted with open arms (literally!). The cottage felt like a home away from home. The landscaping is truly beautiful and the beach is a treasure. It was so nice to be able to enjoy the bluest waters we have ever seen without the hastle of Honolulu or Waikiki. After our wedding right up the street Skye came to congratulate us with hugs and a bottle of wine. So very much appreciated. Waking up to the beautiful bird songs and waves crashing was amazing. We hope to come back and visit again. Skye, thank you so much for everything. We can’t thank you enough for making us feel so welcome in your home. P.S. Take care of “Willis” for us. HaHa Thank You “Mahalo” and Aloha Jared and Megan

Dear Skye, We have been dreaming of returning HERE for four years---from the time we first stayed with you and were introduced to your lovely town and beach! Well, we made it!....and brought friends with us. Now we can dream again and look forward to a return. LOVE IT HERE! Thank you for sharing your home---and your piece of paradise. I’m so glad we discovered you. We hope to return soon for longer! Dear Skye, We’ve enjoyed your lovely little “Cottage by the Sea” immensely. The garden and landscaping is amazingly lush, the beds are comfy, décor is turtle-y tropical and the beach is fabulous. You made us feel so welcome. You have the perfect personality for being a hostess with “the mostest.” Mahalo,

Dear Skye, Your peaceful cottage was the perfect place for us to spend our last vacation as a couple before our first child is born in May. We loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves and the gentle breeze blowing through the palms, and then waking up to the bird songs surrounding this home. The proximity to the beach---just a few houses away---was the perfect distance for me to walk (or should I say waddle?) at 6 ½ months pregnant. Cooking a few simple meals in the cottage was easy and we also enjoyed the short strolls to dinner at Sweet Home Waimanalo. We’ll have fond memories of our stay here. With gratitude, Nicole and Sam

I stayed at Skye's oceanside cottage for a week in October and it was the perfect getaway. The cottage is equipped with all the necessities (even if you want to cook!), and, there is also the old Hawaiiana ambiance that is difficult to find. It's clear that the cottage has been decorated and maintained with tender loving care. It was my perfect getaway from the stress of work on the mainland. One of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii is located half a block from the cottage and you won't find thousands of tourists. I highly recommend this property to anyone who's looking for peace, natural beauty and quiet.

The cottage with the most incredible beach and the sea so close by, with all the wonderful flowers in the garden around and the privacy it provides, truly is a little paradise. Inside the house, one can tell that the owner pays much attention to many little details that make you feel comfortable: the house is clean, the kitchen is equipped with almost everything you need, there are many seating accomodations, videos, books and fresh flowers in each room. We came all the way from Germany and we loved it. Skye, you are an amiable hostess and it was great meeting you! You know that we will be back! :-) Ute and Klaus

We were in Hawaii for our daughter's wedding and did not want the tourism experience of Waikiki. This cottage was the prefect Hawaii experience. The cottage is lovely, clean, cool, and private. You can hear the waves from the ocean and beautiful bird songs wake you in the morning. We would recommend this rental to family and friends. Waimanalo is close to many activities, and the cottage is a short walk to the beach.

Great spot! Exactly as described and photographed - clean and charming. The owner was there and ready to help when needed (and did) but we had 100% privacy and quiet - best of all worlds. We wandered to the beach in the mornings and read on the beach in the afternoon. It is like a home away from home with beach chairs, bogie boards and snorkel gear. The owner is clear about the requirements for arrival and departure - so we had clarity and no fuss - very relaxing. Great for swimming, snorkeling and kayaking in the unspoiled country and close enough for fabulous dining in Honolulu. The owner is a total sweetie and just happy to welcome you to this piece of Paradise. I would visit again and would recommend it to friends and family.

Dear Skye, I could not have had a more relaxing vacation in Hawaii than I did spending this past week with my family in your cottage. From the moment I stepped in there I could sense a warm, welcoming and whimsical atmosphere. And with the beach located a short walk away, it couldn't have been better. I think one of the highlights of our trip was having 24/7 access to an ample amount of friendly felines. Our family has three cats, so we are large cat lovers and embrace the opportunity to bring more cats into our hearts. Thank you for giving us the chance to spend time with your beautiful cats, as well as spend time in this magnificent cottage located in such a majestic place. I will try to convince my parents to bring us back here soon (although I think they are already planning a trip to come back now)! :) Thank you again for your hospitality and kind heart. If you're looking for a no frills, quiet and peaceful place to get away this place is it. The beach is about a block away. It's very windy there and not a lot of flat beach to lay out in the sun if that's what you want. But there is beautiful sand and a mix of sun and shaded spots. Very peaceful. Limited dining in the immediate area. Easy drive to just about anywhere. I wouldn't recommend during the summer. The place warms up quickly.

We really enjoyed our stay (first time) at Skye's cottage. It is even better than the description and pictures. The cottage is very cleverly decorated and is quite private due to outstanding landscaping. Everything you need is provided. Waimanalo beach is our favorite anywhere; it's only a two minute walk to the sand and sea. This cottage is a great option for a couple looking to be near the beach without paying up for a large home on the beach.

The Cottage was everything we could have hoped for and more! The pictures on this property do not give it the credit that it deserves, it is just gorgeous. We loved the very quiet, cozy feel of the cottage and the great front porch and private garden areas. We cooked our meals in the cozy kitchen every morning and used the grill in the back yard. The cottage has its own private world seperate from the main house. The walks to the beach were great especially in the morning and evening as its only 1 block away and you can hear the ocean all day. You do not need air conditioning as the breeze at night is nice and cool. There is an AC if you need it and we turned it on one time during the day and its gets all the rooms really cold. The parking was free in front and no one can park in your spot, nice. We liked the boogie boards, snorkel gear, and the beach towels that Skye let us use for free. We would have had to rent most of that gear and it adds up. The kithen saved us about 80 dollars a day from going out to eat, thats alot! Rental car was a great idea on this property but bus stop only 2 blocks away if you like the bus. In all, this was the perfect place for our getting ready for our wedding and then enjoying our honeymoon. Skye is just great and we will miss her and we hope to see her again in the future as we will rent this cottage again on our next trip to Oahu. Mahalo Skye!

We stayed at the cottage for a week in January with our new baby and loved it so much! We had stayed at two other similar places on the island and this was the cutest - we loved the family sized hammock in the private garden area and the outdoor laundry was a lovely way to get that chore done! the decor is delightful and it felt extra homey because of frequent visits from Tigerlily...one of the many well-loved local cats that laze around the property! Fun! don't be surprised to see one or more cats lounging on your car! The kitchen was well-equipped and we enjoyed grilling outdoors every night - in short, it was the perfect vacation, just a block from one of the cleanest, quietest beaches we have ever visited. It was a bit windier than some of the other beaches but still fantastic swimming and even better for boogie-boarding. We would highly recommend this for a couple or family! Mahalo!

We stayed at Skye's "Cottage by the Sea" in mid-January for our destination wedding and honeymoon. It was the perfect place for us as we didn't want all the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Skye was a great hostess and saw to it that all of our needs were met. The cottage itself is so cute and really gives you a feel for the island lifestyle. Waimanalo Beach is gorgeous and we felt so lucky to be only a short walk away from something so beautiful. We would definitely stay with Skye again and we plan to make our trip to Hawaii an annual event for our anniversary. Thanks for everything, Skye!

This cottage has everything you need for your stay away from home. The beach is beautiful. The location is close to all sorts of Oahu attractions: snorkeling, kayaking, boarding, hiking, etc. And Skye is there to answer questions about where to eat and shop. Waimanalo is a nice local town with an inexpensive market so you can cook (or BBQ) for yourself at the cottage, if you like -- saved us a lot of money.

As good as they are the pictures hardly come close to the beauty of what is an extraordinarily comfortable, seemingly isolated house in one's own private garden and forest of palm trees, surrounded by lawns, with complete privacy yet friendly people within close reach, next to one of the most beautiful, and quiet beaches in the world. The house is wonderfully furnished and one cannot help but feel absolutely at ease and at home. A wonderful place and as a fomer five-year resident of Waimanalo, and long-time veteran of 'bed and breakfasts' this one is unsurpassed by far. Regards, John R. Maupin, Oct. 2010.

My fiance and I stayed at the cottage for two weeks and we hope to one day return for another stay. Waimanalo is the place to go to experience a genuine, local Hawaiian atmosphere on Oahu, away from tourism (but yet close enough by car to all the major sites and Honolulu), close to the gorgeous mountains and ocean, and the cottage is located in the very best part of Waimanalo, just across the street from the beach and looking straight up at those majestic, green mountains... Paradise on earth! The lush landscaping of the cottage mixed with the inner decoration of the cottage made this place aesthetically one of the most pleasant places I have ever had the pleasure to stay in! At night you could hear the waves crashing, it is very peaceful and private, and Skye was an amazing host! If life is good to us, we'll get back there again someday. :-) This place will always be very special to us. Thanks so much, Skye!

Combine that with the sounds of the birds, the breezes and the ocean, and Skye's sweet hospitality, and we had the quintessential Hawaiian country experience. We can't wait to come back! Our week here last summer was just what the doctor ordered - unbelievably relaxing. This sweet cottage is clean, comfortable, and private, yet part of the neighborhood and just a few steps from an uncrowded, swim-able beach. The location away from the crowds, yet an easy drive most anywhere we wanted to go, was great, too. Skye is the perfect host - friendly and attentive without being at all intrusive. We've recommended this place to friends and look forward to returning ourselves.

Aloha Skye, Well...it's good to see that we're not alone in thanking you and praising you for the Cottage by the Sea. The Hawaii that I've always dreamed of came true before my eyes here in Waimanalo. We felt right at home with green mountains in view, and the rain and mist too---after all, we are Seattlites! Your expansive personality and "hostess with mostess"is just what a traveler needs when arriving here. And this cottage---oh, wow. I noticed every detail! In fact, inspired at the marriage retreat to create a sensual "love nest"of our bedroom~~~we decided to replicate a bit of what you've done here in the cottage at home in our bedroom. It will not only be much more conducive to romance in our relationship; it will also serve to remind us of our refreshing days here in Waimanalo. And I close with gratitude to our Creator God---for the gift of the ocean, the surf, THE BEACH and these particular Islands. At least on this earth... we found our Paradise!

This charming seaside cottage just steps from the MOST beautiful and MOST deserted beach on Oahu lives up to it's description and photos and exceeds them, in our opinion. My husband and I wanted to experience the 'old Hawaii' ON Oahu, to be near the other sights we wanted to see. The town of Waimanalo and this cottage felt like 'old Hawaii' and yet the well-stocked city of Kailua was 12 minutes away...bustling Waikiki about 25 minutes away (which thankfully seemed a whole world away.) The hostess was a delight and great resource for our stay. We fell in love with the Winward side of Oahu and this area in particular. The garden surrounding the cottage is lush and flowery; I shot an entire roll of film in her gardens alone. Not surprisingly in a place so carefully and lovingly designed/decorated, romance and deep relaxation flourish. Enjoy!!

Before this trip I hadn't been on vacation in over a decade. This trip far exceeded my expectations and a big part of that was the stay at your wonderful cottage. We visited the entire Island on our trip and Waimanalo was my absolute favorite. The nearly private beach was amazing to see and after coming through Waikiki seeing tons of people everywhere. Your kindness and wisdom about the Island was greatly appreciated. We all had such a great time here! I hope you continue to share this paradise for years to come...I will definitely be back.
