350 Acre Central California Ranch Near Wine Country, Cal Poly

Seven Oaks Ranch is a beautiful 350 acre preserve just outside Santa Margarita in Pozo Valley, the heart of Central California. Historic San Luis Obispo and California Polytechnic State University are a mere fifteen miles away from our ranch which is surrounded by over 200 vineyards and wineries. The beaches of Avila, Pismo, Shell and Cayucos, as well as San Luis and Morro Bays, lie within a 45 minute drive from the ranch. Also within that range are the quaint historic towns of Templeton, Cambria, Paso Robles, Arroyo Grande and Los Osos.
The Missions at San Luis Obispo and San Miguel, as well as the Hearst Castle and Pozo Saloon, also provide entertaining afternoons. Even with the surrounding activities, many of our guests are very content simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere our Seven Oaks has to offer. Rolling hills covered with many trees of different varieties surrounding four seasonal ponds and streams provide you with the opportunity to picnic or read a book under an oak giant that has been shading that spot for over 500 years. Imagine!
Several ponds and streams usually manifest themselves during the months of February through May and can evaporate over the summer season. Drought years sometimes leave us stream and pondless until the next fruitful, rainy season.
Seven Oaks welcomes you with three available ranch homes, two of which are exclusively dedicated to the vacation rental market.
The three bedroom, two bath MANZANITA HOUSE, nearer to the road, has a deck off the front with a gas barbecue and an enclosed 6' cedar fenced backyard area for pet containment. The large master bedroom has a king bed and a cozy sitting area. The smaller cowboy room has a bunk bed with a double bed below and single above. The third bedroom has pine walls and a cal king bed. The bathrooms are not attached to the bedrooms but are directly outside the bedroom doors. Each bathroom is supplied with a hairdryer.
The large living, dining, and kitchen areas are light and cheery with a wall of french windows and doors and a great skylit ceiling. The tastefully furnished and decorated areas are supplied with standard appliances, cable television, satellite internet and unlimited national phone services excluding 4ll calls.
The GREAT OAK HOUSE, for larger groups, has five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Three bedrooms have cal king beds, one bedroom has a queen bed and the remaining bedroom has twin beds. The second level master bedroom suite is the only upstairs area and is approximately 700 square feet. It has a separate seating area and an outside deck with patio chairs and an umbrella table which is shaded by a number of aging oak trees. The first level master bedroom has a jacuzzi tub. The queen bedroom also has a private bathroom. Each of the four bathrooms is supplied with a hairdryer. Two of the the bedrooms share a private outside patio with entrances from their rooms.
A separate fee structure, approval and special arrangements must be made for parties exceeding twelve people.
The GREAT OAK HOUSE has three flat screen televisions. One is located above the bar in the large pool table room with a wood burning stove, where easy viewing from the four wing back chairs create a lovely, relaxed afternoon happy hour location. A 60" flat screen television is placed in the comfortable living room, also with a wood burning stove, where larger groups can gather for the movie experience. In the den, just off the large kitchen and sitting room, is a 40" flat screen television for more intimate and informative viewing. The kitchen bar seats four people, just adjacent to the large dining room, where two 7' x 4' dining tables provide ample, comfortable dining for 16 people.
The covered and lit patio off the pool table room has a gas barbecue with a side table and burner. The front deck leads to a bonfire ring surrounded by 8 chairs looking toward the windmill and 50 year old barn. A 20' picnic table shaded with two umbrellas is available for outside dining.
The PINE TREE POND HOUSE, occupied by the owners, is sometimes made available for special occasions and events such as family reunions, weddings, church or specific interest group activities (bicycle or car rallys, corporate retreats, wine and horse groups, graduations, etc). The two bedroom two and one-half bath home has a small kitchen, two large living areas and spacious deck. Two wood burning fireplaces provide cozy living, and the family dining and game room areas are enclosed by a light and airy french window wall and door system.
The entire ranch is available for the use and enjoyment of its guests. A topographical map of Seven Oaks Ranch is supplied to visiting guests with suggested trails and activities. We also offer free wine tasting from one of our local wineries, Ancient Peaks, and child care can be arranged with prior notice.
Special supervised adventure type activities may be available and conducted by the owners if schedules and time permit. (i.e. Off-road ranch excursions, skeet shooting at Shotgun Hill, Hay rides etc.)
We hope you embrace the adventure and experience of Ranch and country living as much as we do.

Four couples who are long time friends stayed here while attending a wedding near by. We had a wonderful time there! The place is large enough so we all had our space, very clean and came well equipped with everything you need to cook. There was a ton of wood in the fire pit and we had fires every night...the owners were so gracious, they even brought us over marsh mellows late at night when we called asking where we could get them...can you image that! They also let us use the electric car so we could roam around the expansive ranch. We saw so many animals and we are still debating whether we saw a badger or a panther in the back yard,,,,it may have been too many glasses of wine that night...not sure:). The picture shows water but there isn't any now, but just sitting and looking out on the meadow full of wildflowers was amazing. Quite, peaceful and just beautiful! We loved it and are already discussing when we are going to return next year.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife and I spent some time in California traveling up and down the coast from Sonoma to San Diego. We generally do not plan where we are going to stay; rather we make last minute arrangements on the fly - depending on how adventurous we are feeling. It does not always work out for the best as, believe it or not, some places are not as advertised on the internet. Once in a while we find a real treat. Seven Oaks Ranch in Santa Margarita, CA was a real gem of a find. We stayed on this 350 acre ranch in a three bedroom home - one of three on the Ranch, two of which are rented. The home was clean when we arrived, quiet, comfortable, with a spacious open plan layout; and the views were beautiful. Just a really nice place. Susan and Greg who live much of the time on another house nearby went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at home. They were proactive and anticipated our needs and were always available to answer any questions we had. We enjoyed relaxing on the porch eating breakfast while looking over the grounds or riding the buggy on the property observing nature. We ate our meals at the house – the kitchen has everything you need and more. San Luis Obispo is about 20 minutes away and that’s where we purchased our food to bring back to the Ranch. In the evening we relaxed watching satellite TV in the family room. We used Seven Oaks as a base to visit the Central Coast and spent time driving through the wine country and visiting several nearby and not so nearby towns. We both thought the Central Coast landscape was more beautiful than Napa or Sonoma. We could not wait to get back to the house at the end of the day and some days we did not even bother to leave because we were so comfortable just staying in. In fact, we traveled to Malibu and Santa Monica for a couple days and drove all the way back to Seven Oaks because we loved it so much. Our only regret is that we did not have more time. We cannot wait to go back one day for a longer stay. Susan and Greg were the perfect hosts and we have no hesitation in recommending Seven Oaks.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My stay here was great!! The ad and pictures do not even do this home justice, everything from the amazing landscape to the ridiculously comfortable beds was amazing (we all left wanting to know where we could buy the sheets and comforters). I spent the weekend here for a bachorlette party with 10 girls and it was so much fun! The home is huge so there is lots of room for your own space and relaxation but plenty of room to hang out as well, from the long dining table to the pool room, to the activities provided for outside fun (horse shoes, corn hole, golf carts). Susan and Greg were so gracious and welcoming too, they came to introduce themselves and if we ever needed anything they were just a phone call away. It is away from the city life which makes it so peaceful but close enough to do all the activities in the nearby cities as well, we went wine tasting one day in Paso Robles and the limo had no problem getting to us and it was only a short drive, we also went and had a girls night in San Luis, the location is perfect! I will definitely be coming back to stay at this house, we had such an awesome time and it really felt like a home away from home. I cannot say enough good things about this place, it is awesome!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful time at the Ranch. We just went up to be with friends & relax. We played pool, bean bag toss & Bocce Ball. Took a walk & a scenic trip around the property on a golf cart. We also went skeet shooting. There is so much to do at the ranch. If you just want to lounge around there is 3 sitting rooms in the house and about 6 outside including a bonfire pit. Wish we could have stayed longer. We also spotted about 15 deer while there. A little off the beaten path but Ohhhhh soooo quiet. I haven't had that great of a nights sleep in forever!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Had a large family gathering last summer on this wonderful range and we all decided to return this winter. Second time was even nicer as we realized all the great places to visit nearby, as well. Adults and kids alike enjoyed this place, with fishing on site and camp fires nightly. The owners, who were gracious hosts each time, made us feel right at home. House is large, well stocked with all the amenities for added convenience. We look forward to visiting again in the Spring to experience all seasons in this lovely vacation home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Extended family from all over the US came together for our nephew's wedding in Atascadero. The location was perfect for wine tasting, proximity to the wedding location and general relaxation. It was great that our entire extended family could stay in one place. Susan was the perfect hostess. The Great Oaks house had all the amenities we needed and the beds were great. We probably enjoyed the fire pit and the pool table the most! We will definitely return if we can ever get family schedules coordinated again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Our family visited Santa Margarita for a wedding and needed a place close to the event to stay. WHAT A GEM! This beautiful house has everything you can imagine for entertaining and being entertained. We held a pre-wedding barbeque, played some bocce, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery on their property. The property owner is wonderful, sharing her knowledge of the area and making helpful recommendations about things to see and do. She welcomes you like long lost friends. We enjoyed some bluegrass at the Santa Margarita Tavern (warning, it isn't open late), the Range has excellent food, and it is close to all that wine country in Paso Robles has to offer. We all wished we could have stayed longer and hope to visit again soon. This was my first VRBO experience, and if the next is half as nice, I will be happy.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family really enjoyed 7oaks. We were a group of 17 in both The Great Oak House & The Manzanita House. Our wedding was at the Santa Margarita Ranch, so we were wedding central. The area is spacious and handled our rehearsal dinner for 45 with ease plus a Sunday brunch. We all enjoyed the trails, hiked and biked plus the wildlife views. Susan & Greg were a great help, very accommodating, referring us to local rental companies plus anything else we could need. A great time was had by all. We would love to return some day!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What a wonderful long weekend! We had my whole family, 10 of us stayed at the house and more friends and family came up for a picnic on Saturday. The house is so spacious and super comfy. Plenty of room for all of us to spread out. My daughter had a new baby and we never heard peep! We all sat around the dining table and ate, and played games and cards and talked about old times. Susan and Greg were so helpful, and came for a visit. They live across the pond. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing time. We learned a few things. The grocery store is not close, so we'll bring food in next time. But he antiquing was awesome. Can't wait to return. We will make it a biannual event!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family enjoyed the peaceful location of 7 Oaks. We came to celebrate a wedding at Rancho Santa Margarita. It was nice to be so close to the venue. We loved the wildlife, beautiful views, and watching the stars at night. The house was very comfortable, spacious, and fully stocked with everything a family could need. It was beautifully decorated, and the beds sheets were so soft. The children enjoyed watching the deer, collecting feathers, and going on nature walks. We were a party of 6 adults, and 4 children. 7 OAKS was a great place to connect with family and friends, in a quiet and natural setting.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: Greg and Susan Reaume retired from occupations in the Los Angeles area approximately five years ago. Greg was an attorney/building contractor and Susan an executive medical secretary. They are avid boaters and have cruised on their 53' motor sailing ketch, "Tavana", located in Long Beach, California, throughout the gold coast of Mexico and the Baja, Sea of Cortez. Summer months often find them, in Southern California waters, sailing between the Channel Islands, Catalina Island, and down the coast to San Diego. Currently they reside in Central California on Seven Oaks Ranch. The central coast has captured their hearts and they now spend a lot of their time improving the ranch property. Their love of the area has nurtured a desire to share their wonderful ranch with others while developing new friendships. Hence, the vacation home rental idea was conceived. Having first acquired the interest in the ranch over 20 years ago, it has always been their plan to create a compound for their family. The vacation home rental idea seemed the perfect solution--creating a place where the extended family could congregate on holidays and reunions, while simultaneously generating some income to service and maintain the property. Since Greg and Susan love meeting new people and establishing new friendships, vacation rentals became the perfect vehicle. The VRBO business is just now getting underway. The initial guests enjoyed the Great Oak House in the first two weeks of June, and gave "A+" reviews in spite of the fact that some things were not finished. An outdoor jacuzzi, horse shoe pits, a bocci ball court, and miscellaneous landscaping is currently underway at the Great Oak House. Four RV spaces with water and power, four horse corrals and extensive 3-rail white fencing adorning the ranch property is scheduled to be completed before the November 2010, the hi-rental season. Come and enjoy.
Why the Owner Chose Santa Margarita:
Central California is, in our opinion, California's best kept secret!! Low density living in an incredibly clean, clear and green environment gives the area and the people a comfortable, secure feeling where stress and tension seem virtually non-existent. The area offers just about every type of life style experience and adventure all within about a 30-40 mile radius. Beaches, bays, lakes, mountains and streams along with great wine and horse country make San Luis Obispo a spectacular place to live or visit and vacation. We've traveled extensively and find this place to be among the top spots in the world. Come judge for yourselves.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
Our Ranch has many wonderful activities to offer all of which are not described here in this listing. We are receptive to your special events and needs and can customize your visit so it accomplishes and exceeds your goals and expectations. What's your idea?
