Waianae is a little town about 35 miles from the big city with hardly any tourists (yea!). The first thing we did upon entering this studio was to open the door to the lanai to take in the views - and this is what we did each morning after a good night's rest - with the window slightly open, the sound of the waves lulled us to sleep. In the daytime the sound of the waves crashing on the shore was louder but still so wonderful to listen to. We also enjoyed watching the many surfers and paddle boarders while having breakfast and dinner on the lanai (lunches were eaten out at shrimp trucks on the north shore) prepared in the small but fully equipped kitchen. Thank you!

We enjoyed 10 days in September 2011 in this beautiful condo on the beach. The pictures cannot really portray how spectacular the scenery is. It's private and a retreat from the busyness of the city. We got engaged on the lanai, what a beautiful backdrop!

When you live in Hawaii and vacation there it is called a staycation. We live in Ko-Olina, a resort twenty minutes from Makaha, but when I walked thru the door of this condo, my heart skipped a beat. The view took my breath away. The ocean literally is at your door! The unit was designed to maximize space and the beauty and quality of the furnishings enhanced the whole experience. A major plus was the privacy. That alone made our staycation worth it! In the unit you didn't see anyone, except the surfers way out on the ocean. We loved it so much that we went home and looked into buying a unit, but the design and layout of the other available units didn't come close to this one. We'll just have to come back and stay here again.!!! We have already recommended this condo to several friends.

My wife and I stayed at this condo for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the condo is a wonderful little piece of paradise right on the ocean. We originally booked for 3 nights and extended an additional night, as It was hard to leave. Fortunately, the condo was available for an additional night and Alice was very responsive in accommodating our extra day.

Excellent location & Unit

We stayed here for 7 nights and really loved it even without the A/C! The ocean/wave views were outstanding! The tide pools were a suprising plus; the peacefulness, it was very comfortable without A/C due to the trade winds that blew right through our livingroon and out the numerous high louvered windows on the opposit wall and front door - very cool. We kept the sliding doors opened all the time - very safe. The fan in the living room could be turned on if there wasn't enough air movement. The area was very local and very nice. The third floor provided security and an outstanding view of everything! We hope to stay here again in the future! Robert Martin

I recently stayed at Makaha Shores and was blown away by the room. It is absolutely beautiful, spacious for a small group, tastefully decorated and has amazing views. The room is right on the water, and looking out on the lanai, you truly feel at peace. The sounds of the waves and ocean are so relaxing and therapeutic. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone who is interested in experiencing a "real" taste of Hawaiian culture. It is very quiet, without the hustle and bustle of tourists. Makaha beach park is the beach on the property and it is gorgeous. The description on this rental is very accurate. I think the photos don't do enough justice for the location of the room. It is much prettier in person, and you cannot add the sounds of the ocean to this written recommendation. Also, even though you are on the western part of Oahu, you can hop in your rental and drive to the North Shore, Honolulu, or The windward side of Oahu for some tourist action!

Why the Owner Chose Makaha:
The Waianae Coast is a beautiful area. My husband lived in the area for 13 years and always wanted to go back. This apartment is in an extremely well maintained building and is the only building on Makaha surfing beach.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Our apartment is in a great location in the building. Because it faces the ocean, you can completely forget that you are in an apartment. The lanai walls of each adjacent apartment are spaced apart for complete outdoor privacy-you really can feel like you are in your own world. We have tried to furnish and decorate it to enhance that feeling.
