How often can you watch a superpod of dolphin playfully jump and arc through the ocean just offshore, as you eat breakfast on your lanai? Apparently everyday, when you stay at Kevin's wonderful Unit 103 at the Poipu Palms. And if that isn't enough, his unit sits forward of the other groundfloor units, allowing a virtually unobstructed view of the amazing Kauai sunsets. As former owners of a home on the North Shore of Kauai, we love to visit and explore the entire island, but still we found it hard to leave our perch in Poipu each day, as it offered tropical perfection and ultimate comfort. A short walk to the south offered all the amenities of the (former) Embassy Suites and Grand Hyatt hotels (be sure to check out the Hyatt's beautiful and classy Stevenson's Library, which includes an amazing Koa wood bar and a couple of pool tables), while a stroll to the north presented Brenneke's Beach Broiler restaurant and the beautiful Waiohai hotel. All these locations are close by when you want them, but far enough away to allow you to feel like you are on a deserted tropical isle as you lay poolside at the PP, with nothing but the swaying green palms, fluffy white clouds and glistening blue ocean surrounding you. Kevin has appointed Unit 103 with everything you might need and more, with an amazingly well-stocked closet, full of cleaning and paper products, snorkel gear, etc. We even found a bottle of "Goo Gone" we used to remove a wad of gum that got stuck to our wallet in the airport x-ray machine! Plus, the washer and dryer allowed us to pack light, so we had plenty of room to bring home the island wear we always end up buying. There was nothing we needed that Kevin did not provide (except, of course, a way to stop the passage of time). (One passing note: a renter from another unit told us the pool might be closed for a few days in the near future to allow the deck area to be painted. This work could already be done, but as a precaution, you might want to check with Kevin if any rehab is scheduled at the PP during your vacation dates.) Now that our time in paradise is behind us, we are suffering from serious withdrawals, even here in sunny So. Cal., which just proves there is no place like Kauai and the Poipu Palms. Thanks for your hospitality, Kevin. We look forward to returning soon. Steve & Bonnie Brennan Jim & Judy O'Brien

The owner & his daughter did a great job of answering condo questions and explaining final arrangements. We ate most meals on the lanai and the view was incredible--unobstructed ocean view, complete with a few sea turtles and dolphins! I would not describe the condo as "luxurious", but we found it very confortable. Appreciated the access to wireless internet & also the outdoor charcoal grill. I'd stay there again! Would highly recommend the hula demonstration at the Hyatt. (It's during their happy hour a couple of times a week and is free) Also, the "heritage hike" which starts at the Hyatt and runs for quite a ways along the golf course is a beautiful and a relatively easy hike.

We spent 4 nights at Poipu Palms #103 in May 2010 after spending a week at the Mariott in Ohau. We wish it were the other way around!! Kauai was much more enjoyable than Ohau and Poipu Palms was perfect. It's clean, comfortable and perfectly equipped for a great stay. We looked forward to drinks each day on the Lanai after a busy day of tourist activities. The view is spectacular and we were even treated to some late season whale watching. Highly recommend and hope to return someday.

Kevin & Nicole -Aloha, Mahalo & Wow! We stayed at the beautiful Poipu Palms # 103 May 25-June 1. We had been in Honolulu the week before and purposely wanted to stay in a relaxed atmosphere our 2nd week in Hawaii. This was the perfect place to do that. I'll be repeating what others have said, but it's true. You have everything you need--everything. There are enough backup supplies to take care of all of Poipu Palms. Loved the washer/dryer and dish washer! Each bedroom had its own bathroom and all the island decor was tasteful and lovely. The kitchen granite counter tops were gorgeous and the floors through out the condo are very beautiful. The lanai was a favorite place to relax and watch activity on the ocean front--be it dolphins, sea turtles or sail boats. I have to say the sound of the waves was so special--you'll miss it after you leave. Poipu Beach park is a very short drive away and we happened to see a napping monk seal on the beach--very special. Another highlight for us was a helicopter tour over Kaui. It was breath taking. We flew with Sunshine Helicopters--very good folks. We had some great meals and adventures in Kauai for sure--and it was always wonderful to come home to our condo. This condo has the absolute best location of any on the property. It sits forward of the rest and has no one to the immediate right or left. The view is wonderful! The grounds and pool are very clean and well maintained. Finally, I have to say that all our communications with Kevin & Nicole have been a real pleasure. You will definitely enjoy your stay at Poipu Palms #103!!

The other comments pretty much say it all. We loved our stay. The place was actually better than expected, which is quite a lot. The view from the living room and lanai is spectacular. We watched whales and turtles from close up. The pool is a little small, but well tended and a good place for a bit of exercise or to cool off. Perfect for two couples. Would love to stay there again.

We stayed in Kevin's condo for two weeks in Feb. 2009. Our comments would echo many of those already expressed. Although we have made many trips to Hawaii, this was a first to Kauai for most of our group of four. We have never stayed in a property on any of the islands where we would see turtles, whales, and dolphins all from our lanai on a daily basis and amazingly close to shore. What a treat!!!! Our only complaint....not having been to Kauai before we had a terrible time finding the place after dark. We couldn't get our GPS system to work (probably my fault), and the directions were inadequate and confusing. We felt lucky to finally find Pe'pe road and Poipu Palms. We enjoyed our daily walks along the cliff side to the Hyatt for a morning paper and coffee. You can't go wrong on this. The Brennemans from Oregon

Mahalo to Kevin and Nicole-we could not have asked for a better place to spend the 2008 holdiays than this condo! Not only is it beautiful and well stocked (no need to bring shampoo, soap, towles, etc) the condo is very well maintained and clean! This condo is in an ideal location-it was very quiet and relaxing! We have stayed at other properties on Kauai and there is just no comparison. The best part of our stay was the daily whale activity-every morning, as we sat on the lanai, we were treated to whales, just off shore-what a treat! Kauai is a special place for us and we are looking forward to our next visit to and our next stay at the Poipu Palms #103!

We stayed here a week in September. Best place to stay for the money! We had two couples and one baby. Location is everything. We enjoyed the view and that it was close enough to walk to Poipu Beach. It is great to check yourself in at your own convienence. We recomend snorkel bob's for good equiptment and poipu beach was a great place to snorkel. I saw lot's of fish and three different sea turtles. We will stay here again.

What a wonderful place, the view is breath taking. The decor was beautiful and the kitchen was perfect, we cooked everynight. We saw the dolphins and the Turtles. Special note: Do your shopping at Star Market and Costco if you have a Costco card they seemed to have the best deals. Also the Gelato place in the poipu shopping center was great. Hanaleai Kayaks Hawaiian Surf adventures for surfing instructions and Outfitters for zipline tour are wonderful people.

Stayed here 8/17 to 8/30. Kevin and Nicole are great, and too modest. This unit is one of the best kept secrets out there. Please, Please don't tell anyone else. Everything you could want is here, with all the conveniences of home. Nothing is left out, down to the boogie boards. I think we ate out once. All other times we ate on the lanai. Met the neighbors and had them over for dinner as well. What an escape from the rest of the world. If you are looking for rest, relaxation, beauty and a recharge of your batteries, this is the place. If you are looking for nightlife, parties, and noise, don't come and leave it to the rest of us.... We are coming back to our new found oasis. Thank you again Kevin and Nicole for making your home available to us.
