Feel like you're getting away to the country in this early 1900's-era farmhouse, just five minutes from downtown Portland, and 30 minutes to world-class Willamette Valley wineries.
Here, you'll enjoy solitude and room to breathe before heading out to explore the city. You'll be centrally located to make easy day trips to wine country. Sip your complimentary Peet's coffee on the porch swing overlooking the native Northwest front garden. Or stroll around the 3/4-acre, fenced, back yard teeming with birds, frogs, butterflies and sometimes deer.
Inside, you'll feel the warmth and charm maintained in this home, complete with a bay window and oversize original windows, arched doorways, fir floors and a wood-burning fireplace.
Retreat to the master suite, located away from the main living spaces. Here, floor-to-ceiling windows offer a private view to the back garden. The two other bedrooms, each with full-size beds, share a jack and jill bath.
From here, it's a short two-block walk to the grocery store, Starbucks, and neighborhood pub specializing in handcrafted microbrews. Check out the eclectic mix of independently-owned shops and restaurants in Multnomah Village, less than a mile away.
Freeway access is a breeze from this central location: I-5, Hwy 217 and Hwy 26. Close to the Oregon Zoo, OMSI, Lewis and Clark College, OHSU . . . and all that is funky Portland.
The house is on a bus line and bike lane. Downtown Portland is only a 20-minute bike ride away.

The little red farmhouse was a charming, cozy little house. The back yard was beautiful and we really enjoyed the gardens. Our grandson loved watching the squirrels in the pear tree and eating grapes from the vines. The house was easy to find and very comfortable. We were able to make ourselves at home, and it was convenient to the vineyards for our son's wedding. The owner left a complete list of instructions and helpful hints. Wi-Fi was available and we were given the necessary information for all of the amenities. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family traveling in the area. The house was convenient to a grocery store, which made it very convenient for an extended stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We loved our stay at the little red farmhouse. Our children had such a great time exploring the gardens. It reminds me of a secret garden, so whimsical especially with the flowers blooming. I loved waking up to look out onto the backyard. Such a difference to get away from the noise of the city. The accomodations were great. The house has lots of character of an old house. A good place to retreat. We hope to get back again soon to visit. Thanks so much!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We immediately felt at home in this charming farmhouse. There was plenty of space for our family to sleep and relax in this well appointed home with all of the necessary amenities. It is close to everything you wish to get to in Portland or the surrounding areas, but quiet at night and a great place for an after dinner stroll throughout the neighborhood. We stopped at the family style brewery our first night for dinner, after traveling for a long day from the East Coast, and picked up groceries at the shop another block down. There are more than several ways to access Downtown Portland, so don't fret about the comments that list road construction. We had a map and smart phones and enjoyed exploring the area on our way to the Japanese Gardens (beautiful and serene), Saturday Market (also on Sunday and very fun), the Portlandia Statue, Powell Books, Sauvie Island, the Columbia River Gorge and its plethora of amazing waterfalls, etc. We didn't get to everything on our list and with family in the area I know we'll be back. I hope the Little Red Farmhouse is available to rent when we go!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

I found this home a delightful place to stay while in Portland to visit my daughter. The location is so convenient and amazingly quiet. I loved the acreage...hard to believe I was in a large city! Grounds were lovely and enjoyable even in the cold wintery time of my visit. Inside the home was wonderful. I loved the fresh, decorated Christmas tree. The antique furnishings are elegant; decor is tasteful and quite comfortable. The kitchen was fun. I found myself dancing while the coffee was brewing. I really enjoyed the master bedroom, as I felt as if I were sleeping outside. The owner was excellent to work with. I'll go back. In fact, I've already booked one return trip.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Stayed at the farmhouse 2 different weeks in 2011. First time, it was last minute when another place fell through in March. Second time, was in June--during a beautiful week of summer. The house is wonderful and peaceful. I traveled with my dog, and he loved the huge, fenced backyard--something he doesn't get very often. The house is in a great location with easy access to many major roads. Hoping to get back to Portland soon and stay at the farmhouse.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners.

Our family came from Washington, California and Oregon and met for two nights at the Farmhouse. We had such a relaxing and casual time with wonderful accomodations. There was plenty of room for all of us and even though the weather didn't allow for time outside, that would have been great too with lots of room to roam and enjoy. The house is set up perfectly for a family to be together, play games together and relax together! And the coffee was wonderful too. The owner was really great to work with and made the process so easy!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had such a fun Thanksgiving week in this little bungalow. It was truly a home away from home. When we arrived we were welcomed with fresh flowers. The house was equipped with everything we needed to make a feast for Thanksgiving dinner. The location is so perfectly accessible to everything, from the grocery store to different restaurants. It's easy access to the freeway and the nearby Washington Square mall was awesome and made Black Friday so fun and convenient. A lot of things are within walking distance from the house. The owner was very clear with the rules and instructions, very easy to talk to. We had an awesome time and YES I would recommend this place to friends and would stay there again when we get a chance.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

Five of us stayed here for girl's weekend. It was not quite what we were expecting based on the pictures, description, and reviews. Pros: Very clean, spacious, accommodating owners, walking distance to pub & grocery store. There were items in the fridge and pantry that we were free to use, lots of extra linens and pillows, clear instructions on how to clean up before leaving so that we would get the deposit back. The bedrooms were roomy and allowed us space to include an extra place to sleep with an air mattress. Cons: The wall paper and plaster were peeling off of the walls and ceilings, the oven and stove did not work properly (the owner left a note about these quirks but if you plan on cooking meals, it does not work well). There were very large spiders occupying the yard and porch. It took us more like 20+ minutes to drive downtown or $40 to take a cab so downtown is not as close as mentioned in the description. Multnohmah Village is 2 miles away and down a busy road which is not pedestrian friendly. The owner was slow to return the deposit check after confirming that everything was clean and undamaged. Also was surprised that the owner cashed the check instead of holding on to it until after the stay.Owner response: I'm afraid there was a wall where the plaster was pulling away from the original lath backing. Problem was, the house was already booked and we couldn't get in to make the repairs. First break we had, the wall was repaired, and the entryway, living room, dining room and kitchen freshly painted and updated with new lighting fixtures. We also added a brand-new range in the kitchen. There was some road construction going on at this time, near Multnomah Village (less than one-mile away) which may have made the quick 10-minute trip to downtown longer than usual.

We stayed in this home for 5 nights and enjoyed every moment. Our party included grandma and grandpa, mom and dad plus 2-1/2 year old and there was plenty of room for all. The yard was somewhat overgrown, but in a beautiful way, and there was a campfire pit there which we enjoyed using. The owners were most pleasant and easy to work with which makes the whole experience excellent. I would definitely highly recommend both the owners and house if you are looking for a comfortable, homey, and pleasant vacation home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This house was very charming and well-equipped for a relaxing week in Portland. Downtown was a quick drive away, but the quiet neighborhood made it feel like home. The back yard was fantastic. We hosted dinner for a friend from Portland, and she loved the house. The owners were very responsive and helpful with any questions we had. The listing and reviews are all accurate - this is a perfect place to stay when visiting Portland! A note on local eateries: we found our favorite sushi place, Maki, in nearby suburb, Tigard. Starbucks is blocks away, near a grocery store, as well as a burger-n-beer joint within walking distance. It's also a block or so from the bus line. Would definitely recommend this property, and we hope to stay here on our next Portland excursion!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
