We stayed at the cabin for 5 nights, and time just went by way too quick! Such a relaxing cabin with the creek running right in the front yard. The kids tubed right from the house with tubes provided at the house. The Petersons were very easy to work with and very accommodating. The house was more than roomy enough for 2 families. The adults had their own living room, and the kids had their own. This was very convenient. We enjoyed using the amenities at the resort also (indoor swimming, putt putt golf, pool, etc. This was a great get away.

We spent the weekend at this cabin. What a delight. Very clean and comfortable. Owners very accommodating and extremely nice. Quiet and peaceful with all the amenities. Will definitely stay there on our next visit to Ellijay.

Great for a Group
Great for a Group
We stayed in the cabin over a very rainy/stormy 4th of July weekend but the cabin was spacious enough for everyone to have fun without getting cabin fever. There was plenty of room for TV watching, puzzles and even quiet spaces for reading a book. The screened porch made a nice place to sit outside and watch the rains. And as the Petersons were gracious enough to let us bring the dogs, the screened porch made a really nice place for the dogs to be outside but not in the rain (and the dogs loved walking up and down the road – rain did not bother them on bit). The tree canopy stopped enough rain so we were able to grill dinner while the kids attempted to catch lightening bugs. We did get a break from the weather and where able to tube - the "creek" was pretty fast from the rain but it just made that more exciting. We saw deer (even two fawns) and wild turkey on the drive . And let me tell you, the drive to the cabin is great, as the road goes from asphalt to dirt to smaller dirt road you really feel like you are leaving it all behind. We did lose cell phone coverage (AT&T) but I consider that another BIG plus (side note, Verizon worked at the cabin). Hopefully we can get some better weather next time because it was a wonderfully relaxing trip despite the weather.

Most Delightful Stay
Most Delightful Stay
We just got back from a wonderful weekend at the Peterson's cabin. Hilda was most gracious and responsive during our booking of the cabin. It was just my wife and I and our two granddaughters (5 and 8) so the cabin was plenty spacious. When we arrived the cabin was nice and cool with all the bathrooms and bedrooms sparkling clean. The girls loved fishing off the dock among all the activities. We counted 51 deer during our stay. The Rec Center miniture golf and indoor pool was most enjoyable. We were afraid the tubing for the girls would be too much of a challenge due to the water flow so I did it alone. Walked up the road about 20 minutes and then floated down which took about 25 minutes. We enjoyed the fire pit Sat. night to take off the night chill and great for toasting marshmellows. Wonderful location in a very shaded lot. Sitting on the front porch listening to the waters of the creek flow by was most relaxing. We finished off the weekend with a delicious lunch at Col. Poole's BBQ Pig Hill of Fame.

We Love staying at this cabin!
We Love staying at this cabin!
We just stayed at this cabin for the 2nd consecutive year and we have been happy with the cabin and the owners both times. We thoroughly enjoyed the tubing down the river, the spacious cabin, there's plenty room for parking, and the outside firepit is a nice touch too! The owners are always helpful and accommodating as well. We are thinking we might make it a family tradition to visit this cabin each year!

Staying at the "Fishing Cabin" was a joy. The cabin is so unique and we loved the rock floors. Even though there were other cabins along the river, it was very private. It was such fun getting up and having coffee on the little dock and feeding the minnows and fish. We really enjoyed both TVs with DISH network. This is the first cabin we have stayed in that we got to know a lot of people up and down the road. It was fun talking to the different people staying in the cabins. We'd walk up about 1/2 mile and float on tubes back to the cabin. We enjoyed the deer and a beaver in the river. Also, used the pools in the resort. Mike and Hilda were so very, very helpful and would be there on the spot if there was anything needed.

We loved the cabin, especially the fire pit and fishing dock, as well as the tubing. As a constructive tip only, I would have liked it even more if the cabin had wifi and or a telephone line, and a working washer dryer. The road leading into the property was scary at first, but once we got use to it, not so bad. We saw lots of deer in the community and enjoyed the amenities as well.

We had a great time at the cabin! It is beautiful and the weather was wonderful. The only negative was the cabin is not conducive to anyone handicapped. My mother is elderly and handicapped, and the rock floors and steps were almost more than she could manage. But everything else was great! Thank you!

Terrific Cabin Better than excellent fishing!
Terrific Cabin Better than excellent fishing!
The cabin was better than advertised. Clean, right on the water, actually has four bedrooms. Staff was extremely helpful. Satelite TV in both living areas. Yes, it has two living rooms. If you have a divided family (Auburn/Alabama/Georgia/Tennessee) you can watch both games at the same time. Fishing was wonderful. We will be back. You need to check this place out!

Year Purchased: 1995
About the owner: We had purchased Trout Haven as our personal cabin. We came up almost every weekend from Atlanta area until we built a permanent home just down from our cabin. We hope others will enjoy the area as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Ellijay:
This is the perfect weekend getaway from metro Atlanta. Once you turn onto our dirt road, you feel the cares drop away and as you round the bend and see the creek you realize just how beautiful the area is.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The fishing is great, and relaxing with a good book in the rockers on the porch is a wonderful way to while away an afternoon. A trip into Ellijay is filled with visits to antique stores and several restaurants you will want to check out.
