Crescent City chateau / country house description
This beautiful 153 acre white fenced lakefront ranch rests on Lake Earl, the largest freshwater lagoon in California. It is comprised of 90 acres wildlife conservation area and 60 acres of pastureland, redwood timberland and streams.
This is one of the most beautiful properties in Del Norte county. Every evening on the deck is a sunset like no other, watching the ducks, geese, egrets, blue herons and deer in the front yard, silhouetted by the setting sun. Sit in the hot tub with your favorite drink, your favorite people, and relax, bond and re-center yourself! There are countless trails on the beach and in the redwoods to horseback ride. Bring your own horses or rent from nearby stables. There are also lots of opportunities for quad riding, and plenty of room to park your trailers in or near the barn of this working ranch. We are also prepared to host your wedding and reception or family reunion. We have screened-in outdoor canopies and chairs available with 4500 square feet of living space and 2000 square feet of deck.
Entering the home you are greeted with modern, comfortable elegance. The great room has 2 unique focal points. At one end is a two-sided, see-through fireplace with gorgeous "country rubble" stonework. At the other end is a magnificent piece of art, a 9' X 4' redwood log chainsaw carving of "The Last Supper". The master suite is spacious, with a king size Tempurepedic sleigh bed, 52" HD TV, wood and gas stone fireplace, and huge master bath with jetted tub and a large corner marble shower with stone pebble flooring and two shower heads. The sunroom has a beautiful gas fireplace at one end, a wall of windows facing the lake to the west and a 52" HD TV with blue-ray player and HD satellite. All bedrooms have Sealy Posturepedic mattresses and antique sleigh beds. The detached studio has it's own full bath and kitchenette.
Enjoy the beauty and peaceful tranquility of this one-of-a kind lakefront estate. Listen to the sounds of nature, the frogs on the 2 acre pond (canoe available)and the owls at night. Watch the abundant wildlife roam and the sheep and cattle graze. Gather fresh eggs for breakfast from the chicken coop in the barn. Wander through the redwoods and along the creek that runs through the trees. Walk along Kellog Beach 2 miles down the country road and fly a kite or beachcomb for shells, driftwood and other treasures. Leave in a relaxed state of mind.

Beautiful home to stay at
Beautiful home to stay at
While we somehow missed the road to turn on, I immediately recognized it by the beautiful white picket fence and the tree-lined driveway. Becky, the owner, met us upon our arrival to show us around. The pictures of the house represent what the inside/outside looks like. We loved staying out of the town where there weren't any neighbors. Unfortunately for us, we were fogged in for our entire stay (unusual for this time of year) and therefore didn't get to experience the pretty sunsets or sunrises for that matter. We did enjoy the hot tub as well as just walking around the grounds saying hello to the farm animals. The inside of the home is very roomy and the master bdrm is huge. The kitchen had everything you needed, not to mention delicious cookies made by Becky. Also met her husband, Dennis, who was also very nice to deal with. The security deposit was returned promptly. If you're a family of 4 like we were or a larger party, I'd highly recommend this home. There's room for everybody. They have a studio apt attached to the house, which we didn't use but peeked through the window and it would be great for someone if you had a larger group and they wanted their own space.

Lake Luxury At Its Best : )
Lake Luxury At Its Best : )
My husband and I rented this lake side home for 3 days in early October 2013 and my review words will never begin to discribe what a fabulous relaxing vacation we had. The owner, whom is very nice and answered any questions we had, met us at the house as the sun was setting and she made sure we didnt miss the beautiful sunset out on the massive deck which contains a very warm hot tub! I could go on and on about all the amenities the home offers, needless to say its not lacking anything that you may need for your trip away from home! The home description is right on track from the moment you step in the door. Beautifully decorated, clean, and the ambience surrounds you like a fuzzy warm blanket! Alot of space for weddings, reunions, anniversary celebrations, the uses are endless. Thinking of staying in Crescent City area? We highly recommend discovering the true meaning of beauty in this lake side vacation home which offers beautiful views, peaceful surrroundings, plenty of reading material to learn about the areas history, and gathering at least one egg for breakfast from the chickens whom live in the barn. : ) Want to thank Dennis and Becky for sharing their gorgeous home with us!

Our event was awesome! The venue was spectacular! Everyone was so impressed and thought it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to. This venue set the stage for everything we did. The home was fully furnished, comfortable and very clean. It was like staying at a 5 star hotel!

A slice of heaven - this is how I felt during our 4 night stay. We were a party of 19: 1 great grandma, 2 grandparents, 3 grown children with their spouses and 10 great grandchildren ranging from 7 years old to 3 months. We were a diverse group to say the least and each adult said this reunion site was "perfect". It's the first time all the adults have agreed on anything! Some words I heard often from the adults were "peaceful", "serene", "comfortable", "spectacular views", "amazing weather", "private" and "perfect". The children kept saying, "I don't want to leave. I have to go pet Lego one more time. I need to see the osprey nest and go on the kayak." We are a family with 4 professional photographers who truly appreciated the multitude of amazing photo opportunities outdoors. Indoors the rooms were spacious, clean and very kid safe - a big priority for us. The decor was tasteful and every amenity was provided from a massage table in the master bedroom suite to a fully stocked library of books and dvds in the family room. We would have been completely satisfied staying just on the property but with the Redwoods Stout Grove just a 10 minute drive and the Harris Beach tide pool in Brookings a 20 minute drive we did venture out. Everything was so accessible it made day trips a pleasure and nights around the fire pit roasting s'mores a treat. I could go on and on. I just have to say this is the best reunion our family has ever had and I believe this location is what made it work for us. From the moment we arrived and greeted the families coming I felt at home. Sharing time with loved ones in a peaceful, beautiful setting with wonders around every corner - that is my slice of heaven. Thanks so much to Dennis and Becky for sharing this gem, being quick and responsive with inquiries, and for making the rental process simple and easy. I hope we'll be able to return.

a few days by the lake
a few days by the lake
Wow! When you read the description of the 'wall of windows' overlooking the lake...it does not even begin to describe what you see when you walk in the front door! The back of the house, and the master BR all have tremendous views of the lake, and on a clear day the sunset is absolutely gorgeous. We spent some twilight hours in the hot tub watching the changing sky colors. The animals were so much fun to visit with and take pictures of. As of this persons review there were twin baby goats, and a few lambs along with several adults that were very social. We will definately be coming back. If you get a chance - go to Fort Dick Stables and do some horseback riding. We did the one on the beach and we were the only ones on the beach and it was wonderful !! It was well worth it.

Absolutely beautiful property, and well maintained. I had a ladies retreat here over the weekend with 10 ladies, we all had a wonderful time. The views were spectacular, we walked out by the pond in the morning, and enjoyed the spa in the evening. The beds were very comfortable, the fireplace was inviting (wood was provided), the kitchen was fully equipped and had modern appliances (loved the smaller side oven, it worked well for keeping our bread warm), media center had great sound with speakers outside on deck as well, and the big flat screen TV's were awesome for worship DVD's and watching the football game (we invited our husbands' over for this Saturday night). We were even blessed to meet the animals on the ranch. really I can not say enough about this property, the owner is a real sweetheart, I highly recommend it, I know you will enjoy your stay as much as we did!

I am a little late with this review, but better late the never. My wife and I stayed at this truly beautiful home during the latter part of September. This was our 5th trip to Crescent City and without a doubt the best trip. This was primarily due to the fact that we had such a wonderful and comfortable home to return to every day. The listing description does not do the home justice. The view overlooking the lake is awesome. The house is fully stocked with whatever you might need. The house was clean, the beds very comfortable, and the sunsets were truly beautiful. I could go on and on but I would just be repeating what other guests have said. If the owner will have us, we will be back as this is by far the best of the three homes we have rented in Crescent City.

This has been the best vacation spot for my family and I so far. It was so relaxing and just so peaceful. This rental was everything the pictures show. Its an amazing getaway to just relax and enjoy some amazing family time. The owners were super nice and very sweet for baking us cookies. They were very helpful in showing us around the house and letting us know where everything was. We even went fishing and the pond nearby and caught a big trout. This place is amazing and we hope to be back soon.

About the owner: We have lived in the Crescent City area for 30 years, and own All Creatures Animal Hospital & Bird Clinic. We have raised 6 wonderful children here and believe this to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. We lead a very busy life filled with faith, family, work, and community involvement, and understand the need for peace and total relaxation to renew the soul.
Why the Owner Chose Crescent City:
The Lakefront Ranch is a property we have admired in our daily drive from Fort Dick to Crescent City for 30 years. Our daughter-in-law and her mom use to pull into the ranch driveway just to sit and watch the sunsets for many years. The property is a working ranch with a huge barn, improved pastures, and corrals. We raise sheep and a few head of angus cattle. The chickens in the barn provide daily fresh eggs. The pond is reported to harbor prize cutthroat trout and lots of waterfowl and wildlife. When we purchased the property the house was gutted and at the beginning of a complete remodel. We saw tremendous possibilities, and jumped at the chance. The result is astounding, and will be beyond your expectations; comfortable, elegant and totally relaxing.
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
As you turn off Lower Lake Road onto the alder lined 1/4 mile drive, you will breath a sigh of relaxation. If it's dusk, you will race to get the best sunset view. At other times you drive slowly, and talk to the sheep and cows grazing nearby. Entering the home you are greeted with modern, comfortable elegance. The living room has 2 unique focal points. At one end is a see-through fireplace with gorgeous "country rubble" stone work. The other end is a 9' X 4' redwood log chain saw carving of "the Last Supper". The master suite is spacious, with a 52" HD TV, wood and gas fireplace, and huge master bath with jetted tub and 2 headed marble shower with stone floor. The detached studio has it's own bath and kitchenette.
