Dale Hollow Lake - Grand Tennessee Vacation Home - Lake View !
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Your very own Grand Tennessee Lakehouse on Dale Hollow is located on a two-acre lot in the Sherwood Shores neighborhood just outside Byrdstown, Tennessee and very near the mouth of the Obey River. It is as close to the water as private residences are allowed to be on Dale Hollow and will delight you with breathtaking views of the lake. The information provided here is but a fraction of what is available on the home and the Dale Hollow Lake Area. Click the link below taking you to a dedicated site for much more information!
Construction was completed in 1999, and you will immediately relax when you experience the gentle sounds of nature in the surroundings. There is also something about the look and feel of the rustic western red cedar and crab orchard flagstone exterior that encourages one to kick back and unwind, particularly in this little corner of the world!
With your first step inside, you will understand this home was designed to be a permanent residence, not some ordinary rental property. We first greatly admired the home from the water with the large 2-story prow windows facing the lake. After purchasing and furnishing the home, we decided it was just too nice not to share with others.
We have been coming to Dale Hollow for years, and STILL continue to find more activities for adventure each year! Again, you simply must view our dedicated website linked below for a comprehensive rundown of things to do. The site continues to evolve with richness as we expand on new things we learn about and see in the area.
Configuration
There are two choices with regard to space. Guests can decide how much of the home is needed, and choose accordingly. Be certain to click on the link at the bottom of this listing to our dedicated website for more details about upgrades.
Base Option:
The Base Option will accommodate Sleeping arrangements for a comfortable 10-12 consisting of a king size bed in the master suite on the main floor, three upstairs bedrooms; two with king-sized beds; and a third with four twin beds. A full bathroom upstairs serve guests there. The great room on the main floor has a plush La-Z-Boy sectional sleeper sofa making a queen-size bed. Finally, there is a La-Z-Boy loveseat sleeper in the main floor great room. The bathroom off the MBR is quite spacious and has a Jacuzzi tub.
Plus Option:
The Plus Option includes everything in the Base Option, plus access to a fully finished walk-out lower level. Construction on the stone retaining wall and lower level build-out was completed in June, 2007. The lower level produced two more bedrooms, a full bath with incredible walk-in tile, stone & glass block dual head shower, a kitchenette, two gathering spaces, and a full blown office. This added sleeping accommodations for another 4-6, bringing the total to 16.
You will enjoy many small amenities in this fine home, some of which were decisions made at the time of construction, like high quality Maytag appliances throughout including washer/dryer, and Kohler sink and bathroom fixtures. We also decided to go the extra mile with a home theater system in the great room on the main level complete with a 47' 1080 high definition LCD flat television. Yamaha audio components provide full surround sound for movies and DirecTV high definition sattalite service is provided. We have taken great care to create detailed operating instructions for all major components in the home.
We have furnished a permanently mounted marine radio inside the house between the great room and the kitchen. It has delighted us with being able to stay in contact while out on the water. The marine radio is also helpful for getting up to date weather broadcasts from the National Weather Service.
Since we are on the topic of communications, we should mention there is a landline telephone inside the house, although we did have to think twice on this one! Also, wireless broadband is available to guests!
Weekly housekeeping service is included as well as garbage pickup a couple times weekly. Note: The Lakehouse is fine for infants and well-behaved school-age children, but not necessarily for toddlers, who could easily hurt themselves bumping into sharp table edges or climbing up stairs. We simply haven’t done the things necessary to make the place truly “toddler-friendly.” Proceed under that advisement.
The property is managed by Jolene. Contact her at the e-mail link below to confirm availability and for any other information she can help with regarding your plans. We suggest you reserve the home well in advance. Please reference the 'Rice Retreat.'

What a great walkout basement. I've stayed here for years, and the finish done on the lower level this year adds so much to the house. The house was perfect! The lake was perfect! Allways a great summer getaway. Thanks for sharing it with us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The location was excellent. The beds were very comfortable (always a bonus!) and the space on the first level and top floor was very accommodating for us. The kitchen had all the expected appliances and more! I would definitely rent this property again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are delighted you enjoyed your family time and birthday celebration! You're welcome back for a visit anytime. The housekeeper, Jackie, loved y'all!

We spent a 3 day weekend at this lakehouse on Dale Hollow Lake. We had a group of 10 guys celebrating our 20 yr college reunion. The house had a fantastic view of the lake. There was plenty of room for us in the home. We especially enjoyed hanging out on the deck, playing cornhole and watching football on the big screen TV. The grill was great for burgers and steaks. The house was about a 15 min drive from Eagles Cove Marina - we rented a pontoon for half a day and had a great time! The owners were very responsive to my questions and provided many valuable tips and suggestions.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: So glad you Blue Devils enjoyed your time here! You had perfect weekend weather to take it all in, a pontoon outing in November can sometimes be a sketchy adventure. Come back anytime, maybe a couples retreat next?

Sitting here looking at pictures of our fabulous weekend at your place. Everyone oohed and aahed at the accommodations and views. Naturally, I took all the credit for picking out such a great place. We had guests from Maryland, Eastern Tennessee, Columbus and Bloomington, Indiana, San Francisco, San Diego, Pasadena, The Philippines and good old Morgan County. What great memories! We had a professional chef come from Knoxville on Saturday night so we could give our excellent cooks the last evening off. We all participated in a corn hole tournament while he prepared the meal. We went out on the pontoon boat, took hikes, carved pumpkins, and had a sing-a-long. Great times!! Thanks!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: So happy to facilitate the international gathering for you! .... what a fantastic family experience. You did a great job with the event planning! The local area offers so much beauty and activity offerings year round, sounds like you took the time to discover them. Thanks for the great care and respect you showed for the home. Come back anytime!

Our three days at Rice Retreat were wonderful. The “fall” rate was an even better bargain than the “full” season rate…and we virtually had the lake and marina to ourselves. One of the best, among many, features of this resort rental is the fact that if, after reserving the “upper” level your group expands beyond 13, the rental capacity can be “expanded” up to 19 by adding the lower level for an unbelievably reasonable charge. The home is VERY well maintained and as comfortable as anyone’s home. It’s well laid out for a group, with a huge master bed/bath/walk-in closet for the king and queen (in our case, the planner/organizer, Barbara and I). The kitchen can easily accommodate competing cooks, with a large dining area looking over the huge bi-level deck and view of the lake. The living room, with three-story windows facing the fantastic lake view, and opposite an overlooking balcony/loft, is very comfortable, offering a gas fireplace and entertainment system with surround speakers. The water is incredibly soft, making the master bath jacuzzi tub all the more enjoyable. The street is/was very quiet during our stay, with neighboring homes a distance away. The street runs the length of a long ridge directly above the lake, although the steep slope toward the water makes boat launch and swimming necessary at nearby marinas and beaches, which you’d almost certainly want to visit anyway. The owners/hosts use the property as a home away from home part of the year and are VERY helpful and accessible. They also have extensive contacts in the area to deal with about any situation or request guests may have. I particularly appreciate that they do not charge a separate cleaning fee, in return for keeping the place as one’s home and removing/throwing the linens in the washer and trash in outside trash containers before departure. No offense to the hosts, but the pictures do not do justice to the expansive view of the lake from virtually anywhere on this property. The property includes a large parking area with easy/close access to the home. The owners have created a convenient parking area along the street for anyone pulling a trailer that may not want to negotiate the driveway slope. The home’s lower level has a large patio (with much furniture and of course, the view) that offers a large area of flat smooth surface for any activities requiring such. It is accessible whether you rent the lower level option or not. We'll be back! Visit their Web site!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: So glad you enjoyed it all! And no, that was not a paid announcement! Just some very happy guests. Please return again, my housekeeper loved you Hoosiers! (and I promise to stock more tp ;>).

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: We are the Rice family from Indiana. (Go Boilers!) My husband grew up not far from here and still has family in the area. We celebrate with a big family reunion every July, which is what started our annual trek. This home and the beautiful lake and hills that surround it have seen us gather with grandparents, neighbors, cousins, extended family, in-laws of in-laws and a guestbook full of friends. We've celebrated numerous birthdays, anniversaries, Easter, Mother's and Father's Day, lost teeth, potty-training, new babies and too many 4th of Julys to count. We make the run down from Indiana every chance we have and dream about it when we're not there. These are the souvenirs that last forever.
Why the Owner Chose Byrdstown:
We've tried it all since 1994: houseboats, marina cabins (so that's what they mean by 'rustic'?) and camping. Not until we rented a darling little lake view cabin in 2000 did we know what we were missing! Water fun all day, then a warm shower, hot grill, games, movies and a comfy bed all waiting for us off the water. We'd admired the home from both the lake and street on several occasions. It was our 'dream lake home'. We'd called a realtor in hopes of it being available for rent (what a great idea!) only to find out that it had been on the market for over a year. In no way were we in a position to buy a 2nd home with 2 babies, busy careers and no budget allocation. So that's what we did anyway...... took a huge leap of faith. The lake was calling our name and we knew we would regret passing up this amazing opportunity. We stuck it out there and never looked back. Turning it into a business allows us to reap the wonderful benefits while sharing the property with others to enjoy. So we're not in the vacation rental business, we're in the make memories business. It's a little piece of heaven right here in Tennessee. The stars shine brighter, the birds sing louder and the air doesn't get any fresher. God did good, come see for yourself!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Life has a tendency to spin too fast. This home and it's surroundings put it all into perspective and allow you to get right with what matters most. The memories made by grandchildren and their grandparents, the friends that gather, the laughter that you hear from the water...... that's what life is all about. Take in the view, share it with the people you care most about and you'll think to yourself 'life doesn't get any better than this'. That reconnection will follow you home and call you back.
