We were all very please with the house and have decided to stay there again, next year. This was our 8th house and the very best one yet. Improvements could be but not necessary: Master bedroom TV Extra refrigerator in basement High capacity coffee maker

The location was excellent. The beds were very comfortable (always a bonus!) and the space on the first level and top floor was very accommodating for us. The kitchen had all the expected appliances and more! I would definitely rent this property again.

We had a wonderful time staying at this home. There was plenty of room for all of our family and everything we needed was provided. The viewsof the lake from the deck across the back of the home were amazing! We all said we sould like to come back and make this a regular trip.

Fun and Relaxing Weekend!!!

We spent a 3 day weekend at this lakehouse on Dale Hollow Lake. We had a group of 10 guys celebrating our 20 yr college reunion. The house had a fantastic view of the lake. There was plenty of room for us in the home. We especially enjoyed hanging out on the deck, playing cornhole and watching football on the big screen TV. The grill was great for burgers and steaks. The house was about a 15 min drive from Eagles Cove Marina - we rented a pontoon for half a day and had a great time! The owners were very responsive to my questions and provided many valuable tips and suggestions.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Sitting here looking at pictures of our fabulous weekend at your place. Everyone oohed and aahed at the accommodations and views. Naturally, I took all the credit for picking out such a great place. We had guests from Maryland, Eastern Tennessee, Columbus and Bloomington, Indiana, San Francisco, San Diego, Pasadena, The Philippines and good old Morgan County. What great memories! We had a professional chef come from Knoxville on Saturday night so we could give our excellent cooks the last evening off. We all participated in a corn hole tournament while he prepared the meal. We went out on the pontoon boat, took hikes, carved pumpkins, and had a sing-a-long. Great times!! Thanks!

Our three days at Rice Retreat were wonderful. The “fall” rate was an even better bargain than the “full” season rate…and we virtually had the lake and marina to ourselves. One of the best, among many, features of this resort rental is the fact that if, after reserving the “upper” level your group expands beyond 13, the rental capacity can be “expanded” up to 19 by adding the lower level for an unbelievably reasonable charge. The home is VERY well maintained and as comfortable as anyone’s home. It’s well laid out for a group, with a huge master bed/bath/walk-in closet for the king and queen (in our case, the planner/organizer, Barbara and I). The kitchen can easily accommodate competing cooks, with a large dining area looking over the huge bi-level deck and view of the lake. The living room, with three-story windows facing the fantastic lake view, and opposite an overlooking balcony/loft, is very comfortable, offering a gas fireplace and entertainment system with surround speakers. The water is incredibly soft, making the master bath jacuzzi tub all the more enjoyable. The street is/was very quiet during our stay, with neighboring homes a distance away. The street runs the length of a long ridge directly above the lake, although the steep slope toward the water makes boat launch and swimming necessary at nearby marinas and beaches, which you’d almost certainly want to visit anyway. The owners/hosts use the property as a home away from home part of the year and are VERY helpful and accessible. They also have extensive contacts in the area to deal with about any situation or request guests may have. I particularly appreciate that they do not charge a separate cleaning fee, in return for keeping the place as one’s home and removing/throwing the linens in the washer and trash in outside trash containers before departure. No offense to the hosts, but the pictures do not do justice to the expansive view of the lake from virtually anywhere on this property. The property includes a large parking area with easy/close access to the home. The owners have created a convenient parking area along the street for anyone pulling a trailer that may not want to negotiate the driveway slope. The home’s lower level has a large patio (with much furniture and of course, the view) that offers a large area of flat smooth surface for any activities requiring such. It is accessible whether you rent the lower level option or not. We'll be back! Visit their Web site!

Everything was as the pictures show, except the view....which is even better in person!!!!! Everything from booking, the stay, the amenities, the weather, the lake, Sunset Marina, everything was great!! Our family vacation was relaxing and this home was everything we had hoped. The grill they have is really great! Everything was so easy to cook perfectly. Every morning and at dusk, we enjoyed the amazing view of the lake. We will be back for sure!

Lake Trip

We had a wonderful stay at the Rice Lake House. We are empty nesters and it was great bringing our grown sons and spouses on the trip. We stayed for a week. Dale Hollow Lake is just gorgeous. The pretty blue water was so clear and the lake was wonderful with our boat where we wake boarded, skiied, etc. The house was wonderful as we watched movies, played games, and cooked our favorite meals. When we felt like it ,we hopped on our boat that we kept at Sunrise Marina. It was only like a 5 minute drive to hop into our boat to go do all the water sports we enjoy so much. We were very pleased with our stay!

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

The property was well maintained and clean and the owner was very helpful with all of the questions we sent her way. The grill made some of the best chicken we have ever had! I would definitely recommend this property to others.

We just had a wonderful Christmas at this beautiful lake house with 8 adults and 8 children ages 6 to 21! It was a great family time and we all had so much fun. Plenty of room for all, room to play for kids, it was perfect.

What a view!

We rented the upstairs, 4BR unit for along weekend, with 4 adults and 5 children.... and still had three beds and a pull out couch to spare. We were very comfortable and found everything we needed. Beds are comfortable, especially the TempurPedic in the MBR.. Master Bath is HUGE, as is the laundry room (and the storage it provides right off the kitchen) There is plenty of room for parking. The driveway is gravel, so the boat on trailer was left in the provided pull-out right above the house on the road, but just steps across up a hill from the front door. The multi-level back deck and view of the lake is clearly the highlight of this property. It's perfect for enjoying morning coffee and watching boats returning to Sunset Marina at the end of the day. The kitchen is well equipped with modern refrigerator and appliances (including dishwasher), and two sinks add convenience. The home theater setup is very nice, once you spend a few moments of orientation to learn how to use the universal remote. As a couple of important notes: 1) The house is about 10 minute drive from Sunset Marina. Not far, but far enough that it's a bit tiring if you have to run back and forth. I will say that this marina is very nice, with huge store, restaurant, multiple ramps, and slips for rent (beware; they sell out on holiday weekends!). 2) The bedroom with 4 twin beds is accessed through one of the other bedrooms which has a king and twin bed, so it should be noted that privacy in those two bedrooms may be limited. 3) The house was clean, but note that decor is getting a little dated. We enjoyed our stay and the tenant relationship with the owner. This is a comfortable house which can accommodate a lot of people inside and out.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Rice Retreats. The house is spacious and luxurious. It is furnished with everything we needed. There is a really nice large TV. The deck and view of the lake was gorgeous. We loved sitting there and soaking up the morning sun and reading the newpaper. We also really enjoyed the quiet, peaceful evenings when we sat outside and watched the stars come out. The kids had a ball playing in the large yard. The large jacuzzi tub was so relaxing. This is a really great place and we will stay there again whenever we go to Byrdstown.

We held our family reunion at the Rice Retreat in 2008 and 2009. We had 18 people and used both parts of the Retreat. We had an outstanding time each year. The house is very comfortable. We loved the modern kitchen and the entertainment center in the living room. The upper and lower decks were great places to enjoy the wonderful view. We had a great time and highly recommend the Rice Retreat.

my family has been going for 20 years i have only been going for 4 but it is awsome you can see everything in the lake if you have goggles one time i saw a fish one time. you can feed the fish when you go to the store go fishing at the docks i have even come up with Miss Dale Hollow im very hppy tobe Miss Dale Hollow but you will love it here last year left my clay at cumberland you can get it t the beach waich or flys hope you like it there and hope i see you from Shania Harrison or Mis Dale Hollow p.s my grandp has the best and fastes bot in the lake!!!!!!!!!!!! yay

This is our third year coming to the Dale Hollow area. We found this house by chance the first year, and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. The view is spectacular and the home is wonderful and inviting. We have made this our yearly vacation rental as nothing else could ever compare. Our first trip to the Dale Hollow Lake area & our 25th anniversary. Twelve of us enjoyed your beautiful home, & all felt quite spoiled. I think we lucked out & found the best place to stay on our first trip to Dale Hollow, there at your home. After looking around the DHL area, there was very little that would outshine your place. The view from the deck was exceptional! The furnishings were lovely, the home was spacious, and well kept. Sunset Marina was a treat to visit. Even your neighbor across the road, & the cleaning person were friendly & good to meet. We hope to come back again soon!

Three Couples really enjoyed the solitude of the area and the lovely home. The setting and the view is marvelous. We explored the area a little, but mostly enjoyed the quiet. The weather did not cooperate for us to get a pontoon boat, but that's ok. We enjoyed the grill and had steaks one evening (I have one like it at home). Also enjoyed the fireplace. Wonderful house – very clean + spacious. 3 families stayed from church; had a great time. The only thing we would suggest is more TV’s (for kids) and a basketball goal. If you ever finish the basement, a rec room would be very nice. (Pool table, games, etc.) Love the view! Plan on returning. (Left you a mixer). Thanks,

Comment Text: Thanks so much for allowing us to share in your gorgeous Dale Hollow home!! Mike and I have been coming to Dale Hollow Lake for "over" 25 years. With kids that love watersports for over 20. There is no place else that can match up to the beauty and serenity of it. The Rice Retreat was absolutely everything it was said to be and more. It is beautiful and simply feels like home. Nothing better than sitting on the deck at the end of the day, with a cup of coffee, and looking out over the lake. Five stars!!! We loved our week at Rice's Retreat. While the view was beatiful, the peace was worth the nine hour drive. We used to go to Cumberland, but when we first visited Dale Hollow two years ago, we couldn't believe how much cleaner the water was. A wonderful lake. If I could make one suggestion, I would like to see an umbrella added to the table on the deck. We had some very hot days, and we were unable to use the deck until the sun set.

Thank you for loaning us your Lake House. We had an awesome time. We come down to Dale Hollow for smooth and warm water, and we got plenty of both. My 10 year old daughter came down here as a very tentative skier, and by the end of the week she was skiing like a pro! Great fun. The house is darn near perfect. In fact, it felt much more like a home, and not a rental house, which is about the highest compliment I can pay. My wife and daughter both fell in love with the rocker in the family room, and I suspect one of those will be showing up at our house soon. Your rental booklet is amazingly complete. We've been coming down here for many, many years, and we still learned a lot about the area that we didn't previously know. Nice touch, and much appreciated. I couldn't agree more with your comments about Tom and Angela at Sunset Marina. They are one of the biggest reasons we drive to this end of the lake. Thanks again for helping to make this a very fun and relaxing vacation!

We stayed at the Rice Retreat at the end of our Memphis/Nashville vacation. This place was gorgeous and the neighbors were friendly and helpful. We went horseback riding at Pack Trips, just over the Kentucky border, and we spent one day down at the Marina on the paddleboats and at the beach. My most memorable part of this stay was noticing that I've never seen so many butterflies, lightning bugs, and stars. The night skies were just breathtaking. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Very nice home! Very inviting; very clean and decorated very awesome! Had a wonderful time! We want our whole family to return so they can enjoy this as well! I don’t want to go home because this is soooo relaxing, but I do want to go home because I miss my girls! If we had forgotten anything, you would have had it here! That was nice, thank you!

Very much enjoyed our visit. There were five of us staying and more than ample room. Beautiful home with a beautiful view. Also, the reference booklet written by Mr. Rice was very well done and very helpful.
