We just had a wonderful Christmas at this beautiful lake house with 8 adults and 8 children ages 6 to 21! It was a great family time and we all had so much fun. Plenty of room for all, room to play for kids, it was perfect.

We rented the upstairs, 4BR unit for along weekend, with 4 adults and 5 children.... and still had three beds and a pull out couch to spare. We were very comfortable and found everything we needed. Beds are comfortable, especially the TempurPedic in the MBR.. Master Bath is HUGE, as is the laundry room (and the storage it provides right off the kitchen) There is plenty of room for parking. The driveway is gravel, so the boat on trailer was left in the provided pull-out right above the house on the road, but just steps across up a hill from the front door. The multi-level back deck and view of the lake is clearly the highlight of this property. It's perfect for enjoying morning coffee and watching boats returning to Sunset Marina at the end of the day. The kitchen is well equipped with modern refrigerator and appliances (including dishwasher), and two sinks add convenience. The home theater setup is very nice, once you spend a few moments of orientation to learn how to use the universal remote. As a couple of important notes: 1) The house is about 10 minute drive from Sunset Marina. Not far, but far enough that it's a bit tiring if you have to run back and forth. I will say that this marina is very nice, with huge store, restaurant, multiple ramps, and slips for rent (beware; they sell out on holiday weekends!). 2) The bedroom with 4 twin beds is accessed through one of the other bedrooms which has a king and twin bed, so it should be noted that privacy in those two bedrooms may be limited. 3) The house was clean, but note that decor is getting a little dated. We enjoyed our stay and the tenant relationship with the owner. This is a comfortable house which can accommodate a lot of people inside and out.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Rice Retreats. The house is spacious and luxurious. It is furnished with everything we needed. There is a really nice large TV. The deck and view of the lake was gorgeous. We loved sitting there and soaking up the morning sun and reading the newpaper. We also really enjoyed the quiet, peaceful evenings when we sat outside and watched the stars come out. The kids had a ball playing in the large yard. The large jacuzzi tub was so relaxing. This is a really great place and we will stay there again whenever we go to Byrdstown.

Our family stayed at your lake house last Christmas and enjoyed it thoroughly. When I asked our adult children where they wanted to go this year, they all requested to return to the Rice Retreat. The accommodations more than met our needs for a large family gathering.

We held our family reunion at the Rice Retreat in 2008 and 2009. We had 18 people and used both parts of the Retreat. We had an outstanding time each year. The house is very comfortable. We loved the modern kitchen and the entertainment center in the living room. The upper and lower decks were great places to enjoy the wonderful view. We had a great time and highly recommend the Rice Retreat.

my family has been going for 20 years i have only been going for 4 but it is awsome you can see everything in the lake if you have goggles one time i saw a fish one time. you can feed the fish when you go to the store go fishing at the docks i have even come up with Miss Dale Hollow im very hppy tobe Miss Dale Hollow but you will love it here last year left my clay at cumberland you can get it t the beach waich or flys hope you like it there and hope i see you from Shania Harrison or Mis Dale Hollow p.s my grandp has the best and fastes bot in the lake!!!!!!!!!!!! yay

This is our third year coming to the Dale Hollow area. We found this house by chance the first year, and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. The view is spectacular and the home is wonderful and inviting. We have made this our yearly vacation rental as nothing else could ever compare. Many kudos to the Rice family for allowing us to enjoy their home!

Our first trip to the Dale Hollow Lake area & our 25th anniversary. Twelve of us enjoyed your beautiful home, & all felt quite spoiled. I think we lucked out & found the best place to stay on our first trip to Dale Hollow, there at your home. After looking around the DHL area, there was very little that would outshine your place. The view from the deck was exceptional! The furnishings were lovely, the home was spacious, and well kept. Sunset Marina was a treat to visit. Even your neighbor across the road, & the cleaning person were friendly & good to meet. We hope to come back again soon!

Three Couples really enjoyed the solitude of the area and the lovely home. The setting and the view is marvelous. We explored the area a little, but mostly enjoyed the quiet. The weather did not cooperate for us to get a pontoon boat, but that's ok. We enjoyed the grill and had steaks one evening (I have one like it at home). Also enjoyed the fireplace. Wonderful house – very clean + spacious. 3 families stayed from church; had a great time. The only thing we would suggest is more TV’s (for kids) and a basketball goal. If you ever finish the basement, a rec room would be very nice. (Pool table, games, etc.) Love the view! Plan on returning. (Left you a mixer). Thanks,

Comment Text: Thanks so much for allowing us to share in your gorgeous Dale Hollow home!! Mike and I have been coming to Dale Hollow Lake for "over" 25 years. With kids that love watersports for over 20. There is no place else that can match up to the beauty and serenity of it. The Rice Retreat was absolutely everything it was said to be and more. It is beautiful and simply feels like home. Nothing better than sitting on the deck at the end of the day, with a cup of coffee, and looking out over the lake. Five stars!!! We loved our week at Rice's Retreat. While the view was beatiful, the peace was worth the nine hour drive. We used to go to Cumberland, but when we first visited Dale Hollow two years ago, we couldn't believe how much cleaner the water was. A wonderful lake. If I could make one suggestion, I would like to see an umbrella added to the table on the deck. We had some very hot days, and we were unable to use the deck until the sun set.

Thank you for loaning us your Lake House. We had an awesome time. We come down to Dale Hollow for smooth and warm water, and we got plenty of both. My 10 year old daughter came down here as a very tentative skier, and by the end of the week she was skiing like a pro! Great fun. The house is darn near perfect. In fact, it felt much more like a home, and not a rental house, which is about the highest compliment I can pay. My wife and daughter both fell in love with the rocker in the family room, and I suspect one of those will be showing up at our house soon. Your rental booklet is amazingly complete. We've been coming down here for many, many years, and we still learned a lot about the area that we didn't previously know. Nice touch, and much appreciated. I couldn't agree more with your comments about Tom and Angela at Sunset Marina. They are one of the biggest reasons we drive to this end of the lake. Thanks again for helping to make this a very fun and relaxing vacation!

We stayed at the Rice Retreat at the end of our Memphis/Nashville vacation. This place was gorgeous and the neighbors were friendly and helpful. We went horseback riding at Pack Trips, just over the Kentucky border, and we spent one day down at the Marina on the paddleboats and at the beach. My most memorable part of this stay was noticing that I've never seen so many butterflies, lightning bugs, and stars. The night skies were just breathtaking. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
