My wife and I (9months pregnant) spent four days here to do some ice fishing and relaxing. The cabin is more like a house. We felt very comfortable and had more then enough ammenities, this is hardly roughing it. The owners were great to work with, and everyone in the cove was friendly and quiet. I just wish the fishing was as rewarding. Fished three days without a flag! We can't wait to come back with our daughter this summer. A++Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

The cabin is perfect for a short or extended stay. I've rented it many times in the past and it is always clean and in good working order. The owner is always available for anything you might need, but usually there is nothing to need, the camp is fully stocked with all amenities and is a very enjoyable place to stay.Did you find this review helpful? I was completely taken by surprise with how beautiful Embden Pond was when we arrived. I have been to Maine many times before and am in love with the state, but Embden was gorgeous and the cabin was fantastic. The inside is so comfy and cozy, very easy to relax with a nice deck to eat out or just be outside on. There is a public beach near the public boat launch and the water is so clean, very safe for children and my dog had a blast! I will certainly be considering renting from the owner again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

I rented this place last week from monday-friday the owner was very accomodating and helpful. If you want a quiet relaxing good time, this is a great lake to stay on. This cabin is not directly on the water, its set back a little, but its an excellent cabin! I had 3 young children with me, it was perfect for a family with young ones. The Lake is amazing so crystal clear. It is a hidden gem, not a ton of motorized boats on the lake, no hustle and bustle, it you want that go somewhere else. The only down fall is that i didn't bring a kayak or boat with me, there is no commerce in the town of emden, no boat rentals. overall I loved it and my kids did too , they were crying saying they wanted to stay. Thanks Carlton for letting us rent your beautiful cabinRecommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We rented this cottage for a week in June 2011. We were a group of 8 ranging in age from 15-79--all devoted fly fishmen. The cottage was clean and comfortable and provided a place for each sleeping body (4 bunks and two double beds), a place for each person to sit while eating and a place to sit while lying about the days fishing. The kitchen is well furnished and the gas stove provided for efficient meal preparation. Overall, we were quite satisfied. The only less than positive feature was our expectation for a lakeside location (as described). In fact the cottage is about 75 yards removed from the lake shore and a number of other housing units are in the area between the rental cottage and the lake. We carried our canoes to the lake when we went on the water and returned them to the cottage when we were done boating. Not a big problem for us but don't expect to be immediately lakeside. We found the owners to be very accomodating and helpful.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: We are glad to get feedback on how to improve. Based on feedback we have put in a flat screen high def tv and a new upconvert dvd player this past week. Keep the feedback coming.

Beautiful home set way out in the beautiful mountain woods of Maine. The owner was great to work with, even with our short notice. The only thing I frowned upon was the distance between everything and lack of night life attractions! This beautiful property would be best suited for an older couple looking for a great peaceful vaca!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.
