Hood River house description
What is spectacular and uncommon about this home is the breadth of the Gorge view and the fullness of the Mt. Adams view compared to most other 2 bdrm units in town, with a rare garage for storing your outdoor gear. It is located inside Hood River town close to Jackson Park and the Swim Center. From the living room, master bedroom and balcony there is a 140 degree view of the other side of the Gorge, with a full view of Mt. Adams that you don’t get at many places. While you’re sipping your morning coffee on the balcony, you can also see the river in front of the Event-Site to check out wind and wave conditions before you go sailing or kite-boarding.
This unit is the 1,350 sq. ft. upper floor of this daylight-ranch home. The house is sited on the edge of a small bluff so the neighboring houses and trees are below your view sight lines which also provides nice privacy.
Check out our other unit, AdamsView-2 (VRBO #303459) if the calendar for this unit doesn't have your dates open.
Just a 4 minute walk is the large aquatic center pool, tennis courts, softball field, soccer field, a Thursday farmer’s market and Jackson Park’s amphitheater with free summer weekend concerts and movies. The only grocery store close to downtown is a 90 second drive down the hill. The start of downtown is about a dozen blocks to the east - a 15 minute walk or a 3-minute drive or a short bike, to Hood River’s fine pubs, shopping, galleries, fine cuisine, sushi, pizza, ice cream, theaters, wine-tasting, bike shops, wind-sport shops and coffee/internet cafes. The house is also close to the Heights neighborhood with more options for restaurants, shops, the other grocery store, and fruit stands. Of course, there are numerous options to enjoy Hood River’s world-famous windsurfing and kite-boarding sites (Event-Site, Hook, The Marina, and Spit are a 6-8 minute drive).
Go west to visit several close-by best-of-the-region wineries, within 8 minutes by bike (Cathedral Ridge (great Pinots); Marchesi (sumptuous Italian wines); and Mt Hood (fruit/dessert wines). Also a short bike ride to the west is the Post Canyon trails complex (2 mi. to single-track) which has some of the best mountain bike single-track and free-riding trails on the west coast (70+ miles of trails). Closer to Mt. Hood and across the river are many dozens of hiking and mt bike trails. A Gorge hiking guide is supplied.
From the entry, the kitchen is immediately to the right, with dining area adjoining. 2010 all stainless steel appliances (convection double-oven, built-in smooth-top 4-burner cooktop, built-in microwave, new tile counter, black-granite sink, large bottom-freezer refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster, coffee-maker. Lots of counter space and stocked with basic condiments, pots & pans, dishes, glasses, etc. From the dining table, there is even a partial view of the steep, rugged north face of Mt. Hood, which completes the fairly rare “Hood River 2-mountain view”.
Further past the entry, to your right is the large living room with a comfortable, large, sectional sofa, with a great view of the Gorge and Mt. Adams. A sliding glass door opens onto the 32 x 8 ft. cedar balcony with a solid railing for privacy and safety. The balcony has a dining table for 6, plus comfy lounge chairs/ottomans, and a Weber gas grill BBQ with side-burner. The large north-facing balcony has welcome shade on hot summer days and is sheltered from much of the famous Gorge winds.
From the entry, turn left to the bathroom with double-sinks and large, remodeled shower. Also to the left of the entry is the master bedroom (12 x 16 ft) which has the same special view of the gorge/Mt. Adams… what an inspiring sight to wake up to! The second bedroom is slightly smaller, (without gorge view). Bedrooms have new, ultra-comfortable foam-mattress/pillow-top King beds with quality linens, a large double-closet, plus a chest of drawers for the master. The optional 3rd bed is a super comfortable, premium queen-size AeroBed with built-in pump that inflates in 3 minutes to a 22” height. It’s much more comfortable than most sleeper-sofas.
The 2-car garage has one bay available for storing your vehicle and/or drying/storing your gear (The other bay is for AdamsView-2), plus your own dedicated clothes washer/dryer. The many trees in the front yard offer generous shade for driveway parking. Fits 2 cars in your half of the circle driveway + 1 in garage, plus ample on-street parking.
The home has a 2010, premium, central heating/cooling system with electronic air cleaner, and a completely separate thermostat and ducting just for your unit. Plus electrical and plumbing upgrades.
After a day of outdoor activities, relax, take in the view and barbeque on the balcony or go downtown for an enjoyable evening.
Mt. Hood Meadows, the largest ski resort, is about 40 minutes south. The classic Timberline Lodge offers year-round skiing Trails for hiking, XC skiing or snow-shoeing are within 5-30 minutes drive. There are numerous spectacular, scenic routes for road biking right from the house. Exciting, Class 3-4 white-water rafting and kayaking is available on the White Salmon, Klickitat rivers, and Deschutes rivers.
Be aware that many of the other 2-bedroom places for vacation rental in Hood River have no view or narrow/limited views, may have a tiny deck, lots of I-84/downtown traffic noise and limited or no off-street parking, and most have no garage, some have no or limited room-A/C.
If you’d like to rent the entire 4 Bedroom/2-bath home (2,650 sq ft), also check the description and calendar for “AdamsView-2” #303459 for availability and call us to pre-arrange an option for stairway access between the units.

Location & View
Mt.Adams view is as full a view as one gets in town. Just a bit west or east or lower elevation and start kissing the mt. view goodbye. By contrast a ridge blocks many inside-downtown properties from a sliver to NO view of Adams. Watching the sunset alpen-glow pink on Adams, with a glass of wine on the balcony is just - perfect. Just returned from 4 days at the upper level Adamsview. The house is gorgeous and extremely well equipped with everything from cook ware to paper products. The furnishings are top notch, accurately reflected in the photos. 3 of 4 days we had stunning views of Mt. Adams out the back and Mt. Hood in the front. I wholeheartedly recommend the house. It was a little cool to enjoy the deck but it is wonderfully furnished as well.

Look forward to staying again in the future
Had a great time in Hood River last weekend. Thanks so much for making your place available to us at the last minute. Got a nice bike ride in out in the valley starting in Parkdale and enjoyed some good food/beer while in the area. Hope your Italy trip finishes up well. Look forward to staying again in the future.

hope to return for a longer stay in the future.
Thank you for an all too brief but lovely visit. It's very comfortable and well equipped, quiet and welcoming. We were fortunate to have a sunny afternoon and clear evening during a lull in spring rains. The view from the (very well furnished) deck was gorgeous even though the mountain chose to hide. It must be truly spectacular on a crystal clear day with Adams shining white. In the rain, the living room was cozy. I will happily recommend Adams View-1 to friends and family, and (You may use any or all of the above in your reviews if you wish.)

A wonderful home, centrally located in Hood River proper. Great access to the downtown area, bike trails, the valley, and great views from the deck. The home is well appointed, and the owners were very accomodating and helpful with all of our requests. I look forward to another stay.

We have rented allot of VRBO houses and yours stood out as one of our favorites! The house was very comfortable, especially with a good quality bed, and the kitchen/bath well stocked. You also had the best technology we've seen in any house which was very appreciated (yeah for netflix streaming).

best organized, documented, and provisioned
Hi Leigh, I'm in! This is a great place and the best organized, documented, and provisioned of any [vacation] rental I've used to date! Thanks for all the work you've put in. I've read thru the instructions and everything is very clear. I may try your secret hike tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

comfortable, clean, gorgeous view and had everythi
Just wanted you to know how much we enjoyed your home. It was comfortable, clean, gorgeous view and had everything we needed. You did a wonderful job labeling so that we knew what went where and what we needed to do when we left. Thank you so much, too, for the early check-in (we didn't actually arrive until about five) and the late check-out. We were able to have a leisurely departure which makes things so much more enjoyable and was even more helpful with the time change. Thank you! We walked your secret trail yesterday. Though the views were not as good as a clear day, they were still spectacular. Thank you for sharing that! Again, thank you for sharing your lovely home.

Great view, lovely house
Great view, lovely house
This is the fourth house we have rented using VRBO - like the others it was top quality. The view was fabulous - the property may be in town but when you sit on the deck (on the top floor) it's as if you are up in the mountains. The house was well equipped, spotless, comfortable and attractive. Even the garden was nice. This was our first visit to Oregon and we found this place an excellent base from which to visit Columbia Gorge, Hood Valley and Mount Hood, and convenient for restaurants in Hood River. We loved it.

NOTE: 2-3 nt stays are OK to fill a gap even in high season.
During the high-season - windsurfers, kite-boarders, mt-bikers and wedding travelers fill up Hood River lodging of all types. So it's wise to plan ahead by 4-6 mo's, esp if you want more than a few nights mid-week. It is a small town for being an international travel destination. Full week and multi-week blocks of time get scarce.

About the owner: We bike, hike and backpack and love the outdoors and Gorge/mountain views. He is in high-tech marketing and she does nursing with moms and babies.
Why the Owner Chose Hood River:
We went to a friend's wedding in Hood River, decided to look around at houses to kill some time. Within 2 minutes of walking out onto the balcony and seeing the 'gorge-ous' panorama in front of us, we knew we had to make an offer.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love the close-by biking, wineries and downtown restaurants, and relaxing on the balcony sipping wine or a cold microbrew while watching the evening alpenglow turn to pink colors on Mt Adams and the high meadows across the river. We mountain bike to Post Canyon trails right from the house.
