The Charlotte Street Cottage makes for the perfect vacation rental accommodations for your visit to South Carolina.

Secluded and romantic, Charlotte Street Cottage, is the original kitchen house built in 1820. The Cottage is a beautifully restored, two bedroom guesthouse offering the perfect combination of privacy, quiet luxury, and easy access to our beautiful historic city. Rise with the sun and go for a jog along the battery or relax on your sunny patio with a hot cup of coffee and fresh fruit and enjoy the flowers in the gardens. Hop on your bike and be instantly surrounded by the history and charm of the antebellum neighborhood.

Charlotte Street home is a historic home built in 1820 and known as the Wegman-Holmes house. It is set back from the street behind a brick and ironwork fence on an acre of private gardens. Charlotte Street Cottage is rented as one unit and can accommodate up to four people. The property is beautifully landscaped with natural areas, stone patios, young fruit trees, flower beds, 200 year old oaks, and a large lawn. There is secure complimentary parking behind an electric gate. The house is in an ideal location on a beautiful wide street lined with 150 year old oak trees in the heart of the historic district.

Upstairs are two bedrooms, one with a new top of the line queen bed, the other with new twin beds. There is a full bath, generous closet space, and a washer and dryer. Both bedrooms look out over the gardens. Downstairs features include a kitchen with the original fireplace, breakfast nook, living room, and half bath. The kitchen is fully-equipped with stove and oven, full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, and all the cookware and utensils you could want. The dining/living area is stylish yet comfortably furnished. There is premium cable HDTV, high speed wireless internet, and two zone central heat and air for year round comfort. Fax service is available. Next to the cottage, out the kitchen entrance, is your own private garden and patio, fringed by flowerbeds and with comfortable patio furniture.

From your home on Charlotte Street you can easily walk or ride the trolley to all that Charleston's historic district has to offer. This includes the visitor's center, the old market, the new library and aquarium, the Aiken-Rhett house, the harbor and all Charleston museums. Within a few blocks there are many excellent restaurants, shops, galleries, and of course, fine historic homes of which many are open to the public for the numerous house and garden tours.

Within a five to 15 minute drive are hiking, kayaking, white sandy ocean beaches, horseback riding, and yacht harbors. The area is renowned for its many fine golf courses. In the event of any special health needs, there are three modern medical centers within several blocks. Downtown Charleston is 15 minutes from Charleston International Airport. A private taxi to our door costs approximately $25, or airport shuttles will also give door-to-door service for $13 per person. We are a five hour drive from Atlanta, two hours from Savannah, three and a half from Charlotte, and one hour from Beaufort, South Carolina.

We are one of the Historic Districts most beautiful streets.Yet the house you are renting is a peaceful oasis on 1/2 acre of gardens and not visible from the street, with safe, private, COMPLIMENTARY PARKING.

Two locks to Meeting St. (the Visitor's Center) three blocks to King Street (shopping restaurants, etc.) You can walk to everything downtown.

Also close bye... Horse-drawn Carriage Tours, House Tours, Harbor boat tours, kayaking, wildlife center.

About the owner: We are two medical professionals. We moved to Charleston form California in he late 90's to experience the culture in another part of the country....and a slower pace.

Why the Owner Chose Charleston:
We fell in love with our home because of the architectural detail and history. Both the kitchen house (now Charlotte Street Cottage) and the main house (where we live) were built in 1820-21. The property also has beautiful grounds (1/2 acre of gardens), is on one of the most beautiful tree lined streets in the historic districts with year round residents. We are just outside of the main touristy area...but within a few blocks walk to everything.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
We tend to get guests who don't want 'just a place to sleep' but are looking for somewhere where they can enjoy each others company in a beautiful setting.
