Beautiful, Spacious Beach House with Water Views

  Our family used to live in Madison and we wanted to return for Christmas to visit relatives and friends. This 5 bedroom house was wonderfull. The location ws excellent with a great beach across the street. All the rooms were tastefully decorated and we felt like we were home from the moment we arrived. There is a large table in the kitchen for everyone to sit and have breakfast. There is a huge table in the front living room with ocean view. We had 10 people at this table for Christmas eve dinner. Fried seafood from Lenny and Joe's and a couple of 6 lb lobsters from the Lobster pound in Clinton. the owner, Andrew was very easy to deal with and the whole transaction went off without a hitch. We would definately recommend this house for any family gathering. We would love to come back to this house in the summer to really take advantrage of the beach. Thanks Andrew - we had a wonderful Christmas Holiday in CT and truely enjoyed the house.

  We've been vacationing in Madison for a number of years and were extremely lucky to find this house and owner. My kids had a wonderful time being so close to the beach and with all the fun sidetrips along the coast. We easily slept 6 adults and 3 kids--the house was spacious and in a great neighborhood with beautiful views. On top of that, all the neighbors were friendly and made us feel welcome. A perfect house for our trip and we look forward to coming back.

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

  Spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped, in the perfect location to enjoy the beach and easy access to town. Beautifully maintained with very comfortable furniture and relaxing places to sit and talk, read in the quiet, and share family meals, either indoors or on the screened in porch. Lovely breezes all day, and cooling air at night for peaceful sleeping. The house is equipped as described, and is a wonderful setting for adult couples or families with children. The rental rate is good value, and the owner pays careful attention to details, and is very easy to work with. You will truly enjoy your time in this house.

  This is a wonderful beach house, with lots of room for the whole family. We opted to stay here for Yale graduation weekend, a short 25 min drive from campus, and it worked out great to be able to congregate together instead of staying in a motel. The house is spacious, with five bedrooms, a great front porch and open living areas downstairs. The owners were extremely helpful in responding to questions about our preparations, and gave us great advice about the area. We highly recommend this house for any type of stay.

  This was an outstanding vacation home! The house is lovely, spacious, cheery—and spotless! It’s so well laid out that it feels cozy, yet there was plenty of room for everyone to have space and privacy…extra seating areas, cozy reading nooks, etc. There’s an upstairs balcony, a wonderful screened-in porch on the ground floor with comfortable furniture, the sounds of nature, and a view of Long Island Sound, which is only a short walk away. The beach is quiet and inviting. Fishing from the rocks provided additional entertainment (and fish). This house is obviously not just a vacation rental. It’s a second residence for the owners that reflects obvious pride of ownership. The warm, welcoming colors and natural light from the many windows give the home a bright and cheerful feeling and there are nice views from almost every room in the house. The furniture is clean and comfortable and everything is well maintained. The owner personally went through the house with us and spent considerable time giving us suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. We followed pretty much all of his suggestions and were really glad we did. The house was very well located for our purposes. First, the immediate area was quiet and picturesque and we enjoyed just hanging around the house, being together as a family. Next, it was convenient for seeing the many picturesque towns and historical sites nearby. Its location near the rail line allowed for a day trip into NYC, an easy visit to a friend at Yale, and a quick return to the Boston airport. We felt the rental cost was very reasonable considering the size, condition, and location of the home. The security deposit was high but our deposit was returned promptly. Over the years, we’ve rented a number of vacation houses, apartments, and condos and this was definitely one of the nicest—and cleanest—we’ve stayed in. We highly recommend 79 Harford Avenue in Madison.
