Lake home is all that's promised
Lake home is all that's promised
My husband & I spent 2 weeks at this lake home in Aug. 2012 & were delighted that it was all the owners had promised. I wanted a place our 4-yr-old twin grandsons could visit, & this home beat out all others on Lake Hopatcong ("lake of many coves"). It has a separate toddler play area on the large deck which also had safety gates, there was a toddler table & 2 chairs inside for eating or drawing, plenty of kid games, & a sleeping alcove off the LR with bunk beds plus a single bed, perfect for 2 kids & a nanny. There were also life jackets for kids & adults of all sizes, plus "noodles" & numerous floatation toys/devices, plus a nearby raft to swim to & bask on. Beyond kids' needs, the home had games & entertainment for adults, the beds were very comfy, the kitchen well equipped for all types of meals, plus an outdoor grill for barbecuing. At full capacity when my daughter's family was visiting, the house very comfortably accommodated 6 adults & 2 kids. My husband, a retired home inspector, pointed out the 1/4-inch tempered glass vertical panels (instead of a wood railing) around the deck. These allowed unfettered views of the gorgeous lake as we sat on the deck, while also providing safety for children & adults. Neighbors were friendly, one owner telling us "This area is the best part of the lake to stay at!" We believe it, as the water was wonderful to swim in & the cove gave a sense of intimacy while allowing us to view, for instance, a sailboat regatta on the larger lake. Our only problem was constantly getting lost whenever we left the house to go anywhere. The narrow, winding 2-lane roads around the lake were never identified. We started joking that the natives were trying to thwart an enemy invasion by removing all road signs! Even the two great driver/navigators among us got lost again & again. This prompted many direction-finding talks with locals, many of whom had grown up in the area. Doubtless cuz none ever found a road OUT. So we urge all who want to book this great home to come equipped with a GPS (neither of our rental cars had one), or you'll end up like Charlie on the MTA. Mapquest cannot adequately help you.

Owner response: Thank you Harriet for such a lovely review! You truly captured much of what we LOVE about our home and our location :-) We visited MANY different parts of the Lake when we were looking to purchase, and this out-of-the way, private location and the great deep water was KEY! When we were having the deck built, we wanted to make the most of the view, for when we are lounging on the sofas inside, and when on the deck itself; so we were thrilled when we found these tempered-glass panel spindles to use around the deck. (Who wants to stare at a lake through solid bars?) Even on a rainy day I enjoy relaxing on one of the sofas and being able to look through them, out onto the lake. It was definitely our pleasure having you all! And we are so glad to have been able to help make your and your extended family's vacation as enjoyable as possible! We hope to have you all back in the future... Thank you again, Natalie & Joe
It is all about the view
It is all about the view
SPECTACULAR long view across Lake Hopatcong. GREAT location on a quiet cove, and secluded on a dead end street. The newer deck overlooking the lake is a highlight - the glass spindles allow an unobstructed view when you're sitting in one of the comfortable chairs, and as a family with a young child, the latching gates gave us peace of mind. The owners are very accomodating. We had a wonderful time!

Owner response: We really enjoy helping make our guests' vacations as enjoyable as possible! Whether it be suggesting a marina for a boat rental, or providing directions to the closest grocery or somewhere else, it's our pleasure to know it's made someone's getaway better. Having children ourselves, we know how important the peace of mind is of knowing your child is safe. The latching gates on the deck, and the variety of life vests we stock all contribute to that and always made OUR time there more relaxing...We are pleased it benefitted you as well! We hope to see you back next summer! :-) Natalie & Joe

Owner response: We are so pleased our home on the lake helped make your and your family's vacation fun! We enjoy being able to share our home and it's special location with our guests. :-) We look forward to having you all return in the future! Best, Natalie & Joe
Being avid wakeboarders we chose this house especially because of the section of the lake its located on. We stayed an entire week and wish we could have stayed the entire summer! Everything about our vacation was perfect, we loved the deep water cove, and the large deck overlooking the lake was amazing. The dock had more than enough room for my boat, and really made our vacation very convenient. We woke up every morning to glassy flat water right in the backyard...Amazing! The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook dinners (except food of course), and the Wii game system was a hit. The neighbors were all nice, courteous, and very helpful. Natalie and Joe are great landlords, and have definitly gone the distance to make this house comfortable, and easy to enjoy. We all gave this house 2 thumbs up and will definitly be looking to rent again next year!

WHAT A GREAT FIND!!!
WHAT A GREAT FIND!!!
Everything about this place was right! The view was amazing. There are enough water toys, life jackets, etc. to keep everyone entertained, and then some! The owners are just the most helpful and hospitable anyone could hope for; a real host and hostess. The kitchen was SO much fun!!! The pictures and description of this property are very good, but the actual experience is even better! When we arrived, everyone went right out on the deck, and within 10 minutes they were all in the water with tubes, rafts, etc. I can truly say this was a perfect vacation. My friends who have seen the photos are just blown away; I'd recommend this place to anyone who asks---only not too many, please; I may want it again!

Owner response: Hi Yvonne, It was such a pleasure helping you with your husband's surprise birthday getaway to our lake house - I think we were just as excited about it as you were! And hearing about the wonderful turkey dinner you were making while there, made me want to join you :-) (I too love to cook, and especially enjoy cooking at the lake because it's so open and I can still be a part of what's going on.) We are thrilled that your husband loved it and you all enjoyed your week; it is one of our greatest joys knowing our guests have created wonderful memories during their stay! We hope to have you back in the future. And if you'd like to share any photos, we'd definitely enjoy seeing them! All the best! Natalie & Joe

Our family had the most wonderful week at your lovely home on the Lake. You had every type of fun floating feature possible that made our time in the water a delight. The floating dock with the diving board was a big hit for the grandkids! The plentiful supply of linens and towels were more than adequate for our family group. And, we all kept telling one another that we had never seen a kitchen so well stocked with every gadget, multiple pots & pans, dishes, cups, glasses, appliances, etc. In fact, we only ate out one night while we were at the Lake, because the kitchen made it so simple to prepare our meals there. Then, to have a washer & dryer right in the kitchen was a big plus. The large deck, with the beautiful view of the Lake, was super for eating our meals outside and playing cards into the night (with the terrific outdoor lighting). We, too, took the grandkids to the nearby Water Park and they had a super time! Thanks for the best family vacation ever!

Owner response: Hi Sherrie and Jon, We also rarely eat out when at the lake house, since I enjoy cooking in that kitchen. (But there are some great restaurants in the area.) It makes us feel so good to hear how much everyone enjoyed our home! Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful review :-) We hope to have you back in the future! All the Best, Natalie and Joe
We were very comfortable and felt right at home. We had everything we needed and it was the perfect drive to NYC. The beds were comfy and the neighborhood was quiet. We appreciate the opportunity to rent the home. Thanks!

Owner response: Hi Deadra, We're lucky our quiet little neighborhood seems like worlds away from the noise and bustle of the city, yet is still easily accessible to New York. We're happy you were able to enjoy both the relaxing location, as well as one of the best cities in the world! We hope to welcome you and your family back in the future... The properrty was well represented by the photos. We found the home very well equipped with many extras. It was very well maintained. The owner provided us with a lot of information that was helpful getting there and while we were there. Also good instructions for trash disposal, use of equipment., etc. We would surely recommend it.

My family and I stayed at this property in August 2010. We had a great time. The lake front house was perfect for us! The kitchen was stocked beyond belief! Everything we needed to cook dinner was there, well not the food but all the pots, pans utensils, and tupperware galore. Having the sheets and towels provided was a huge bonus! The sheets were very soft. There were plenty of bath towels and lake towels .The TREX deck was great, it offered us great views of the lake. And we loved the pier extending over the lake. The water in the cove was very refreshing. The many many lake floats were wonderful. Tons of floating chairs and noodles and rafts kept my kids very busy in the lake. The floating diving pier was also a hit with the kids. We also ventured to a waterpark about 30 minutes away that, according to my kids, was the BEST waterpark ever. We also rented a pontoon boat for the day and that was great. So fun to explore the many coves of the lake and drop anchor for a swim. We enjoyed this vacation very much and would return in a heartbeat!

Owner response: Glad the info on the water parks ended up helping out! There are so many things to do around the area that make Lake Hopatcong a super spot for a vacation getaway!!! We've rented elsewhere in the past, and found there weren't enough supplies, so it's our goal to try and anticipate all our renters' needs, and make sure they're satisfied. :-) We hope you're able to return in the future! THANKS, Natalie & Joe

About the owner: My husband Joe and I live in New Jersey and have 2 children. We love to travel and enjoy getting away to the lake for quiet time - it's a private oasis from the rest of our lives.
Why the Owner Chose Hopatcong:
We wanted to find a Lake Front home with plenty of space for entertaining our family and friends, without having to drive hours to get there! We also wanted to be able to swim and dive safely, right from our dock - with no worries of speeding boats injuring anyone. This Great home on our private cove was the answer to everything on our wish-list! We also added an extra-large deck built with top-of-the-line materials to make our outdoor living even more pleasurable!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
You truly feel like you've escaped everything once you reach our private, dead-end road! No cars will be buzzing by, and no swarms of people hustling for parking spots. (3 cars fit in our driveway.) The house is located on a deep-water, private cove, just around from Byram Cove. Enjoy the use of a private diving platform, right in the middle of our cove. Fish right off the dock (License Required by State of NJ). Bask in the sun on our large deck or dock, while taking in the Gorgeous Views! We enjoy traveling, and having rented homes where things are missing, or are poor quality etc; here we strive to anticipate your needs and make your vacation as fantastic and as memorable as possible!
