Perched just above the tiny outport fishing village of Brigus South, Anchor Rock Lookout is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy life. Sit on the wrap-around deck or the upstairs balcony and watch the tide go in and out in Brigus Cove, the birds flying near Brigus Head, or perhaps spot a whale or iceberg floating by out in the ocean. Just a few steps away are blueberries for the picking in season.
Newly built and opened in June 2010, Anchor Rock Lookout is furnished with all the modern conveniences of life, but also features a touch of yesteryear with rich hardwood floors and antiques throughout. The 3 main bedroom suites each feature a queen bed and an attached bathroom. The master bath has a clawfoot tub,a large shower, and ocean views, while the 2 upstairs bathrooms feature huge showers and one has a waterfall view. Fluffy sheepskin rugs from New Zealand and flat screen TVs with DVD players adorn each bedroom suite. Also upstairs are 2 smaller rooms with a twin bed in each, suitable for children or single adults. In between the upstairs bedroom suites you will find a library with a balcony overlooking the ocean and a sitting room with a sunset view, so that you can get almost continuous sun during the day. Two bedrooms look out over a nearby waterfall.
You will love the open plan feeling downstairs, with large picture windows everywhere, a Great Room with a large flat screen satellite HD television, DVD player, stereo system with I-Pod dock, and a selection of DVDs and CDS for your use. The Great Room is open to the kitchen and dining room and provides for easy entertaining. The kitchen is has a pantry which is fully stocked with general cooking provisions as well as fixings for your first breakfast. A clothes washer and dryer are located in the mudroom, and laundry soap and other necessities are provided.
Anchor Rock Lookout is only 45 minutes drive south of the capital, St. John's, on the Irish Loop of Newfoundland. The house is just a short walk to the East Coast Trail and you can hike to La Manche Provincial Park to the north or Admiral's Cove and Cape Broyle to the south. Cape Broyle also features world class sea kayaking. The historic town of Ferryland is only a short drive away, where you will find the Avalon Colony archaeological dig, the world famous Lighthouse Picnics, and a dinner theatre.
Come visit our enchanting corner of the world. You will be glad you did.

Words cannot describe the beauty, hospitality and enjoyment at this perfect home! A huge thanks to Randy and Darlene, we were able to experience cod jigging with one of the most memorable men we have ever met. It was by far the highlight of our stay here. Randy sacrificed his time to try to make our stay memorable. This is definitely a trip we will never forget and we will be sure to return in the near future.Did you find this review helpful? Fabulous location, beautiful home. Great place for day trips - Ferryland, Cape Race, St. John's, Portugal Cove and Pouch Cove and Brigus/Conception Bay South. Gatheralls was great, caught the last dozen puffins and even saw a Minke whale. Breathtaking scenery EVERYWHERE, extremely hospitable people everywhere we went and delicious food every time we ate! Delicious fresh cod on our first night from a neighbor who lives near the house. A perfect holiday for a mother and her three daughters!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I loved everything about the place...the house is beautiful, the view is awesome, I especially loved the waterfall. Listening to it as I fell asleep...going off to dreamland was so peaceful and magical. Hoping to come back soon. Darlene and Randy, thanks so much for everything.Did you find this review helpful? What a great hideaway. We had a blast! The house has been everything we imagined plus more. We went on a few hikes - hiked to the suspension bridge at La Manche Park. Unbelievable scenery. Try it, you'll love it! Drove over to Brigus and was surprised to arrive at the 25th Blueberry Festival - fun and friendly people! We had an outstanding lunch at Dildo Dory Grill in Dildo. Oliver's in St. John's provided us with the best seafood chowder. We took the Whale and Bird tour in Bay Bulls. Saw one whale. Lovely beast and great weather. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home and "the best" accommodations. We have every experience! We loved walks on the East Coast Trail, searching out rughooking displays and Woody loved being on tour with Randy. Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

It's taken us a long time to visit "The Rock" - the land of some of our ancestors. We were here celebrating our mom's 80th birthday and her wish to see lovely Newfoundland once more and share it with her children. The natural beauty here took our breath away! Always heard of the wonderful hospitality and welcoming charm of the "Newfies" but Randy and Darlene...you could be official ambassadors. Thank you both for adding a special "fun" to our trip and thanks to you, Chris and Ed, for sharing your lovely home and wonderfully memorable and breathtaking views! Memories of this trip will last forever with us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Your home is beautiful! The sunrises and sets incredible! We were able to visit Torbay and Placentia - the home places of our ancestors and see a few relatives as well. Randy and Darlene made our stay extra special - took us to two festivals and had us for brunch....Spectacular! Thank you for a wonderful stay in Newfoundland.Did you find this review helpful? Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful spot! The breathtaking views, whales, beautiful landscape and the BEAUTIFUL weather truly made this trip great. Coupled with the opportunity to share my ancestry with my family and grandmother, this trip was once in a lifetime. MANY thanks to Darlene and Randy! Their hospitality and kindness helped us truly understand the life and culture here in Newfoundland. Darlene has a sign that reads, "Come in as strangers, leave as friends." So grateful for our new friends!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
