We really enjoyed our time here. Relaxing, comfortable home off the beaten path. The property was clean, comfortable and well maintained. We enjoyed the warm fireplace every morning with our coffee and sitting on the deck watching the deer and other wildlife in the evening. We focused our time on photography and simply enjoying the natural beauty. The local people were very friendly and eager to direct us to their favorite spots. Corinne, the local contact, helped us with all our questions and even checked with us mid-week to verify things were as expected. Thanks for sharing you home with us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: We're so glad that you enjoyed all the things we love so much about our home. It's truly a wonderful place! We hope to welcome you back soon. ~ Ridlon & Carin

Quiet and private location with awesome views from every room, not to mention the deck and balcony. Very well equipped with all the amenities you could want. Great wildlife watching with mule deer nearby every morning and evening. Between the Bitteroot mountains, valley and river there is something for everyone here. This property is as advertized and will not disappoint, and Ridlon is a pleasure to deal with. Thanks again Ridlon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

What a lovely place to start and end a day of hiking and fishing. The decks and views of mountains and night skies were the perfect place for breakfast, grilling and eating outdoors, enjoying a glass of wine, and relaxing in the hot tub at the end of a long hike. The showers were hot, the beds comfortable, and the kitchen was truly amenable to all sorts of cooking needs. This VRBO felt like staying at a friend's house, clean, inviting and relaxing. Thank you! We highly recommend it for a VRBO.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Our family of 8 adults loved this house and we had plenty of room to spread out and relax. The view of the mountains was great and we enjoyed the sunsets and stargazing. One of the things that was especially nice was the deck on one side of the house on the balcony on the opposite. Our stay was in the summer and although it was unusually warm we could move from one side of the house to the other and still be comfortable while enjoying the outdoors. We would like to commend the owners for purchasing a trundle bed in place of an air mattress so all eight of us could sleep in comfort. I would definitely recommend this property and if we ever return to the area we would try to rent it again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is a beautiful home in a magnificent location. The views are incredible, the house is cozy and very functional. We LOVED taking part in all of the owners adventures through their artwork and picture diaries of their travels. We were close to our favorite activities, 65 mile ATV ride, great fishing, and hiking. We will be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

The pictures don't do this place justice - it was incredible. The house was just perfect - we took pictures just to show friends back home. Probably the most peaceful place my wife and I have ever been and the views of the mountains from the dining room and back porch were wonderful. We woke up to hummingbirds and deer and enjoyed grilling out at night. Great spot close by to get great steaks. Hiking Blodgett Canyon was awesome. All the recommendations the Kiphart's provided were spot on. Thanks so much Ridlon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: We are 10 year veterans of the luxury hotel industry and wanted to create a mountain lodge retreat with the look and feel of the 5-Star western lodges we worked with over the years. In the summer, we spend time on our outdoor living decks, love watching the abundant wildlife on the property, go hiking and enjoy a glass of wine in the hot tub. In the winter, we love the skiing (downhill and x country) and chilling out by the fireplace. Every year, we travel and guide people to the most exotic places in the world but always look forward to coming back to this mountain lodge home. The Bitterroot Valley grabbed us with its stunning grandeur, access to millions of acres of National Forests, friendly people and absolute wealth of outdoor activities. We drove the Rocky Mountains from New Mexico to Canada looking for our mountain home and this is what we chose. We love it dearly.
Why the Owner Chose Darby:
