Welcome to Riverslie, a home that has been in our family since the early 1900s. Our family also owns the island just across the river, so your views from the house are rare (especially in this area!) in that you are looking across the water at an undeveloped, wooded island instead of at other houses. The island is home to 2 pairs of bald eagles and we have often seen fox, muskrat and all sorts of birds nearby. We recently refurbished the house, which easily sleeps 13, specifically for renters. There is a fully stocked kitchen, pool, big screened porch, unscreened porch off the kitchen, BBQs, hammock, 2 docks that we've used for crabbing for many years, boathouse, garden, big lawns perfect for horseshoes and croquet or other lawn games - all tucked back on 11 acres on the Miles River, within an easy boat ride to St. Michaels or a quick kayak or canoe over to one of the sandy beaches on the island.
The upstairs has a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and views of the water, and three other bedrooms (1 King, 1 double, 1 twin) that share a full bath. The downstairs has another double bedroom with en suite bathroom, and halfway up the stairs there is a comfy den/tv room with a pull-out bed, a cot and a very large sofa. This den also has its own full bathroom. This house has been used to family reunions, mothers day gatherings, birthday parties and many other wonderful family events for many years. It is a well-thought out mix of comfortable bedrooms, kitchen and tv room with a more formal dining room and sitting room, and most importantly, loads of outdoor space.
We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Three generations gathered at Riverslie for a family reunion after attending a wedding on nearby Kent Island. We had a great visit. We received a quick and positive reply from the owner on our initial inquiry about the rental and she was willing to adjust the fee since we only stayed four nights. Continuing in the process we dealt with Maritime Properties and they will efficient and easy to deal with. The house was spacious for our three generations, three being toddlers who loved the family room over the kitchen. We fell in love with the view from the deck/porch, and enjoyed the privacy and large yard surrounding the house. We do have a few suggestions: 1) Update your web page. You mentioned that linens and a kayak were included and when we received the contract, there were extra charges for each. We also thought the $210 extra charge for the low quality linens you provided was steep. 2) More efficient service providers. On day one of our stay, a shower in one of the bathrooms was not working. We notified Maritime Properties and they told us a plumber would fix it for us. He came three days later and even though he knew of the problem he didn't have the part to fix the shower. We never had use of that shower. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Riverslie and recommend it for large group gatherings!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our stay at Riverslie was excellent! The setting and property were both picturesque - secluded yet wide open and right on the water. The house was large and spacious with plenty of beds and bedding (as well as bathrooms and showers) to comfortably sleep numerous guests. The kitchen and upstairs living room, both clean and updated, were exceptionally nice and useful. The outdoor area, complete with two docks, a private beach area, outdoor deck, screened-in porch, and plenty of seating, made our time extremely enjoyable and allowed us to fully appreciate the beautiful scenery. In addition, the pool (and its surrounding area) was both convenient and clean as well as a great amenity to have at the house. We highly recommend this property!Did you find this review helpful? Owner info
Year Purchased: 1940
About the owner: The house is owned by several members of a family that is based mostly in Baltimore. Our grandfather, who was born and raised in Easton, MD, inherited the house from his sister who married a man who was born in the house, so it has been in our family for a long time! This picture is of one of the owners and her (now) husband on the front lawn, rehearsing for our wedding.
Why the Owner Chose St. Michaels:
We inherited this house - so we did not choose the location so much - but we have chosen to keep it and renovate it because the location is so incredibly special...near St. Michaels and Easton, right on the water, great birding, hunting, watersports - and close enough to Baltimore and DC that it makes for an easy and quick getaway! Most amazingly, it is directly across the river from a protected and undeveloped island, which provides very pristine views from the porch.
The Unique Benefits at this Estate:
Amazing sunsets, great birding, fun lawn games (we have a long-standing tradition of family croquet matches) and watersports, long runs down the secluded driveways and further on down the peaceful road.
