Secluded wooded cabin on 86 acres on Round Top Mountain with 360 view of trees and treetops from every window. Cut through the woods on our rustic windy mountain road off the beaten path. This cedar shingled house with a galvanized steel roof was lovingly built by the owner in 2001. The expansive porch serves as a second living room and play area. There are children's swings and rope ladders, comfy chairs for reading in and a stunning outdoor fireplace built with bricks salvaged from a local schoolhouse.

20 yards from the house is a small clearing with a stone ringed pit for bonfires and toasting marshmallows. Surrounding large bluestone slabs provide ample space to lie on and stargaze.

The first level is one open room, living area, dining area and kitchen in one, centering around a wood burning stove. Upstairs you'll find an open living area with a bunkbed, bookshelves, toy shelves, linen storage and skylight. The oversized master bedroom has a king size bed and a couch that pulls out into a full size bed. The guest bedroom has an antique full size iron bed.

Our house guests have included artists, actors and writers, many who come up to escape the city and to be rejuvenated and inspired by the wonders of nature. Kid friendly.

I fell in love with this house the moment we walked in the door. It was a great rental for our group of 6. No details were overlooked-- the extra touches and amenities were perfect. The record player was a real treat. We will absolutely be back-- and can't wait!

My girlfriend and I spent her birthday weekend at this cabin. We were really blown away by the property and the love that went in to building the cabin. We stopped in Woodstock on our way to do some food shopping, and spent the weekend cooking, listening to the cabin's record collection, and sitting by the fire (the fireplace on the porch is awesome!). It's rare to get to be in such a secluded and gorgeous spot. We will definitely be back!

We had a idyllic weekend away in this adorable "cabin" (it's much nicer than just a cabin). It has a ton of charming aspects: a very comfortable porch for hanging out, an outdoor fireplace - perfect for smores!, lovely furnished bedrooms, great bathroom, and a spacious open living room/kitchen. We found everything that we needed. We have two young children, and they were entertained the entire time. We would definitely come again!

We enjoyed our stay so much at this lovely house. The house is well-designed, modern yet comfortable. The opening living space is great for cooking and relaxing and the upstairs is perfectly laid out. The land is really nice with a large open area to play in the grass and tress surrounding. There is even a large stone firepit! We liked it so much we booked our next stay as soon as we got home!

We had the most lovely stay here. The cabin is pleasant, spacious and clean. Beautiful woods, we truly felt secluded in the best way possible. A hammock where you could comfortably snooze or read all day. The kitchen is well-equipped and great to cook in. Big porch where we spent hours lounging around, listening to birds and crickets and the rustling of trees. Nice outdoor fireplace too! We loved that they had a record player and really enjoyed the great vinyl collection! The bed in the master bedroom is huge and extremely comfortable, we wished we could take it home. Great places to hike nearby, and the owner was very nice, helpful with recommendations and accessible whenever we had questions. We would definitely do this again!

I have stayed at this place numerous times and it is probably one of my favorite places in the world to unwind and sleep. It's so quiet here and the sound of the wind in the trees at night will make you sleep like a baby. I have often climbed in New Paltz on a beautiful fall day and then made the short 30-minute drive from there to stay at this wonderful property. The best way to end a daytime adventure in the country is to barbecue some homemade food with friends and sit by the fire at night looking at all the stars you don't get to see in the city. And then, I can't stress enough how great it is to sleep in such a comfortable, quiet house. I've never felt better in the morning than I have here. I might add that beside the great surroundings nearby, the property itself is a great place to take a long hike, especially in the fall when the temps are ideal and you can have your very own slice of amazing fall foliage. AND, you absolutely won't find nicer owners than these...truly great people.

This property is very secluded and quiet, no other houses in view, rarely the sound of a car. We saw deer, picked berries, walked along trails, all on the property. We have a 3 year old, he loved it. The house had an assortment of toys and games and books for varying ages. There is a lot of choice in kids sleeping arrangements, bunk beds, a crib, easily moved mattresses. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking, plastic cups and plates for kids. Great porch with a few types of swings. Close by there is a ranch/zoo with pony rides, pick your own farms (we went to Fix Bros), a lake with beach and swimming. Easy drive to Woodstock and Saugerties for cute town shops and restaurants. We didn't want to leave and are looking forward to coming back.

We loved our visit to the catskills house. It is quiet, relaxing, and feels very remote, despite being close to the town of Catskill (good for a quick grocery run). The kids can roam freely, explore the woods, sway on the hammock or the porch swing, while adults hang comfortably on the porch or in the loft-like downstairs. If anyone feels the need to explore, there are plenty of affordable antiquing opportunites in the town of Hudson or places to swim in a lifeguarded lake, one scenic drive over the mountain. But sitting around is good, too!

I have stayed at this place three Summers in a row, with boyfriend's, family and friends. It is the perfect place to get away from big city life, but feel surrounded by the comforts of home. The decor would make Martha jealous. The breakfast area in the LARGE living room downstairs is so charming and cam accommodate a sit down dinner for 10 (trust me!). I have gone up with that many and been super comfortable. The bedrooms are big enough for bed guests and sleeping bags in a pinch. In fact, the hallway upstairs can accommodate a full mattress on the floor when needed. (I love unexpected visitors! heheh). And I love the full bath upstairs, lovely clean, white design. Oh, and the yard, the enormous yard! And they have a grill which I recommend for clam grilling. totally do it. They open up when cooked and yum! And the wraparound porch is perfect for hanging out in the day to hide from the sun or to gather after dinner. Although I wish I knew someone who played guitar. That would be fun! Anyway, I highly recommend this property. Its convenient to get to and has nearby shopping, so you can stock up on good food and hide form the real world. I'm going late Summer/early Fall; don't you dare outbid me!

              Year Purchased: 2001

About the owner: We bought these 86 acres of woods in 2001, looking to build ourselves a sweet little place to escape to. We are a musician and a former modern dancer. We have two little kids who love exploring in the woods, digging in the dirt and picking berries off the bushes as much as we do. We love to see their dirty faces and hands at the end of a day in the woods.

              Why the Owner Chose Catskill:
This cabin is less than 2 hours from NYC and 1.5 hours from Northern New Jersey. It is a few miles from the Hudson River with its majestic views. Hudson is a 15 minute drive away with its Amtrak station, incredible restaurants and is a magnet for those with an interest in mid-century modern furniture. The Rip Van Winkle Bridge is close by and great for a scenic bike ride or run. In the warmer months, there are nearby lakes to dip in and the famous Kaaterskill Falls, the wonders of Olana and its iconic Hudson River views. The diversity of the surrounding area ranges from the nearby Mahayana Buddhist Temple, the Roundtop Raptor Center (with shows featuring our local residents- the falcons and hawks of Roundtop Mountain) to Bailiwick Ranch where you can test out your equestrian skills. Fall is the most incredible time to be in these parts with the trees in their full glory! And we are close to Hunter and Wyndham for the ski season.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The house being as secluded as it is really affords you the time and space to relax and reflect. The wide porch serves multiple purposes- a place to meditate or practice yoga surrounded by nature with its unmatchable sounds, a place for kids to swing and play through the day, a place to dine al fresco, and a place to sit in front of a roaring fire during chilly Catskill nights. We do not have access to a lot of technology, forcing us to unplug and reconnect with each other and ourselves. We end up reading more, cooking, playing board games and doing puzzles. We do have 3G connection at the house and cell phones work perfectly. I can provide you with local places with free wifi if needed.
