  This was our first stay for longer than a week. We thoroughly enjoyed the area as both shopping and the beach were only a few miles away - this suited us to a T. Our hosts were second to none - Jessie was there when we needed info or something to be replaced or repaired. His boat ride was an added experience.Would we stay there again ? you bet. The scenery was fabulous and the area was very quiet. If you are looking for a place to relax this is it - the hot tub was also a hit.

  My wife and I made our first trip to the San Diego Are and truly enjoyed our stay in Lake San Marcos. Jesse was a great host and provided us with everything we needed and then some. The bottle of wine upon our arrival was a nice touch. The home provided us with all the amenities required to enjoy our vacation including the use of the Tappan Fabulous 400 range. A step back to yesteryear! The location allowed us to explore the areas from Carlsbad to San Diego and to be able to enjoy the relaxed lifestyle Southern California has to offer. We will be back!   We have stayed at other VRBO properties, but the attention to detail by Jesse is what made this home feel like home. He stocks the house with all of your basic sundries from soap to toilet paper to coffee to bottled water and so much more. The welcoming bottle of wine was a nice touch. He met us at the door and walked us through the home. Everything is clean and well maintained. The beds are comfortable and the furnishings are everything that you need. To top it all off, you get to wake up in the morning to see ducks, geese and swans on your lawn or by the dock and enjoy a sunrise breakfast with them. We unfortunately did not get to do the boat ride with Jesse, and hope that next time we return, we will be able to take him up on his offer. Jesse is exactly what you are looking for as your host. He is knowledgeable and lives just across the street so that if you need anything he can be there in a wink of an eye. The next time we are in this area, we will be sure to stay at Jesse's place once again. Thanks Jesse for everything. Your home is beautiful and we enjoyed every moment.

  Jesse made our visit so enjoyable. The house was clean and fully stocked - even laundry detergent! You cannot find a better value. The kitchen had everything we needed. I cannot begin to describe how terrific our stay was. The view from the patio facing the lake is wonderful. I enjoyed watching the wildlife from the patio. The house is spacious and the bedrooms all rooms are large. We easily accommodated 5 additional guests for dinner. You will not be disappointed. Jesse, thank you!

  We love to stay in the San Diego area and our recent excursion was an unexpected surprise. San Marcos Lake is nestled close to all the points that we like to visit is southern California. The house was exceptional, with a full windowed wall facing the lake. Private dock, kayaks and bikes, who could ask for more. How about a country in walking distance? Or excellent restaurants within 10 minutes? Even a private boat tour of the lake. This is an excellent choice for a get away. We were thoroughly satisfied.

  Just returned to Wisconsin after 9 days at this vacation paradise in Lake San Marcos. We had a great time and the icing on the cake includes very clean, spacious inviting living areas, wonderful boat ride with lots of history conveyed by Jesse and the amiable, gracious and welcoming demeanor of Jesse himself. We will certainly be back as soon as we can figure out the dates for our next trip!!!

  From our arrival at the Lake House to our departure, our accommodations could not have been more enjoyable. Everything described in the listing was complete....and more. Jesse's attention to detail in providing the little extra's (ample supply of bottled water), was most appreciated. Coffee on the Patio in the A.M., dinner & Bar-B-Q in the P.M. offered us the chance to view and photograph the many Egrets and White Swans that graced our Lake front a few yards away. Dinner at the Clubhouse (a block up the street) our first night was enjoyable and convienent after our 7 hour drive from home. Great food and great staff. Also, during the week we were able to dine at several other fantastic restaruants within 15-30 minutes away at Vigalucci's in Encinitas, The Posieden in Del Mar, Four Seasons "Aviara" Resort in Carlsbad, the Rancho Bernardo Inn and at Moma Kats for the best breakfasts in San Marcos, just 5 minutes away. The higlight of our visit was our tour of the Lake on Jesse boat, with his dog. Have you ever seen a dog steer a boat? Well, we have pictures to prove it. While this was our first visit, it won't be our last. We're already making plans for next year. Great hosts, good stuff...we had a "Hoot."

  W e enjoyed our stay in San Marcos, and would recommed it to our friends. we were pleased with the extras's that were provided for us, especially the boat ride and and the info on local history of the Lake. There was some misunderstanding about the check out date, we thought our reservations were from 8-5-12 through8-18-12.which included Sunday. Plans had to be changed at the last minute.l

  Owner response: It was a pleasure having this couple stay at our house. Unfortunately they thought their reservation was until Sunday, 8/19 even though the contract was for 13 nights from 8/5 to 8/18. The place was very clean when they left on Saturday 8/18 which made it easier for us since we had another party arriving Saturday afternoon. We would have been happy to allow them to stay an extra night if we hadn't already rented it to someone else.

  We had a great time and the owner Jesse was a wonderful host, even taking us for a ride around the lake on his boat. The duplex was clean and well stocked. It was such a relaxing vacation and a good location. Legoland 10 minutes away, San Diego about 30 minutes away. Would definitely rent again when in the area.
