Beautiful, Secluded Guest House in the Heart of Tucson

Our 900 square foot guest house is a garden sanctuary in the center of Tucson. It has been renovated, but still maintains the feel of an older home. It has an eclectic feel, and is very artistic; is within a few minutes of most commercial, retail and university areas, and within 30 minutes of most things Tucson. There are 3 lush secluded patios, an horno (mud oven), gas grill and smoker, vegetable garden and small fountain that are available for your enjoyment. We have 2 nice mountain bikes that are available for in-town commuting, or for a nature ride on nearby trails. While this is on shared property with the owners, the house is completely separate, and has the feel of a private home.

No surprises here, everything was exactly as I was expecting - the owner details and pictures are very accurate. The home is very clean and comfortable and well equiped. The garden and patio areas were an added bonus. The location is very central and getting around Tucson was quite easy. Mark & Christine are wonderful hosts - their knowledge of the Tucson area was invaluable. They made us feel right at home and even went as far as to invite us to Thanksgiving dinner - thanks again for a delicious meal.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I made these arrangements for some friends who used to live in Az and return each year to visit. I was very impressed with the Guest House and dealing with the owners and VRBO. The following are the comments of the guests."Our first impression was how much bigger it was than the pictures showed and very tastefully decorated along with everything you needed to stay awhile. If what you needed was not there Kristine and Mark were very kind and accommodating. It was very quiet so we felt safe as if we were the only ones around. We wondered about the evaporative cooling in July but with the ceiling fans it was quite sufficient even too cool we would at times turn them off. We also appreciated the covered parking and the patios were a delight to use. This was our first experience using a Guest House. Thank You for making it a pleasant one!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I stayed at this gorgeous guest home with my cousin Natasa and friend Bostjan, who were visiting from Slovenia, during the UA Homecoming weekend (October 20-October 28, 2010) and it was the BEST stay I have ever experienced in Tucson and I visit Tucson quite regularly. The home is homey and comfortable with the Tucson style architecture and feel. And if anything could top this great home was the most gorgeous back yard, that we enjoyed every morning and every evening, sometimes feeling like we were keeping the home Owners, who were very nice and accomodating, from enjoying their own yard. Thank you Kristine for welcoming us into your home and letting us enjoy it to the fullest. I will be back soon and all I can hope is that you will have availability when I do decide to return to Tucson next year.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Location, location, location! If you want the best of both worlds -- easy access to fun and funky urban offerings and amazing desert hikes, you'll love this place! Besides the convenience, the place itself is such an alluring refuge -- easy to feel at peace and at home, while immersing in exotic and "foreign" natural beauty of the desert Southwest and the low-key, relaxing, quiet southwest lifestyle -- in the middle of the city! Highlight: walking out every morning into our own private, secluded, tranquil piece of paradise. Beautifully landscaped with shady native trees and flowering cactus, shrubs and groundcovers, breathtaking color from the bougainvillea cascading down the stucco walls, and an enticing vegetable garden. There are talavera pots of fragrant citrus trees right outside the sliding glass doors, at the edge of the shaded portico. There’s an earthen wood-fired oven that bakes amazing homemade pizza. Desert songbirds and migrating species visit the babbling agave water sculpture, while mourning doves coo from above. The peaks of the Catalinas glow in the mornings and evenings, and you can even see the Ventana rock formation (with binoculars) from your vantage on the patio. There are a few different areas to hang out in –shady or sunny, your choice—set apart by landscaping and artfully constructed low walls and pavers, accented with bright mosaic tile. Inside, the guest house is clean, quiet, cool, and comfortable. It feels new and fresh inside, with soft, earthy colors on the walls and Saltillo tile flooring. Finished wood trim, fixtures and furnishings give a lot of charm and character. The main bedroom and the main living area (kitchen, living room, and dining room) are open and spacious. With direct access to the courtyard, it’s a great space for cooking and entertaining a small group of people. Stroll up to Raging Sage for excellent coffee, chat with friendly locals, get ideas for that day’s adventures. Breakfast at the Hotel Congress downtown is a must. Check out the offbeat venues of Fourth Avenue or South Park Avenue and east University Boulevard (west of campus). Finally, don’t miss the opportunity to chat with the friendly proprietors of this unique urban oasis and guest house. They are a repository of interesting anecdotes and information about Tucson, culinary insights, outdoor adventure, desert natural history, sustainable living, progressive politics, and music. Truly a desert refuge for the aesthete!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming, clean, quiet retreat. The courtyard was a lovely spot for morning coffee or evening cocktails. The location was an easy drive to hiking trails, restaurants, and grocery store. The owners were charming and responsive to our questions. We'll definitely return!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
