My family and I visited our favorite beach out in Pointe West, Galveston over spring break! We were very impress with the condo we rented. My kids enjoyed having their own bedrooms and beautiful views of the bay. We love the modern amenities and the simplicity of the condo that we felt relaxed throughout our stay. Ms. Janet and the staff at Pointe West Club House did an outstanding job making us feel very welcome. We had family and friends over for a day, and they were very impress with Pointe West that they will be looking forward to renting out as well the next time. We can't wait till this summer to come back to our favorite island! Thank you for another memorable time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Could be a great rental, but service sucks and the carpet smells. I can't recommend staying here.

As is, I would not consider renting this unit again. The agent's actions, detailed below, have turned us off this place. Additionally, the condo smells awful and the carpets should be replaced. We slept with the windows open because the musty odor was so bad. The linens are Walmart brand and the beds creak badly. Nice views. The rental agent's actions made us feel unwelcome, ignorant, and uncomfortable. When emailing to confirm entry after 6pm, I received a reply that implied I couldn't read her instructions. I have stayed at many VRBOs and have never read instructions that were so convoluted. They do not explain that the "door code" provided was for an electronic pinpad attached to the door's deadbolt. Instead they are littered with references to keys with no location of said keys. The instructions desperately need to be revised and are clearly an umbrella set for all the condos the agent manages in the area. Still confused, I re-sent my inquiry. I received another hasty and rude reply. How rude and hasty you ask? Here's a sample quote. The rental agent writes "Please keep in mind you gave (sic) rented on VRBO. That stands for Vacation Rental by Owner. It will not be like staying at a hotel. We dint (sic) provide shampoo, bar soap, laundry soap etc." How demeaning!? I'm renting from VRBO and have done so multiple times, how could I not know what this means? Further, many VRBOs I've stayed in have provided these things, because they treat their customers as guests, not thieves. But, she wasn't exagerrating when she said they don't provide anything. There was no dishwashing soap, laundry detergent (although they expect you to have started a load of laundry for the cleaning crew),trashbags or handsoap in the restrooms. Plus, only 1 roll of TP/bathroom. When we asked the rental agent for some of these basics, she sent us to another condo in the complex to retrieve it. But, that condo was occupied (she'd mixed up their dates?)!!! So, she gave us access (via electronic keypad door codes) to 3 other units on the property. Made me wonder if she'd given out the door code to our space as well. I would urge the owners of this condo to find a new rental agent and a new attitude towards customers. I've never felt so untrustworthy (I felt the cheap linens and lack of basics were due to the fact that the owners felt guests might steal them). This unit has potential, but changes must be made to capitalize on its views and privacy by making guests feel welcome.Owner response: This is a beautiful, large condo with the best views In Pointe West. The unit has wireless internet, a very nice flat screen TV and a very well stocked kitchen. The living room carpet has been replaced with beautiful hardwood floors and this condo is now truly an upscale showplace. This unit has many families who return every year because it is a superior value in a beautiful location on Galveston Island.

PROS: beautiful condo both inside and out, has everything you need from a fully stocked kitchen (dishes, pots, pans, silverware, cups, microwave, stock, and over) to all the basic every day essentials (toilet paper, paper towels, wash cloths, bathroom towels, dish washing soap, hand soap, and laundry soap), VERY VERY large condo with plenty of space for 8+, beautiful views of the fish pond (front view) and the wet lands / bay (master bedroom / living room view), walking distance to the club house / ocean, great amenities (large TV, plenty of seating, outdoor patio furniture, & high speed internet), nicest area on the island hands down, gorgeous landscaping throughout all of West Pointe, and last but not least priced very reasonable. CONS: the carpets need to be either a) replaced or b) deep cleaned (they have a lot of stains), would recommend washing all your bedding when you arrive (highly doubt the house keeping company does this due to we found strains on one of the beds), wash all plates and silverware before using it (either the housing keeping didn't do the dishes or the previous tenants didn't do the dishes), the kitchen faucet needs to be replaced, (either way I would recommend washing anything you use prior to use), Pointe West is located 20-30 mins from downtown Galveston (sea wall and all restaurants) & bring bug spray (the bugs / mosquitoes are horrible and not just the /Point West area but the WHOLE ISLAND) BONUS / TIPS: the key code that you are given is not for the door it is for a little lock box located on the entry way balcony, as soon as your arrive and unpack go to the Club House and check in so you can get your access bracelet for the Club House (pool, private beach, gym, ETC), rent a golf cart from the club house ($200.00 for the weekend), go out after dark and check out the local wild life (TONS of little crabs and multi colored frogs moving about just down stairs), visit the BEACH, & take in the amazing views that the condo has to offer at sunrise and sunset. SUMMARY: When we arrived we were taking back at how larger and beautiful the condo was. The pictures did not do the condo or the surrounding area justice at all. Minus the hoard of mosquitoes we had to fight and the few flaws with house keeping, we absolutely loved the place and will be returning next year. Don't fall for the crappy hotels on the sea wall that are over priced and down right nasty. Do yourself a favor and stay here I promise you won't regret it, we sure didntRecommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: This well-appointed condo has newly installed hardwood floors in the living room creating a beautiful family gathering space. The newly hired cleaning service takes pride in all aspects of their work and the condo promises to be a relaxing destination worthy of fun, long-lasting family memories.

This condo has an outstanding, unobstructed view of the bay. It was so nice to have meals with our family outside enjoying the scenery. Condo itself is first class and the large TV came in handy for all the New Years football games. Plenty of interior room for our family of five to spread out. We also liked being on the top floor of the condo unit with no one above us. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

The place was really nice and exactly what we were looking for, but the service was horrible. I would rent the place again but not through this agent. When we arrived, we couldn't get in for several hours because we were given just a door code to unlock the place and it didn't work. The lock was broken. I called and emailed the agent and got no response until the next day. Once we finally got in, the internet didn't work as promised and the ice maker didn't work either - not deal breakers, but two things we were expecting to have after talking to the agent and two things that would have made the stay more convenient. The place appeared to have not been cleaned before we got there - dirty dishes in the cabinets, stuff in the fridge and trash, etc. The cleaning lady showed up the day after we arrived and thought we were checking out - had no idea when we checked in (again, confirming to us that the place was not cleaned before.) Again, sad to write a bad review because we really liked the place - lots of space, good access to the beach and clubhouse, etc. but the service was very poor.Owner response: Thank you for your feedback. Following your comments we reviewed our service performance and have made the necessary corrections. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay and am sorry for any inconvenience.

If you want to be relaxed and revitalized this is the place for you. After a day at the beach, pool, kayaking, cyclying, or all of the above, enjoy a drink while watching an incredible sunset on a huge balcony overlooking the bay. The mornings are equally serene. Sit with your morning coffee watching birds of many colors searching for breakfast in the calm bay waters. The apartment itself is relaxing with a modern spin. Clean and uncluttered. And, from the front breakfast room and front porch you can see the ocean. Also, there is tons of room, including 3 full baths! Of course at certain times you'll have to deal with mosquitos but usually there is a bit of wind on the balcony to woosh them away. Finally, the amenities are awesome. An infinity pool at the club house that looks over the beach and ocean. Great food and a work out room Plus, lot's of sponsered activities for kids! Enjoy!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you for the positive review. The free wireless and laptop provided are also handy features in this unit. The Pointe West Resort is a great family destination and this particular unt has some of the most dramatic views the resort has to offer.

I've stayed at this apartment on a couple of occasions and always enjoy this wonderful, well situated, stylish and reasonably priced vacation getaway. The sunrise and sunset views of the bay and gulf are spectacular! The apartment is in a great location, just opposite the beach club, with clean, sandy beaches and a great pool for cooling off during those hot Galveston summers. Whenever I've stayed there, the apartment has been spotless and well maintained. The owners are extremely responsive and very nice. I would highly recommend this property and plan to go back again and again...Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I visited more than once and was impressed with how nice the accommodations are. This place is very nicely furnished! The property is just secluded enough to be quiet, without a lot of beach-goers walking around, but the beach and amenities are easily a short walk away. The view is very nice at sunset.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
