Perfect location between Montparnasse, the Invalides, the Champs de Mars, the Orsay Museum and St Germain des Pres. Less than 200 yards away, runs the rue de Sevres with post office, banks, specialty food shops and supermarkets. Minutes away is the department store “Bon Marche” and its famous “Grande Epicerie”. This area is celebrated for its elegant streets featuring stylish fashion shops, antique shops, art galleries, sophisticated and traditional restaurants and cafes. Many government buildings and the police guarding them make this area probably the safest in Paris. Close by are the Seine, many significant monuments and points of interest as well as many universities: Sorbonne, Assas, Ecole de Medecine, Science-po.
This approx. 1200 sq. ft. duplex is located on the 2 top floors of a 1907 charming small building harboring only 7 apartments. The building entrance is protected by two doors, with coded intercom and coded security system. A door lady lives on the premises but works away part-time. A key-activated elevator leads directly into the entrance of the apartment. The apartment has wall to wall carpeting with Persian rugs, stucco cornices and wood moldings, original oil paintings, drawings and water colors, antique furniture and gold framed mirrors. Sheets, towels, placemats, napkins and all kinds of tableware are provided. Silverware can also be provided on request.
In the entrance, fully mirrored and decorated with antique Venetian glazed statues, one finds the guest toilet with wash basin and window, and a coat closet. It is open onto the double living room. This approx. 330 sq. ft. double room has 2 windows with exterior shutters overlooking the street -northern exposure but lots of light. Also a small window facing south. Over roof tops one can see the top half of the Eiffel tower. It has two large and comfortable sofas, one in leather and one that can convert into a double-bed, 3 “bergeres” and a canape Louis XV style, 3 antique tables including one from Henri IV period and two ancient Chinese tea storage boxes also used as end-tables. Electric light is provided by spots from the ceiling and two bronze lamps including a Chinese antique one. A stereo with Bose surround system.
From the living room one accesses the separate kitchen, fully equipped and with plenty of cooking pots and utensils. It has a window which opens into a bright yard. Also a back door that opens into the service stair case. From the living room one also accesses the dining room that has a double-panned window with iron exterior shutters overlooking the street. It has an oval glass table over a brass sculpture that can seat up to 8 people. There is a fireplace with an antique gold framed mirror and a buffet with an antique bronze lamp. Six chairs plus 2 folding ones.
From the dinning room one accesses the 6th floor bedroom, in suite with its small walk-in closet and its full marble bathroom. The approx. 110 sq. ft. bedroom has a double-panned window with iron exterior shutters overlooking the street. It is furnished with a queen bed and two Chinese lacquered bedside tables with Chinese lamps, one armchair, a full size mirror, a Chinese lacquered commode and original Korean water colors. The antique looking marble tiled bathroom features a bathtub with a shower, a washbasin, a toilet and two southern looking windows.
In the living room stands a Tallon stair case leading to the 7th floor. On the 7th floor is a large bedroom, about 270 square feet, that doubles as an office with great views of the Eiffel tower, the Dome des Invalides, as well as, further away the Sacre-Coeur of Montmarte. This room has a king size bed, two antique bed tables with lamps, a large desk with a scanner, a fax, a flat-screen television, a PAL/NTSC DVD player with French/English DVD library, shelves with many book including leather bound-books antique ones. Also chair, armchair, mirrored commode, hanging space, three other lamps including a Chinese porcelain antique one. It has two double paneled windows with iron exterior shutters over looking the street. As well as a double paneled door opening to a small planted terrace with southern exposure, plenty of sun and no near neighbor. (OK for nude sunbathing)
Open into the bedroom part is a bathroom with gold plated fixtures ( I would obviously not do that today, since gold mining is so bad for the environment), a wash basin and an antique brass bathtub. This bathroom also has a small window overlooking the terrace.
Two vacuum cleaners, iron and large ironing board and hair dryer. Plenty of hot water by 2 separated electric water tanks. Collective central heating. Individual air conditioning on the 7th floor.
The nearest metro station, Vaneau (line 13) is about 2 minutes away, Duroc (line 10 and 13) is 5 minutes away. Stop for 4 bus lines less than 3 minutes away, another 8 bus lines are within 5 to 8 minutes away. Two taxi stands near by.
References are required. Deposit also required.
All-inclusive rate: linens, utilities, cleaning twice a week, free high speed internet, free calls to US &other countries. No addt'l taxes or fees but for some not-free international phone calls ( see details below).
The door lady will clean the apt twice a week and change the sheets and towels once a week (about 6 to 7 hours per week included in the rental). She is also available for ironing, doing the laundry or eventually some cooking/serving; this extra services to be discussed with her and paid to her directly. There is a laundry room in the building –ground floor.
A parking space in the across-the-street building is available for 180 euros per month.
I am searching for a couple who, after a trial stay, is wishing to spend 2 to 6 months per year in the apt. Dates totally flexible

About the owner: I am a Parisian and this is my personal apartment. I live in China where I am involved in philanthropy. The apt could sleep 6 persons but I do not wish more than 2 occupants with occasional trusted friends visiting them for short periods. This is the reason why it is priced quite low for the quality of the premises. I am searching for a couple who, after a trial stay, is wishing to spend 2 to 6 months every year in the apt. The schedule is totally flexible and the minimum stay each time is about one month. Free storage of a small amount of personal belongings -2 or three boxes or suitcases- will be available year long. This is the first time this apt is marketed on the web, until now it was occupied by personal friends of mine. I will be in Paris until late June and I am looking forward to show the apt to potential renters or their trusted acquaintances. Apart from French, I am totally fluent in English and Spanish and can be contacted by phone or email. Once I am back in China my lawyer will be in charge of what cannot be settled by the door-lady or by email .
