L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue farmhouse description
Magnificent 1700’s Mas Provençal situated under the shade of 300 year-old plane trees; swimming pool; extensive landscaped grounds.
Built before the French Revolution, Mas Amoureuse is the quintessential example of the best and most beautiful of Provencal stone farmhouses. Together with its former stone sheep bergere, now part of the original house, the Mas offers over 450m² of the highest quality living space. The farmhouse is gated, entirely private, and set on its own six acres of lushly landscaped grounds. The gardens, with views of Mount Ventoux and the 11th century fortified Abbaye de Thouzon, contain more than 300 rose bushes and climbing rose vines, 2000 lavender plants, an orchard of 40-year-old producing olive trees, cypress trees. Mas Amoureuse produces its own lavender oïl.
The location of Mas Amoureuse is perfect for guests who want to explore every corner of Provence. There are endless opportunities for day trips to different medieval villages in the mornings, an outdoor lunch at a Provencal village restaurant, and perhaps a restful afternoon by the pool. For antique shopping, Isle Sur La Sorgue, the second largest center of antiques in France, is just a ten-minute drive. In less than 20 minutes, you can tour the 15th century Palace du Papes in the historic walled city of Avignon, taste the wines of the grand vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape,Gigondas, Vacqueras, and Beaume des Venise as well as visit The Most Beautiful Villages in France: Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Gordes, Roussillon,Venasque, St Rémy, Les Baux de Provence, Fountaine de Vaucluse, Seguret and Sablet.
The small village of Le Thor is quietly nestled in the countryside among fruit orchards, large vegetable farms, vineyards and sunflowers. The neighboring village of Velleron with a famous fruit and vegetable market open six nights a week. For other shopping, you will find plenty of local shops for fresh bread, croissants, patisseries and a large grocery store within 2-3 km.
Mas Amoureuse, renovated from 2009-2010, is equipped with the highest quality chef’s kitchen: a new La Cornue “Grandpere” gas and electric range; two sinks; two full-sized dishwashers plus a professional wine glass dishwasher and coffee machines etc. The gourmet kitchen has a large wood-burning fireplace; a 207 X 180 cm center island, copper cookware; porcelain, enamel and metal bakeware; Cuisinart food processor; a complete spice and herb inventory; and a large international and French cookbook library. A second kitchen has a new Bosch washer and dryer and additional storage space. The custom walnut kitchen table seats 12, but most meals are eaten just outside the kitchen on the charming flowered, stone terrace. The rose-covered terrace has two large fer forgé tables and 16 comfortable cushioned chairs, perfect for outdoor meals in the shade under the two 300 year-old plane trees. A portion of the owner’s wine collection is also available to guests. The entire Mas is Air-conditioned.
The spacious Grand Salon of the house has a cathedral beamed ceiling and wood-burning Provencal stone fireplace, fabulous French paintings, antique Provencal furniture pieces and chandeliers. The Grand Salon also contains a museum-quality Normandy armoire dated 1784, 18th century Provencal pannetaire, Arlesianne commode, and parquetry tables. The ceiling-high iron and glass doors in this room open to the stone terrace. Just outside the doors of the Grand Salon, this end of the spacious terrace has two antique iron beds, covered with comfortable blue and white toile pillows.
On the opposite side of the Mas is a comfortable family lounge with high, beamed ceilings and its own wood-burning fireplace, cozy designer sofa and chairs, desk and bookcases. Full library of books covering history, fiction, gardening, interior design and children’s books in French. This room is fully equipped with a widescreen Sony LCD TV, satellite reception that includes all available English-speaking news and movie channels as well as German, Russian, Asian and Middle East channels.
Mas Amoureuse has six sunny cheerful bedrooms all freshly decorated with some of the most beautiful French designer fabrics (Manuel Canovas, Pierre Frey, Braquenie, etc.) The beds are made with the highest quality French and Italian 1,000 + count linens and duvets. Five of the six bedrooms have kings and the sixth has twins. One of the bedrooms has its own separate entrance with access from the garden. There are five luxurious bathroom/shower rooms. All bathrooms are equipped with French soaps, shampoos, robes and hair dryers. All the bedrooms have comfortable chairs, end tables with lamps and antique armoires for clothing storage. All the bedrooms, including the Master Bedroom, are air-conditioned.
The 12-meter x 6-meter (20 ft. X 40 ft.) swimming pool is surrounded by rose bushes and stone surrounds with plenty of space for the comfortable, modern sun loungers and parasols.
Mas Amoureuse is an authentic Provençal farmhouse that has been renovated with taste and style. The ideal home from home for a large family or group looking for a haven of tranquility in this delightful part of France knowing at the same time guests can get up and go and visit all the famous sites and exciting towns nearby.

Home of our dreams
I am writing to thank you for helping us find the home of our dreams to spend three glorious weeks with our family in Provence. We absolutely loved the house!!! It surpassed all our expectations. Everything was done with such professionalism, from you to, Beverly to Yvonne and Sylvie. Everybody was so kind and patient. I get emotional just thinking about it. My ten year old daughter was so upset the night before our departure. She did not want to leave the house, I could understand her perfectly! I cannot emphasize how happy we were during our time spent in Provence in such a fabulous home! THANK YOU! Best regards, Heidi

Wonderful home perfect for exploring the Provence
Hi Beverly, Thanks for all your assistance with our booking of this magnificent home, and your wonderful instructions on how to get there – we managed not to get lost at all! What can I say about this beautiful property? Nothing but positive comments! Everything surpassed expectations – the grounds on arrival were beautiful, the trees, roses, vines and lawns idyllic, and a stocked fridge and dinner prepared by Sylvie on our first night - blissful! The property is well placed for exploration of Provence, from the hilltop villages, markets, food and wine areas. As we came home daily from our excursions, the poplar and lavender drive was a ‘welcome home’ signal to get the cheese, bread and ham out, the champagne and wine, and have a lazy summer evening by the pool or watching the more energetic compete at volleyball on the lawn. The home is warm and welcoming, equipped with everything one could possibly think of ,and much we hadn’t thought of as well!, and the lovely extra touches made all the difference: the beautiful flowers Yvonne put out in every room, the comfort of air conditioning if needed, the luxury of super comfortable beds and pillows, the eclectic and interesting art work, the magnificent furniture pieces! Thanks to the owners for sharing their wonderful home with us – it is clearly a special place for them. Thanks also for the opportunity to purchase from their lovely wine selections! Thanks to Sylvie for the delicious meals, and thanks to Yvonne for being there to welcome, assist, clarify, share a drink with, or have a chat, without being in any way obtrusive. We had a wonderful two weeks with family and friends, including five 17 – 19 year olds. We celebrated a 58th birthday, swam, ate and drank and relaxed together sharing a wonderful holiday! Cheers Robyn

I hope to come back soon
I was a guest in your house with a group of twelve friends the first week of October. The house is beautiful, comfortable, with a fantastic and well-appointed kitchen, that we all enjoyed using! The whole house was inviting, but our relaxing time at the end of each day on the patio was a real highlight. Yvonne was very personable, and helpful, and we enjoyed her. We hope we made a good impression on her, too!! My only regret is that the sunflowers and lavender were not in bloom, so I guess we'll have to plan another trip to Provence. I'm encouraging my children to come with friends, and to include me!

Wonderful holidayGuest comment entered by manager
I am really at a loss for words to describe our stay at this beautiful home. I was on a trip with 11 other friends and we had the most wonderful time! Yvonne was beyond helpful and we enjoyed spending some evenings sitting out on the wonderful stone terrace talking with her about the history of the house and about the surrounding villages. Beverly was also wonderful and made sure all was well with us. We loved meeting them both. I think one thing that made this trip so successful is that we never felt crowded. All the bedrooms were so spacious and the living areas and kitchen were just magnificient. The kitchen has absolutely everything anyone would need and the large table for 12 was perfect. We had fun gathering there. We followed the markets to breathtaking villages then returned to our wonderful Mas Amoureuse to rehash our day over a glass of wine. I will never forget this trip. Thank you for allowing us to use your house for our trip to Provence. I only wish it had been longer. We have all come back with great memories and great friendships!!

Beautiful Home, beyond our expectations.Guest comment entered by manager
Beautiful Home, beyond our expectations.
Our group of ten (five couples) decided to go to France in September. We stayed in Paris for a few nights, than off to Southern France near Avignon. We searched for a house via VRBO that would accommodate our needs. We decided on a house about 20 minutes out of Avignon, and the property manager was Beverly. I communicated with Beverly via e-mail on availability, rates, location etc. Beverly was terrific because she always responded on a timely basis. Than we arrived at the house!! Wow! The house was beyond our expectations. A large home with six bedrooms, five baths, a marvelous kitchen, and two private living areas for TV, privacy etc. The house was located on a large acreage with a wonderful swimming pool and bath house. However it included things you really don’t plan on. Each bedroom had an AC unit, showers included wonderful European showers, linens were high count cotton and luxurious. Additionally there were excellent laundry facilities, a fabulous kitchen well stocked, and wonderful wine that we consumed, and paid for from our deposit. Each evening when we ate in, we dined on a large patio overlooking the grounds…simply great. Most important was the service. An on-premise manager, Yvonne (wonderful) was always available, and Beverly frequented us during the visit to confirm we were pleased with the house and service. Additionally she arranged for a chef to come in and prepare a traditional French meal for the group. I can’t say enough about the facilities and Beverly’s attention to detail and service. Our group has taken many trips together, however this was the best. I’d highly recommend the house, and working with Beverly was a wonderful experience.

Vacation of a Lifetime
Vacation of a Lifetime
We just spent 2 weeks with our children and granddaughters at Mas Amoureuse and had the best vacation ever. Yvonne, the house manager, was invaluable. She was always there when we needed guidance or suggestions-always with a smile. She had a super, delicious, dinner ready for us upon our arrival, large bowl of fruit on counter and beautiful flowers on tables throughout. The house is more beautiful than the photos and every detail thought through for guests comfort. Bathrooms, showers, linens of highest quality with French soaps, lotions, cozy robes and all amenities. The kitchen is fully equipped with every necessity, oils, spices, vinegars, dishes, just some of the things. The terrace with comfy daybeds, table and chairs, very relaxing. We enjoyed most meals out there with lovely roses and flowers, and view of a hilltop abbey, which, we did make the walk up to see it and there were magnificant views from the top. Everyone enjoyed the pool but the girls loved it every afternoon on return from many wonderful sightseeing adventures so convenient to the house. This is convenient to Avignon, Arles, Gordes, St. Remy, Pont du Gard, and many more sites. We would recommend Mas Amoureuse to anyone wanting a relaxing, comfortable, well equipped, centrally located home. Great for several couples or family time. We thank Beverly for her help directing us to this beautiful house to celebrate our 50th anniversary. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

We just returned from a week stay with 10 close friends and it was magical from beginning to end. The house is gorgeous. The pictures here do not do it justice if you can imagine that. Comfortable beds, great linens, magnificent swimming pool, great lounging places everywhere you look. The gardens are stunning. The house manager was lovely and Beverly could not have been nicer. It was one of the best weeks of my life. The area is lovely. We had great day trips and then returned to this beautiful house for the most relaxing afternoon and evening. It was great.

Gorgeous home and amazing experience!
Gorgeous home and amazing experience!
Our vacation to Provence was made perfect because of our choice to stay here. I cannot say enough about his house. The description and the photos do not do this property justice! Yvonne, the house attendant, was the perfect hostess: she provided translation for us, directions, recommendations and freshly baked breakfast goods every day. She is also a gourmet cook and she prepared one of the best meals of our entire trip ... and we went to some astounding restaurants! This is a very large and gated piece of property that provides excellent privacy but is perfectly situated within 5-20 minutes from many of the regions most picturesque towns: Gordes, Fountaine de Vaucluse, Roussillon, Avignon and, of course, Isle Sur la Sorgue. The best part is that the house itself is breathtaking. The owners live here half the year and it shows. The attention to detail is remarkable. There are two bedrooms that share a spacious bath but every other bedroom enjoys its own beautifully appointed bath. The rooms are all large with plenty of storage and stocked with more amenities than you would find in any 5-star hotel room. The kitchen has been recently remodeled to perfection and the living areas showcase some of the finest French antiques from the region (I know because we were antique-hunting ourselves). The kids spent all of their time at the pool which is large, clean and has an adjacent pool house with pool toys, a bathroom and refrigerator. The house has a view of an ancient hilltop abbey which we walked to and enjoyed the views. With 6 amazing bedrooms (every one of them ... seriously), this is a wonderful choice for large families or small groups. We looked at many homes before deciding on this one and we feel we got a fantastic value. I would highly recommend this house to anyone traveling to Provence!

Beverly, As promised some comments on Mas Amoureuse. We were honoured to be the first guests at this incredible property. It is even more beautiful than the photograghs suggest. We have never stayed in a villa with so much attention to detail - it is clear that this is someone's dream home and they have put lots of thought into the wellbeing of their guests. All the fixtures and fittings are of the highest standard including expensive kitchen appliances, co-ordinating French linens and fabrics, 2 towelling robes in each bathroom and an abundance of co-ordinating towels, reproduction country furniture, wall art and gorgeous all weather wicker pool loungers. The bathrooms were both thoughtfully equipped with quality soaps, lotions, tissues, shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, qtips. ,etc and the kitchen was fully equipped with cling film, foil, trash bags, soap and kitchen roll. There was even food and drink in the fridge and dry goods and olive oils and vinegar etc in the cupboard. The outside table is on the flower filled front paved area and is lovely and seats 12 and the inside had 10 chairs when we were there but could easily fit 2 more. The pool is 12m x 6m I think ,so plenty big enough for 12 adults .Yvonne the housekeeper can be as visible or invisible as you want. She is a delight. She provided breakfast for us on the first morning of fresh croissants and pain au chocolate - another nice touch. The Nespresso machine completed breakfast and I have one on my Christmas present list! She was always on hand for advice on shopping ,markets etc.and co-ordinating cleaners and gardeners to come when we were out so as not to intrude on our privacy ,which we very much appreciated. Beverly kindly offered to shop for us for an arrival package which we declined expecting to arrive Sun at 10am . Unfortunately our plane was delayed and we didn't arrive until 4pm Sun when all shops are closed. We called her to let her know and asked her to get a few things for an evening meal for us - she offered a cooked meal but my husband wanted to cook from day 1 !She supplied us with a chicken, potatoes, salad ,cheese and perfectly ripe fruit and local wine -heaven.I tried all week to buy a mixed salad that good ! We celebrated our wedding anniversary whilst we were there .I could not imagine any spot more perfect for us and we will always remember it . We would like to thank the owners for opening up their exquisite home to us and hope to return in the near future.
