An artist’s retreat and a designer’s dream, this home is adorned with a soothing color scheme, original hardwood floors, 10 foot ceilings, sprawling rooms and interesting folk-art. Located in the historic Carolina Heights neighborhood, our home is less than 1 mile to the heart of historic downtown Wilmington, 7 miles to Wrightsville Beach and within a short distance to everything that Wilmington has to offer.
Upon entering the home, walk through the sun-soaked foyer to begin your tour of this unique bungalow which features a spacious living area, over-sized windows and a cohesive layout of rooms. A state of the art bright and open cook’s kitchen with high, embossed tin ceilings is stocked with every utensil needed for a holiday meal or a pool party barbeque.
The kitchen opens into a butler’s pantry and breakfast nook at one end and a custom sun porch at the other with access to the patio and pool. This home is also equipped with a formal dining room walled with built-ins, a music studio/den (complete with piano), a giant sleeping porch, 2 gas log working fireplaces and much, much, more. There are 5 fully furnished bedrooms, which include a Master bedroom on each floor (one with a private entrance to the patio overlooking the backyard pool area). Two and a half bathrooms, including one with a steam shower, complete this hidden treasure.
Our backyard has a privacy fence for your comfort, so wake up in the morning and enjoy a refreshing swim, or just open the doors that lead to the patio and let the sunlight, fresh air and Zen-like feel fill your day.

For the second time in the past six months, my family and I had a great stay. The location is central to so many things and in particular love walking for a coffee at near by Port City Java each morning. From the pool, kitchen, art work etc, it is a superb property and feels very comfortable. I look forward to visiting again very soon.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your great review! Your feedback is very important to us and to other travellers looking for nice places to stay in the Wilmington area. Please keep us in mind on your future visits to the area. If we don't have this particular property available, I'm sure that we have another which your family will enjoy. Cheers! Joan

From the first moment we walked into this home we were taken with its charm and personality. We booked at the last minute so we were delighted to find such a reasonably priced house available to us. We were 8 adults and 3 children and felt there was room enough for us all. We especially enjoyed the pool! The adults loved it as much as the kids, as they were able to take a late-night swim when the little ones were in bed. We'd definitely like to come back!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

A number of things were not as advertised: 1) NO DVD player - Although the broker offered to buy 1 & have it installed. There is NO sauna! 2) Central air didn't work properly, I would set it to 72, & within 45 minutes the "set" temp would change itself back to 77 or higher. The house never was cool. 3) Toaster was broken 4) Some of the linens were either dirty or stained?? Also the none of the beds were made, simply linens left folded on the beds for us to put on the bed. 1 bed had king sheets for a queen bed. 5) House had a musty odor, couch was dingy, appeared to need a good upholstery cleaning. 6) Pool bottom was dirty - although broker said pool boy was coming the day we left, but by 3:30 PM we had not seen him. 7) COCKROACHES!!!! Broker, said this property has always had trouble with them, because of the pool. We spotted them throughout the house! That ALONE makes the house UNRENTABLE & UNSANITARY! Health Dept wouldn't a restaurant nor motel to operate in such conditions! Exterminator was called out, but treated with chemicals, that were harmful to our dog! If the problem was known, it should have been fixed before it was rented! 8) Lastly & most disturbing was the attitude of the broker herself! My brother & I went to meet her in person, which he had already done previously & I had several emails with her. We told her of our dissatisfaction, & that we would be leaving the property, she response was "contract" stipulates, there's no refund unless the property is re-rented! Yet, obviously the contract was breached on their behalf! The next day, she spoke with my brother again, and she told him that he brought HIS POSSE with him! As if, my brother & I were some "gang", we both are very clean cut looking. We moved out in 24 hours, after planning to stay 7 days. This is clearly shows the lack of communication & people skills! We "settled" for appox 75% return! When we clearly feel we were due a FULL REFUND! We spoke to the broker daily over the next 4-5 days, she was usually stand off-ish. And apparently unable or unwilling to see that we stayed 1 very unhappy, & RESTLESS night, & that they were in Breach of the Contract, on several matters! Somehow her &/or the owners of the property thinks this equates to us paying over 25%! Clearly not customer friendly, nor fair! Really, dealing with HER the entire week of our vacation, & having to switch to a hotel, made for a very frustrating, trying, & stressful vacationOwner response: This is a much delayed response. Unfortuunately we have tried to respond through vrbo twice in the past never to have the response posted. I am very sorry for the dissatifaction experience by this traveller. The HVAC system was brand new at the time of the guest's stay and we called the service tech. and no inefficiences were found. The pool had been serviced the day prior to the guest's arrival and was clean however there was rain and wind the night of the guet's arrival and leaves were blown into the pool. The pool was subsequently serviced again the next day. Palmetto bugs are native to this area and unfortunately show up in greater abundance during rain. There was a palmetto bug in the house that the guest pointed out to me. We had the property scheduled for quarterly service, we have since increased this to monthly and have not had any complaints. As for the complaint in service, I can only say that I am sorry that the guest had this impression. I attempted to address every complaint and request that was made. I am certainly disappointed and sorry that your experience was unpleasant.

We have just spent a week at this lovely home while celebrating my great nephews first birthday. the house is in a perfect location on an end lot on a quiet street. Close to the downtown histioric district, a perfect place to use as a base to explore Wilmington. Clean and well maintained, the property was everything we had expected. Unfortunately the weather did not allow us the opportunity to use the pool but the deck and patio were perfect for our cookout and birthday party. Port City Java and Carolina Farmin' are within walking distance and Market St. offers easy availability to any shopping you might need. I would absolutely recommend this property for anyone visiting Wilmington. One word of warning - once you settle in you might not want to leave!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+.

My family and I were lucky enough to stay in this amazing home when it first came on the market in June. We can not say enough about this beautiful and unique home. It was filled with so much character, and it was HUGE! There was so much room in this home, that no one ever got on anybody's nerves! Now that is a real treat for a family vacation. The art work is amazing, and the pool and hot tub are divine. The neighborhood was very quiet and we can not wait to book another week at this great place.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+.
