Accommodations were exactly as explained in the description. The pictures made it all seem familiar upon arrival; however, the rental was a tad older than expected and I believe it is actually in Hau'ula, not Laie. It was well maintained and stocked with everything you need from kitchen items to beach gear. Parking was a bit tight (as with the entire state), but seemed to work.

Perfect location to get-away from it all but close enough to enjoy many of our favorite beaches and local food. Greg has taken special care to provide all the amenities contributing to the ambiance of this clean and well maintained cottage. It is literally a very short walk to the beach - where we observed the beautiful sunrise every morning of our stay. Koko'lolio Beach Park is also close (was nearly deserted during our stay - we felt we had the entire large stretch of beach to ourselves). Thanks again Greg - we'll return soon.

The cottage is very conveniently located just a few houses off of a nice stretch of beach and within 20 min drive of many gorgeous beaches. Boogie boards look great, though we didn't use them. It has a very nicely stocked kitchen: a nice variety of pot/pan sizes and shapes, a few cutting boards, dish detergent and several cooking basics such as oil, vinegar and shoyu. The bath was also nicely stocked with supplies, though strangely there were only 3 bath towels. That left us doing laundry a couple of times. The cottage is very near the highway, so traffic is LOUD, beginning around 5am - not a problem if you keep the windows closed. There was one maintenance incident that was resolved in minutes via text to owner (a GFI outlet broke circuit, resulting in loss of power on one wall-was reset with one simple click). My one complaint is lack of wi-fi. There was no reliable service in the cottage. I saw this in previous reviews (7/1/11 review), where it was noted by owner, but nothing has been done to remedy this. Our own email conversation about the problem was dropped by the owner. I had my iPhone and could survive but would not have brought a laptop had I known this. A wireless repeater is an inexpensive purchase that could remedy this.
Owner response:Hi Nita. Mahalo for letting me know about the bath towels and for reminding me about the WiFi signal. I purchased a longer range N dual band wireless router after receiving your email and will be installing it this week. The guy at Office Depot said it will work much better. Aloha, Greg

Had a great time, house was very nice and clean. Plus, -Close to North Shore (Polynesian Cultural Center, Waimea falls, etc) -Grocery Store across the street -Very quite -1 Minute walk from beach -Fully equip kitchen -Near 'Shrimp Trucks' along north shore -Nice big beautiful shower Negatives -WiFi signal very weak/poor -It is about any hour drive into Honolulu (Pearl Harbor, swap meet etc) so get up early to beat traffic. It is a beautiful drive though. Overall -Would do it again.Great area, beautiful. Had a great time.

The bungalow was in a great location to explore the rest of the island and we enjoyed how quiet it was, and such a lovely drive to get there from Honolulu. The best feature was the rear entrance to the shower so we didn't get sand everywhere. We loved having the beach so close and watched the sun rise one morning. Having snorkel gear, beach mats, towels, etc was a huge help, as was body wash and shampoo/conditioner--so nice to not have to pack those. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast each day, and we appreciated having the grill for making dinner. The washer/dryer was a big plus too. The only small issue was that the internet was weak in the house, and unfortunately we had to check work e-mails a few times which didn't work out so well when it was raining (we could only get internet on the deck). I guess that's what we get for trying to work on vacation! :) Greg was extremely fast in answering all e-mails. Thanks for sharing your place with us!
Owner response:Thanks Guys. I'm glad everything worked out well for you and that you were happy with the bungalow. Sounds like I need a new wireless router or a gain antenna to increase the internet signal at the bungalow....Mahalo for letting me know.

Owner response:Hi Sean. I'm glad you had a relaxing week and sorry that I couldn't meet you there when you arrived at 10:30pm. It was just a little too late for me that night. It was nice to meet your family the next morning though. Have a great summer and hope to host you again sometime. Aloha, Greg

My husband and I were looking for a quiet comfortable charming little place to stay while in Hawai'i during our 10 year anniversary trip. This was the place! We loved everything about it. We especially enjoyed the patio late in the evening. I even walked alone to the grocery store at about 10pm and felt perfectly safe. It was the perfect place to stay as we explored the entire island. We circled the island 4 times in almost 4 days. We loved not having to stay in Honolulu as we were not as impressed with the city as we were with the gorgeous countryside. We highly recommend any tours at Kualoa Ranch and the beaches just north of Laie were so quiet and the other people on the beach were very very friendly. We loved the proximity to the PCC and the University where my husband had attending 12 years ago. It felt like being home for him. Also... this place is across the street from the bus stop which stops fairly often. Thanks Greg! You have done a wonderful job on this place! I especially love the green paint on the bungalow and the large shower!!!!
Owner response:You're very welcome Maggie! See ya next time..... Aloha & Mahalo, Greg

We intentionally chose north shore in order to avoid crowds and commercialism of Waikiki. It was purely chance, however, that we selected this particular rental on the north shore. The rental gods must have been smiling on us because it proved to be perfect. Safe and quiet, it's the ideal place for a couple: all the amenities, comfortable bed & furniture, sufficiently roomy yet compact enough to be easily maintainable if staying for a longer time. (We were here for 12 days). People in the area are friendly and courteous, especially drivers on the Kam Highway and in the towns along the coast. Laie is a great location: quiet, small town atmosphere but close enough to the "big lights" so that it's not a big deal to go check out the night life if you so wish. We did spend one night in our car, up the hill from the beach, as we waited out the tsunami warning...wonder if we should approach Greg re a refund for the night we didn't get to sleep in the bed??

This place is adorable. It was the perfect size for a couple and had a private cozy feeling to it. Just a stroll down the road we had a private beach where we never saw more than a handful of people. (And if we did see people they nearly all smiled and greeted us with a friendly aloha). The bungalow had everything we needed and more - including raincoats, menus, reading material, and kitchen gear. Completely clean and well maintained. In walking distance is a market. Honolulu was about a 45 minute drive so no problem to go in to the city for the day. Far exceeded my expectations and I have already recommended it to several friends and family members!

It was my first time to Hawaii and we came to the North shore because we wanted the relaxed atmosphere away from the hotels of Honolulu. The bungalow was quiet and perfect for what we wanted. I can't believe how many stars we could see at night! The neighbors we passed as we walked down to the beach were all friendly and the grocery store is literally a 3 minute walk, if that. I went running on the beach and it absolutely a stunning beach. It is not a private beach, but you would think it was with the amount of people on it, since we would practically have it to ourselves each time. The bungalow is stocked with everything you need, and we made salads and sandwiches and ate in frequently. THere is a Starbucks that is in the town of North Shore so we would drive there every morning and then sit on the beach drinking our coffee and watching the North Shore surfers. The only small thing is the wireless internet, the signal is weak, but we had wi-fi with us, but Sprint had a weak signal there as well, so plan on being a bit unplugged or going into town for cell and wi-fi service. I want to keep this place a secret so we can rent it as we have decided to come to Hawaii every year now, but Greg is such an awesome landlord he must be praised. I have nothing but good things to say about him. If you are considering another rental and this one, defo pick this one, you will not have any complaints.!!!!!
Owner response:I'm glad you had a great time at the Beach Lane Bungalow and thanks for letting me know about the wireless signal. It seems that different laptops and cell phones pickup the wireless signals in different strengths. I'll definitly look into boosting the wireless range permanently at the bungalow so all guests will have uninterupted service. Mahalo, Greg

Couldn't have asked for much more. This little bungalow was well maintained, very convenient, and was well stocked with ordinary items that a traveler could easily forget, or would be to troublesome to pack. Things like the cooler, rice cooker, iron and ironing board was very convenient and appreciated. You seemed to have thought of practically everything down to the bottle opener on the front porch by the steps. Visitors thought the place was charming, and people have asked for contact information for their family in the future. The shopping center just down the street was also very convenient, and walking to the market to shop was nice. Did have a little trouble with the WiFi, but not having it was relaxing. Could have used a sharp knife and a real cutting board. All in all, we had a great time. Thank you.
Owner response:Mahalo Glenn for the review and I'm glad you were happy with the bungalow. I apreciate the feedback on everything and will look into the WiFi issue and replace the knives and cutting board. Aloha.

We loved our visit to the bungalow. It was clean, well-stocked, and well-maintained. It was wonderful to have a private, comfortable place to relax after busy days. The grounds were beautiful and lush - including a little fish pond. We enjoyed the beach - early morning sunrises, late night strolls, and the visit of a lounging seal our last morning there. Close to the Polynesian Cultural Center, Macademia Nut Farm, North Shore, LDS temple, and many beaches. We would definitely return again. Thank you, Greg, for your hospitality!

We are from Germany and we spent 3 weeks in may at this cozy private bungalow and we enjoyed our eveningsat the nice lanai with this perfect gas bbq loking into the nice little garden with two big palm trees. The bungalow had all we needed, a well equipped kitchen, a spacy shower!, a cozy bed an a lot of beach equipment. Just steps away there is one of the nices beaches all over Oahu. It's good for a morning walk and save swimmig an snorkeling. And the beach is not very crowded and quiet. It's a good spot to explore the island away from busy Honolulu. In the morning and evening You can hear the sound of the highway because the neigbourhood is very quiet. We enjoyed our holidays and we will come back. The bungalow is worth the money and Greg is very nice and helpful.

The bungalow is clean, attractive, private and close to an almost deserted sandy beach. Despite stormy (but warm) December weather, we hiked in the nearby hills, swam in the sea and pottered around the towns along the coast. This is probably as close to an atypical but still comfortable tourist holiday as you can find on Oahu.

This intimate bungalow was in a quiet little neighborhood and so close to the beach. Greg thought of everything when it came to stocking this house. We used the beach mats and the beach towels. We used the cooler to bring lunch and snacks to the greatest free snorkeling location, Shark's Cove (much better than paying for those expensive tours). The house was a great central location to driving north to Haleiwa or south to Kailua. It was cozy, pleasant and we had an absolutely wonderful stay at the bungalow. Thank you so much, Greg! The Beach Bungalow was EXACTLY what we were looking for. Literally steps down to the beach, a very very quiet location, all the amenities of home and MORE really, AND the kicker here is the daily rate is cheaper than almost any hotel! If you're looking for a home base while exploring the island, or just to get away from the daily grind, this is the perfect place, really. We absolutely recommend this to anyone we know that may be visiting Oahu, and don't want to stay in the busy city. Also, we're Lost fanatics (ABC TV show), and we wanted to see filming locations, and this was pretty much right in the middle of many of the locations. Highly highly recommend!!! Thank you Greg!!!

The Beach Bungalow was set up perfectly with all the cooking utensils, beach gear and laundry facilities (very important!) we needed. We came with our 4-year-old son who slept on the couch. We'd probably opt for a larger place next time but for a couple the Bungalow is perfect. It's a short walk down the lane to the beach. You have to be prepared to really live like a local and not a tourist, though. On the N. Shore of the island you will see that not all is slick and glamorous. It's seriously rural and homes, yards and business show that. It will take you a while to find the nearest Starbucks - - but there is one about 15 minutes away in a large grocery store called Foodland. Who cares about Starbucks, right? Just so you know, though, the most outrageous snorkeling is directly across from that grocery store. It's something you must do. It's perfect for children too -- lots of shallow, tidepool like snorkeling with incredible fish and even turtles. It rained a lot when we visited but even with the rain we had a great trip and want to come back.

We were very comfortable during the week with everything we wanted to do vacation-wise right at our fingertips. It worked out well for my business as most of clients are local farmers. The bungalow worked very well for us during our two week stay. How enjoyable was the languid living of the country side of Oahu!. The early monring walks on the beach were splendid. In fact, from its south end, the curve of Kokolillu and Mahakea Beaches reminded of of early photos of Waikiki before it was a high rise haven. Thanks, Greg, for a great two weeks.

It was nice to feel like a local and not a tourist. We drove down to Honolulu and did what we wanted during the day, but the freeway traffic was terrible and it was so nice to get on the highway, go through the tunnel and drive "home" to the bungalow and walk the beach each night. We would highly recommend staying up at the north shore for anyone visiting Oahu and leave the city behind. The bungalow is set up with everything you need. The air conditioner was great and the washer and dryer came in handy. Thanks Greg. We hope to come back.

The cottage was even cuter and more spacious than the pictures here indicate, and everything was in perfect condition. Greg was super, meeting us a bit later in the evening than we expected after a delayed flight. Onsite laundry facilities and an outdoor shower made beach clean-up super-easy. Nice, quiet location, convenient to great beaches, Honolulu, and more. Almost hate to rave too much, lest the cottage be booked when we plan our next trip!
