My husband and I had a lovely mini holiday staying in this cottage. It was clean, bright and had a gorgeous view. The views from the master suite made it difficult to get out of bed!. The kitchen is small but very functional and all the amenities are provided. We ate breakfasts and dinners at the cottage as we couldn't think of a place that had a better view! My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.

A stunning location to use as a base for outdoor adventures nearby, visiting nainimo and victoria and other lovely cities and towns or head a little north to find peace and wilderness. Or just rela at the house and drink in the beautiful view and watch the plentiful wildlife, we saw sea lions, eagles, 2 whales and countless deer.

We spent 6 days at this cottage. The place was very clean, with quality linens throughout. the kitchen was well stocked and it was easy to "move right in" and relax! The deck was amazing and we made use of a telescope to watch passing cruise ships! One day we even saw 2 orcas! The steps leading down to the water were well built and maintained. We also enjoyed the gas fireplace in the evenings. it was a great place to stay and highly recommend it to those looking to get away and enjoy the ocean!

We had a lovely week at Dolphin Bay cottage and can happily recommend this property as a great place to spend a week on central Vancouver Island. As a family with teenagers we mainly used the property to kick back and relax. It is very comfortable, clean and well cared for. The location is great with beautiful views over the bay. One morning we were fascinated to watch a family of sea otters fishing and eating on the rocks, whilst being buzzed by bald eagles. The telescope provides excellent viewing possibilities and other wildlife we saw included seals, herons and deer. The house is centrally located about 10 minutes from the Island Highway, providing many short sightseeing opportunities around the area. We were seldom aware of any traffic on the road at the back of the house or noise from the neighbours. The deck is sheltered by trees and feels very private. We have no hesitation in recommending this property as a vacation rental.

Definitely choose this cottage for your stay if you're thinking of spending some quality time in the Nanoose/Parksville area and want to unwind and enjoy some fantastic scenery! Although the pictures contained in the listing are wonderful, the second you walk in the door you will still have a "wow" moment and be thoroughly impressed by the gorgeous oceanfront view and the lovely layout of this cottage. The sundeck is enormous with lots of room for entertaining, so plan on spending some time dining outside and gazing out over the water or playing down on the beach.. There are so many things to see from this property including the many eagles, resident blue Heron, seals, hawks, geese and not to mention the beautiful deer that visit as well as neighbourhing areas within view. You will definitely capture many National Geographic moments during your stay! Great fun and educational too :) All of the beds are very comfortable and the decor is tastefully done throughout with character, with the spacious master bedroom having an updated and beautifully done ensuite complete with a huge soaker tub overlooking Dolphin Bay! The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to make your stay complete with all the comforts of home, and it is also a terrific central location if you're up for sightseeing. If you're like us, you'll love taking your time driving through the area and seeing the other lovely homes that surround Nanoose and area. If you're a golfer, Fairwinds is just around the corner so bring your clubs! Boating? Fairwinds Marina is only moments away up the road and around the other corner.. To make your choice even easier, the owner is a pleasure to deal with, and is very accommodating, right from opening communications to the end of your stay. Thanks again for having us - It was our privilege to have been your guest and we hope to be back often! Cheers!

Karin we loved the place, mostly we love the big windows facing the ocean. Love the little nook bed (beau slept there). We had trouble find the place, but that was only because I had the directions on my cell phone, and it died! My only suggestions to make it better were that for kids, there could have been a few toys, and a lot of the ornaments were fragile on the main floor so we had to move a lot of stuff. But those are small comments. It was well appointed in the kitchen which we liked. For what we were looking for it was great. Only other thing I can think of is that the directions to start the fire place seemed wrong and we had to sort it out ourselves.

We stayed for one week in this really fantastic house. There are incredible views from the deck. We spent many hours on the deck enjoying the scenery and watching various wildlife (otters, seals, bald eagles, herons). The house itself is very charming, with many windows with amazing views. The location is terrific as well, close to beaches, hikes, farmers markets, and mountains. It's a wonderful place to stay for a week or more.

Our family had an amazing time and were not at all interested in leaving. Highly recommend the Little Qualicum Cheeseworks and Mooberry Winery. Not far away at all and worth it for even just the cheese samples! wonderful fruit wines as well. I recommend doing a fishing charter if you can fit it in, we loved it! North Island Animal Rehabilitation is nearby and inexpensive. The exhibits and information there are interesting for everyone. The house itself was charming and the views were outstanding, we saw deer, blue heron, eagles, porpoises, otters, seal and even whales! Quiet and peaceful with a great deck for hanging out on. It is worth driving a few miles to town to stay in such a nice place. The pictures truly reflect the house and the owners are great to deal with. My niece loved having her loft. The master bedroom is amazing and you could just look out all those windows for hours! The kitchen was well stocked and we ate all but one dinner in. The deck is amazing and big, lots of comfy chairs too. Having the chest of games was a nice thing, we didn't have time to play any but thought about it a few times and would come in very useful in bad weather! Highly recommend it to any family looking for a home away from home, or anyone wanting to just get away from it all.

We LOVED this property!! We travelled here with our 2 year old daughter who named the cottage "The Ocean House". The cottage had all the charm it promised plus more. Everything was provided which was nice while travelling with little ones (we had enough to carry!!). There was easy access to the ocean to search for shells and little pretty stones as well as play in the tide pools. We found the place without trouble and found it simple to get to and from LOTS of tourist attractions. There was also access to groceries and even big box stores if like us you forget something that you can't live without! We also LOVED being visited by the little deer, the blue heron and the bald eagle across the bay. Great learning fun for the kids!! Next time we'll add another to the trip (our second baby) as we know there is plenty of room and we would even think of asking the grandparents along as the loft room would keep them from having to hear babies crying in night. The washer and dryer came in handy, especially after visiting the beach. And it was a nice touch that some sand toys and kids chairs were provided. Thanks for the awesome no worry vacation at a very special place. It was nice to not have to worry about anything and just be able to sit on the beautiful deck and relax while my family played and relaxed too. We will return, that's a promise!!

We had a lovely getaway here in March. The cottage has been Beautifully renovated recently with a gorgeous master bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The other bedroom is very roomy, and the loft and smaller bedroom downstairs are great for kids. Lovely cozy fireplace and great view from the deck; also there's a telescope for birdwatching and looking for sealife! Walk down the steps outside to a quiet beach area; you wake up to the sound of waves from the master suite! Well stocked with games for the family on those quiet nights in. Golfing REALLY close by, and driving to Parksville and Nanaimo and beyond is easy. Highly recommended-we'll be back!

This cottage and location was exactly what we wanted for the week leading up to Christmas. The home was clean and cozy with a fabulous fireplace. The master bedroom was beyond expectations with a stunning view. On the first day alone we saw three bald eagles fly over the house. Groceries, gas, video rental and shopping all within fifteen minutes. We look forward to being able to come back for a visit. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

The cottage is extremely comfortable, clean, well-equipped and great for relaxing regardless of the weather, although we had no significant rain during our stay in August. Bedrooms are spacious. The master features wall to wall windows (facing the water) and a jacuzzi tub. The best views we saw in Nanoose Bay were from the cottage deck! Seals, sea lions and eagles are readily visible, as are cruise ships and sailboat races at the nearby Schooner Cove Marina. Access to the beach was easy. We found lots to do and see in the area, including nearby golf at Fairwinds, shopping and sightseeing in Qualicum Beach, and taking in the many festivals in communities along the ocean between Nanaimo and Comox. The owner answered all our questions and provided lots of information and advice that greatly enhanced our stay. Overall this rental was exceptional value. We have recommended this cottage to friends and would definitely go back again.

We stayed at the cottage from Jul. 31- Aug. 8, 2010. In total there were 7 adults and our 19 mo old daughter. We had plenty of room, the sleeping arrangements worked out perfectly- our daughter slept in the walk in closet in the master (it is big enough to fit her play pen and more). The property was clean and well maintained. The location is amazing- so close to Parksville and Nanaimo and just steps to the ocean. The view from the large deck is stunning. We did small day trips to various attractions- the Cathedral Grove, Parksville Farmer's Market, Parksville Community Park, Nanaimo Aquatic Center, Nanaimo Jumpin Jiminy's Indoor Play Center and a few beaches nearby. We also cooked all our meals in, and relaxed in the peaceful surroundings. I would definitely recommend this property for an awesome vacation! One thing I wished I would have done is rent kayaks- the bay is perfect for this activity...next time!

We stayed in this charming cottage for a week in July. The setting and view were amazing. The cottage was very clean and very well stocked. The beds were comfortable and it was easy to get a great nights sleep listening to the waves on the beach. When the tide goes out there are purple and red star fish and all sorts of other life in the rocks. We brought our paddle board and went out on the water everyday. Overall we loved it. We saw wildlife everyday, tons of Deer. Don't forget to hit the Marina on Friday to buy live crab. Great family getaway, we will be back for sure!

Lucky us - we live close enough to have stayed at Dolphin Cottage several times over the last 6 months! The moment you step through the front door, the 2 story windows provide expansive views of the ever-changing Georgia Strait. The comfortable furnishings and seaside decor create a style that is both charming and calming. The cottage is very clean and fresh and well-maintained. It has all the amenities of home so you have the choice of staying in and enjoying all that the cottage and location have to offer. If you want to go out for a change of pace, there are several golf courses in teh immediate area, many natural areas to explore as well as several choices within a 15 minute drive that offer everything from authentic pub food to fine dining. The owners are hospitable and have made the extra effort to ensure that you have a most relaxing and memorable vacation at Dolphin Cottage.
