We LOVED this cottage, and look forward to staying here again someday. The location is a great jumping-off point for exploring the Maine coast, convenient to Camden but totally secluded (great stargazing). The views just can't be beat and we enjoyed walking right down to the beach. If we had more time, we would have done lots of hiking right down the street at Camden Hills State Park. We LOVE the hand-tiled and stone shower with the porthole looking out to the ocean! The open floor plan didn't detract from our enjoyment, but we thought should have been made clearer what that meant. Even though it has two bedrooms, the ceilings are all open to each other and the living area, which means that there is no privacy at all for conversation, watching tv, listening to the radio, etc. - you need to really get along (which we do). The bathroom has a separate ceiling but with no wall insulation that doesn't really add any privacy either. Again, this didn't detract from our stay, just think it shouldn't be a surprise for anyone.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Correction: Fresh Off The Farm for beautiful organic produce and Market Basket for great take-out. Both a short drive on US 1 south of Camden near Maine Hwy 90.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Very charming, well equipped seaside cottage in perfect location, minutes from beautiful Camden. Comfy beds, homey north woods decor with quaint vintage furnishings. Meals on the deck watching lobster boats pull in their catch, gorgeous schooners. Grocery shopping (wonderful organic produce at "Market Basket") is a dream plus many great restaurants (bring home yummy clam chowder and potato-onion bread from Cappy's). So much to do and see. Picnic on Mt. Battie or Beech Hill (directions from useful Visitor Info at public landing) for beautiful views of the bay. Owner's "Welcome Book" comprehensive, detailed, very helpful. . September great time to visit, minimal to no insects. Like to cook? Bring your lobster, clam, mussel recipes.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Thank you for the wonderful time we spent at Penobscot Cottage in Camden, ME. We so enjoyed the ambiance of the cottage that we ended up staying there much more than we thought we might. The fresh salt air, the lap of the waves, the gong of the buoy, and the cry of the seabirds were such a joy to hear. We found crabs in the tidal pool, a hummingbird visiting the flowers on your deck, a deer and her doe along the road to the cottage, and what we believe might have been a bald eagle fishing just off the nearby shoreline. Seeing the schooners and lobster boats virtually every day against such a beautiful panorama was always a treat, and seeing them from the special shower porthole was always fun. We enjoyed lobster dinners and cooking on the grill. We drove to the top of Mt. Battie and saw a hawk gliding over the mountain sides. We visited some of Camden's shops and enjoyed walking along Camden Harbor. In short, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your wonderful cottage.Did you find this review helpful? I dearly loved my stay in your cottage. Camden is a lovely village and I enjoyed the shops, the deli and bakery. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I already miss the sounds of the ocean crashing against the rocks, the sounds of the foghorn and bell. Also the smell and serenity I felt there can't be duplicated anywhere else. Such a blessing for me that I came across your website.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 8/8
