Lancaster townhome description
This brand new town home is in the heart of stoudtburg village.
Inspired by medieval European towns, Stoudtburg Village was the brainchild of Adams town entrepreneur Edward D. Stoudt, whose businesses include Stoudt’s Black Angus Restaurant and Stoudt’s Brewing Co.
In 1994, following one of his many trips to Europe, Stoudt decided to build a German hamlet where shopkeepers could live and operate businesses all in one quaint place.
“It’s as things were in the old days, when there were mom-and-pop stores and the family lived above the shop,” Stoudt said. “Europe is still that way.”
Established in 1996, the privately owned village is comprised of 42 Old World-style buildings which feature shops — usually about 400 square feet — on the first floor, topped by 1,800 square feet of modern living space on the second and third floors. A two-car garage is in the back of each structure.
Stoudtburg Village has become a destination in itself. There are more than 20 businesses, including art galleries, a wine shop, gift shops, boutiques, a hair salon, an old-fashioned sweet shop, an authentic English tea room and — the hub of the village — a coffee shop.

This place was a great find for our getaway to meet with family. The home was very comfortable and allowed for some nice together time we would not have had otherwise at a hotel. The unique setting was an added bonus. Spending time in the village and adjacent antique shops added a very pleasant addition to our trip. One of the main attractions for us is in the area is the Site and Sound Theater in Lancaster. This is a very easy ride from the Stoudtburg village. You can take the highway or a nice country drive between the two locations. I would recommend a dive we took back from Lancaster by way of the Shady Maple Smorgasbord in East Earl. Not only did we have a nice drive through some Pennsylvania Dutch farmland, but we had more than our fill at the Shady Maple (this place is an experience in itself). It was a great time made all the better by our stay at Carolyn’s home.

My husband and I had a pleasant stay in the Cornucopia with my daughter, son-in-law and 2 small grandsons. The house was clean and comfortable. The village was quiet and so quaint. A few things for people to think about if they stay at the Cornucopia..... There is a TV but it's not hooked into cable. So bring movies, videos etc. With my 4 year old grandson this would have been useful advice. There was no activity for him and that was something we needed to consider. There are two sets of steps but only 1 portable gate to block the steps. My 10 month old grandson was crawling around and we were very cautious about him going near the stairs. The shops aren't always open. We wanted to do some shopping when we arrived on Saturday and quite a few of the stores were closed. Luckily there were many books and some games at the townhouse which helped bring fun to our stay. We played a lot of dominos and yahtzee to fill the time. So, plan on a very restful stay and come prepared.

Excellent alternative to a hotel
Excellent alternative to a hotel
The townhouse was a perfect option for us, as we needed space for our family, the bridal party and our pets. The space was very clean and inviting. Be advised that you have 2 sets of stairs for this property. The little village of Stoudtburg is an ideal setting for a wedding. The shops are cute also and have some unique items.

Owner needs to review comments from previous guests and take personal ownership. The cost is good value for the property and location. However in all the places we have rented, even Bed and Breakfasts, they did not require us to make our beds upon arrival and they also provide hangers to hang our cloths. The listing was accurate regarding the location. However the property was not clean nor well maintained. For example you pickup a dinning room chair and the spinals fall out of the back rest. In the present state of the property I would not recommend this VRBO to a friend or relative.

Owner response: I am heartily grieved with my guests dissapointment. I take all criticism and reviews to heart and do my best to rectify. I have a trustworthy cleaning crew who clean top to bottom after each guest leaves. I hope all the positive reviews will out weigh the not so positive. I am happy they saw it as a good value for the location.
Very good accommodations; however, there was not connection to the outside world. If you want to relax at the end of the day to ESPN or even the local news, it is not happening. No Wifi. If these items are not necessary, it is a great place to get away.

Charming Village Townhouse
Charming Village Townhouse
An excellent value, clean and comfy, spacious and accommodating. A great place to get-away from stresses of life, don't expect wi-fi or cable. We found it conveniently located to Sight & Sound Theater, Hershey, and Shady Maple Smorgasbord, in addition to Lancaster, all places we recommend visiting. Be sure to plan ahead with Sight & Sound Theater productions as they do sell out! We enjoyed the upstairs bath with Jacuzzi jets. We read a review that made the bath sound confusing, just get in, close up the door, fill it up and turn on the jets. I'm about 6 ft. tall and I was able to submerge. Water was good and hot, even after two others bathed. We were a bit confused about taking out the trash, no can in garage, after including $90.00 cleaning fee, but Carolyn was kind and gracious over the phone. We do recommend others to stay, the majority of Village shops are open only Thursday-Sunday so its very quiet early week. We'd like to stay again.

Home Away From Home
Home Away From Home
This was a great place to stay for my family with children. Plenty of space. Very relaxing. The kitchen was so well equipped with everything you could ever need. It was like a home away from home. Very cute village and shops.

Great little place
Great little place
My (now) wife and some of her bridesmaids stayed there the Friday night before our wedding at Stoudt's Black Angus. This worked great as there was plenty of space and it was quite convenient for the next day. We also had it Saturday night so the gorls could leave their things until Sunday morning. The apartment was very nice and the owner and property manager were great to work with.

Pleasant, Quiet, and Fun!
Pleasant, Quiet, and Fun!
This is a delightfully quirky house, comfortable and homey... a great place for 3 old girlfriends to reunite! Conveniently located close to the PA Turnpike for easy access to Philadelphia or Harrisburg, and close to Lancaster and Reading. There are so many options for things to do in this area. Three bedrooms worked well for us, although sleeping was difficult due to the excessive light from streetlights right outside our windows (there are either no window coverings, or the ones that are there are tissue-paper thin). Bring some sort of eye covering if you mind a well-lit room at night. A gas fireplace adds a cozy touch, and the full kitchen is great for saving money. There is one very nice full bath downstairs, and a full bath upstairs with an odd seated shower/hot tub sort of thing that does not have a shower curtain. All three of us used the downstairs bath for showers, and that held us up just a little bit, but that was ok because we weren't in much of a hurry :). The house was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and perusing the shops at Stoudtburg Village on Sunday before we left was an added bonus! The caretaker, Brian, is such a pleasant and helpful person! Overall, a wonderful experience that I would have given an "excellent" rating to, if not for the issue with the overly-lit bedrooms. I would definitely recommend this house to friends! As someone who lives locally, it was especially fun to get the chance to see my hometown from tourist's eyes. Thank you for a fabulous weekend!
