This property is well located; grocery, frozen yogurt place and coffee shop nearby, excellent access to major attractions, in an attractive quiet community. The three bedrooms are quite large and the beds are comfortable. It does indeed have a hot tub and pool in the back yard, although we didn't use these. If there were a washer and dryer, I didn't see them. They might have been in the garage, which we didn't use. This is an older house, though, and needs some work - the kitchen is small and minimally equipped with dishes, no dishwasher, old gas stove without thermostat; the finish on the bottom of the bathtub is worn off/rusted; heat is with one ancient heater in the living room that is either on or off... that sort of thing. You wouldn't want to stay here if you had small children who need to bathe rather than shower, or if you want to eat in and have more than four people. Our major problem, though, was that this house smelled awful. It was like a combination of Raid and cigarette smoke. The first night we had to open every window and door for several hours just to make it bearable. The smell got better over the three days but was still there when we left. It was difficult for my asthmatic daughter. I suspect that a previous tenant had smoked in the house and then someone had tried to cover it up with some sort of chemical. A suggestion for the owner also would be that some sort of written material - here's where things are in the neighborhood, here's how to turn on the heater, that sort of thing, would be helpful.Owner response: Well, the house does have a wall heater which is turned higher and lower as needed, no thermostat. This was the only issue brought to our attention during the stay. The smoke/chemical smell would have been nice to hear about prior to this review and the cleaners would have re-done the unit. We do not use any chemical smelling products and smoking is not permitted inside. The back yard/patio area is fenced with a gas barbeque and seating.

Nice house, nothing flashy, perfect for a family of four, I'd say. The two best things about the place: 1. The landlady! Michele went out of her way every time to make sure our stay was pleasant. If there was a problem, done, fixed. Needed assistance for anything else? Never a problem. That's half of the shooting match right there. 2. Location. It doesn't get better than this. Located in Point Loma, a quiet neighborhood, you can get to any place in San Diego quickly. Five minutes to the airport, maybe the same to Old Town, fifteen minutes to downtown, ten minutes to Mount Cabrillo, Ocean Beach, fifteen to Balboa Park and the Zoo. Very convenient. You can stay at flashier and more modern places, for sure, but I doubt you will get the same hospitality and convenient location. Major props, Michele.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.
