Convenience is what you get with Mabel's Cabin at L.R. Taylor's Estes Park Cabins. Mabel's is located on a hill just above the downtown of Estes Park with private steps leading to the center of town. But get away from it all on your private, covered deck and enjoy the view of Longs Peak and the mountain range. So park your car and walk to restaurants and shopping. Mabel's is also just minutes away from the famous Rocky Mountain National Park. (so enjoy all that it has to offer)
Originally built in the early 1900's by Mabel Van Hook, one of the four children of L.R. Taylor, to be her summer home and vacation spot. The cabin has been renovated to include all the modern conveniences, but still retains some of it's original charm.
Mabel's has a beautiful space outdoors to roam with trees, rock out-croppings, deer, elk and chipmunks. The elk have their own path right beside the cabin and enjoy resting under the trees.
Estes Park is the perfect vacation spot and there is something to do for everyone. You can rent this cabin year-round and enjoy the seasons of Colorado. We also have 4 other cabins next door if this one is occupied, all of which are part of LR Taylor Cabins.

What a sweet cabin in a great location! Very comfy and clean with nice bedrooms and baths, a large kitchen, and super-easy access to downtown Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park. The owner keeps the cabin stocked with plenty of info on local attractions, activities, and amenities. Quiet neighborhood perched on a hillside overlooking the town. I thought I wanted someplace in the wilderness but actually, this is a LOT easier, with fun opportunities for everyone, and wilderness is right around the corner. I enjoyed drives and hikes into the park, a day trip to Nederland, and daily morning visits to the Riverwalk (try Kind Coffee in AM, Nepal's Cafe in PM) and when I had the time I'd extend my stroll over to the lake. Great birding! We rented a boat for a hour at Lake Estes Marina and had lunch on the water. Do the Aerial Tramway-- it's a great buy and the ride is a hoot, with great views and rocks to scramble on at the top. The Estes Park Brewery is generous with beer samples! We found the local groceries to be well-stocked even at the height of the season. Great stay, I'll be back for sure!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank You, Sounds like you took advantage of a lot of what Estes and the Rocky Mountains have to offer. Look forward to having you all back !!

Everything great except the refrigerator took all week to get the dead fish smell out. Was terrible when first checked in. Rest of stay and cabin was great.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks, you did let us know and our cleaning people took care of it. Someone must have caught some trout and left it there too long. Sorry you had to endure that. Hope to see you next year.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: This cabin was sold out of the family for quite a few years. We were lucky enough to purchase it so that it is back in the family. I have been going to Estes Park for vacations since I was a toddler. I never tire of it's beauty and endless changing scenery. I hope you can build the same memories at our little heaven on earth.
Why the Owner Chose Estes Park:
Mabel's Cabin is one of 6 cabins with LR Taylor Cabins. My great, great Grandfather came to Estes in 1911 to start building his vacation home, along with his wife and 4 children. He died shortly thereafter, but his children each built their own cabin. Luckily, we were able to buy the ones that had left the family. The cabin we stay in has never left the family and has been passed on through the generations. Nell's Cabin was not in our family, but we bought it because of it's proximity. Each of the cabins has old photos of the family and Estes Park. Come enjoy the history.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This cabin has a perfect location in a private neighborhood. You can relax on the deck and enjoy the surroundings, walk downtown for food or shopping, or drive a short way to get to Rocky National Park. It is the best!
