Bella Riva East, Riverfront Custom Cabin with Mt. Views

Our Hiwassee Riverfront log cabin, Bella Riva East, is close to everything, yet located on a country road with views of the Nantahala National Forest and the Smoky Mountains. This beautifully appointed, tastefully furnished, 3 bedroom, 2 bath log home is situated within feet of the Hiwassee River in the Smoky Mountains (approximately 2 hours from Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Asheville.)
Bella Riva East is an easy drive to town, one mile from the entrance to Fire’s Creek Recreational Area, within 15 minutes of Lake Chatuge and a short drive to the Ocoee and Nantahala Rivers. There are many nearby activities that make this cabin an ideal vacation spot for the adventurer seekers. Hike up a waterfall or on one of the many trails in Fire's Creek Recreational Area, kayak the Hiwassee, take on the challenge of white water rafting at the Ocoee and Nantahala Rivers, rent a pontoon boat or ski-doo at Lake Chatuge. You may also enjoy horseback riding, golf, white water rafting, hiking, and biking.
The secluded location makes it an ideal place for those who want to just kick back and relax. Read a good book; enjoy the calming sound of the river and a crackling fire. For those of you that enjoy shopping, there are many specialty stores in town, as well as antique shops nearby.
Our cabin has an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings, rustic pine walls and floors, and a stone fireplace. Two quarter-round antique stained glass windows (circa 1880) accent the fireplace. Sliding glass doors facing the river ensure that your view is unobstructed. The fully-equipped kitchen has everything one might need for family dinners or entertaining guests. A large dining room table (seats 6) is provided, in addition to seating at the counter for four. So that you have all the comforts of home, we’ve provided satellite TV programming, a DVD/VCR, Internet accessibility, board games, puzzles, tubes (with handles), fishing rods, pool table, dart board and children’s activities.
The master bedroom downstairs has a King size, full-log bed, and has a bathroom with a large Jacuzzi tub. Upstairs, the second bedroom has a large King size bed and some of the best views of the river and the mountains. The third bedroom has built-in bunk beds – a hit with the kids, but sturdy enough to accommodate an adult. The second bathroom is conveniently located between the two upstairs bedrooms.
Just feet from the river, you can sit on the covered porch or relax on the hammock and let the river lull you to sleep. The covered porch has a latching gate to keep children and pets safely by your side. A large outdoor table with comfortable seating for 6 is perfect for dining with a view of the river or just relaxing. A professional charcoal grill is provided to grill your catch of the day! There is also plenty of fine or casual dining within minutes of the cabin.
The Hiwassee River is dam-controlled; it rises and falls without warning. When the river waters are low you may enjoy wading or swimming. When the river rises the waters move swiftly to allow for tubing and kayaking. Swimming is not suggested during this time! Fire’s Creek is nearby upstream emptying into the Hiwassee River – both teem with rainbow, brook and brown trout with some of the best fly-fishing in the mountains.
The large 1-acre lot has plenty of room to run and play. Incredible views of the changing leaves in fall, White-tail deer, Canadian Geese, and Herons are some of the wildlife you can experience without leaving the back porch. At night, enjoy the large outdoor fire pit, roast marshmallows, make s’mores or just sit and enjoy the stars with the echoing sounds of the river!

We had a wonderful time at Bella Riva East! While the pictures are accurate, the house and the property were much newer and nicer than I anticipated. It was nicely decorated, roomy, and very well maintained. There are only a few houses near this one which added to our peaceful and tranquil feeling. The river in front of the cabin seemed like our own little "beach" and we had a great time fly fishing, wading, and tubing (when the water was released from the dam). It was not too far from Murphy and Hayesville to grocery stores and shopping. We enjoyed Murphy which was a very quaint, mountain town where we enjoyed the Independence Day fireworks show. Our grown kids had a great time on the middle Ocoee River white water rafting trip and I recommend this website for information about it: ocoeeriverwhitewaterrafting.com. The owners were wonderful and answered questions promptly. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and family.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+.

What a beautiful piece of heaven! From listening to the river flowing over the bolders to the stars so bright in the black of night, I'd return again and again. The cabin is a wonderful size, very clean and well decorated. The owners couldn't be more accommodating and pleasant. Be sure to check out the farmers market, on Tuesdays, in Murphy! Cute shops in the town too! For the BEST meat at wonderful prices, check out the butcher in Hayesville.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We have just placed our mountain home on the rental market. We hope others will come and enjoy all this beautiful area has to offer. The people are friendly, genuine, and make you feel as though you have always been their neighbor. The fishing is wonderful...and only steps from the back door. We love our two labs and hope you will bring your furry friends with you when you come. It is a great place to relax or explore. There is a full acre for football games, bocce, volleyball, and children with lots of energy! Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. We want you to enjoy this paradise as much as we do! Welcome to Bella Riva!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2
