Wonderful Vacation Rental!

Guest: BestChristmasEver (New Haven, CT)
Date of Stay: 12/23/08 Review Submitted: 01/05/09

My family and I rented this cabin for Christmas 2008. We had 6 people and three dogs stay in this cabin, which worked well (it's small, but had multiple levels). We had a difficult time finding a dog-friendly rental, and this place was great for our dogs! Having never rented this property before, we were unsure of what we would find, but we fell in love at first sight. The house was welcoming, clean, and decorated for the holiday (we loved the thoughtfulness of the holiday lights and wreath on the front door!). The owner and housesitter were well organized and thoughtful. The rental process was easy, and there was plenty of information on attractions in the surrounding area left in the cabin for us. It was a lovely, cozy place to relax with loved ones. We played in 2 plus feet of snow with our dogs, snowshoed and relaxed in the hot tub. It was a perfect vacation and we look forward to renting here again.

A wonderful place in the woods

Guest: Lake Champlain Fan (Anchorage, AK)
Date of Stay: 07/15/11 Review Submitted: 10/13/11

My husband and I rented this house for three weeks during the summer and had a fabulous time there (with our two young kids and our dog). There is a great swimming hole at the edge of the property (just a short walk down the hill from the house) and a wonderful farm stand right down the road. There are also great running/mountain biking trails nearby and the amazing and delicious American Flatbread restaurant is just a few miles down the road. The house is really sweet, simple, and comfortable (also well-maintained and clean and all that other good stuff but not so fancy that you can't relax in it). Two of the bedrooms are upstairs and --because of all the surrounding trees-- have a great tree house-like feel. The third bedroom is in the finished downstairs/basement so it has no tree-views but it actually turned out to be great because it stayed the coolest during hot summer nights --and I imagine is nice and cozy in winter. The sleeping nook (along the stairwell) was a big hit with napping kids and adults alike. The owner and caretaker were incredibly nice and relaxed and helpful and, overall, this was the best vacation rental experience we've ever had. I very much hope to have a chance to return again soon.

Great base for Green Mountain Stage Race, family fun

Guest: Jim (Arlington, Virginia)
Date of Stay: 08/31/11 Review Submitted: 10/03/11

We had a great two-week stay at this lovely cottage, secluded on 50 acres above the Mad River. We're a family of bike riders, mountain and road. The Green Mountain Stage Race over Labor Day weekend was our initial focus, then we kicked-back to enjoy lovely Vermont for week two. Hiking Mount Mansfield and Appalachian Gap, mountain biking about Trapp Family Lodge, many hours riding about Mad River, relaxing in the cabin, walking the dog on the property's trails, and more. Great dining options all about, with extraordinary local produce and craft beers (don't miss American Flatbread at Lareau Farm) ... all in all, a perfect family vacation. On a mildly contrary note, our travel was delayed by the devastation of Hurricane Irene. We were grateful for our host's effort to clarify the road situation and make sure the cabin was in tip-top shape. Vermonters' resilience in response to Irene was inspiring.

Owner response:Vermont has recovered! Goodnight Irene.

Adorable home close to ski areas!

Date of Stay: 03/09/11 Review Submitted: 03/16/11

We gathered with our friends at this wonderful Warren rental for a long March ski weekend and loved it! It is the perfect size for 3 couples with 3 good sized bedrooms and a kiddie nook. The house was very charming with an open living room/kitchen making cooking and relaxing a lot of fun! Also, the house has a ton of windows and is surrounded with incredible views! The house is minutes from Sugarbush and Mad River Glen so go we didn't waste a lot of time getting to the resorts which was great! Great rental... We're definitely planning to come back! Thanks, Bryan!

Excellent cozy and isolated house

Guest: Doug (Greenport, NY)
Date of Stay: 12/28/10 Review Submitted: 01/03/11

We very much enjoyed our stay at Bryan's house. We wanted the opportunity to hike, sled, or XC ski with our dog right from the house, and this house is surrounded by miles of beautiful woods. The house itself is cozy, has a great kitchen, and a great living room for lounging, reading, watching sports, etc. The light during the day with views of the woods was terrific. The firepit was a nice addition for our New Years Eve celebration. Also very close to both Mad River Glen and Sugarbush ski areas, as well as the town of Waitsfield. Just make sure you have 4WD to get up the driveway!

We absolutely loved this home in Vermont! It was exactly as advertised, a beautiful spot, and so relaxing. Very close to the mountain for skiing, yet felt very private and isolated for relaxing afterwards in the hot tub. Hoping to return!

Fantastic Summer Getaway

Guest: Andi (Amherst, MA)
Date of Stay: 07/01/10 Review Submitted: 07/09/10

My husband, dog and I stayed here for the first 7 nights of July. We had a great time!! The setting is very private and peaceful yet close to everything you need. On the 4th of July we went to the famous Warren Parade and then returned to the house to relax around the fire pit. Our dog had an excellent time. There is a dog friendly swimming hole a short walk from the house (people can swim there too). We spent a lot of time relaxing in the hammock and swimming in the river. I'd like to come back next summer and take advantage of all the activities in the surrounding area - glider rides, mountain biking and hiking. The kitchen at the house is very well equipped but with so many great places for lunch and dinner in the area we didn't cook as much as we had expected. We had a fantastic meal at the Common Man and at Mint in Waitsfield. The Warren Store has excellent breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos. The rental process was very easy and the owner was very quick to respond to the emails I sent. When we arrived the house was spotless and the caretaker came over to introduce himself. The accommodations are very comfortable. We will be back again next summer!

A perfect Christmas in Vermont

Guest: TimvanO (Cambridge)
Date of Stay: 12/19/09 Review Submitted: 06/08/10

We had a wonderful time during Christmas. The house was perfect for our group size; four grown ups and two small children. We skied at Sugarbush, which is only 5-10 minutes or so away, we snowshoed right from the house in the surrounding woods, but also up Camels' Hump, which is a short drive away. Sledding was immensely popular; down the path at the back of the house motivated us to hold a competition with the kids who could get the furthest. And of course we spend some great cold nights with wine and cheese in the fantastic outdoor hot-tub. A close by farm supplied us with fresh organic duck, which made Christmas dinner a blast. We truly had a perfect Christmas in Vermont.

Owner response:Glad you enjoyed!

Great location perfect for a small group.

Guest: Bryan78 (Philadelphia)
Date of Stay: 03/05/09 Review Submitted: 03/24/09

We recently spent a long weekend in Sugarbush and found this house to be an ideal location for access to Warren, Waitsfield as well as the surrounding ski areas. The location is set far enough back off of RT 100 so that you still have a good sense of seclusion while being able to get to town in a few minutes by car. The accommodations are just as described and the hot tub on the back deck is a unique feature that was ready to go when we arrived on a snowy Thursday night. We had two couples in our group and found the size perfect for our numbers. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an off mountain spot in Sugarbush.

Sugarbush weekend

Guest: Happy Stayers (Boston)
Date of Stay: 01/01/08 Review Submitted: 01/24/08

This house was terrific for my group of six friends. I was a little skeptical about the advertised "2 miles to the mountain," judging from other houses I've seen posted, but it really was. We could be out the door at 8 and parked at the main lodge by 8:07. All the bedrooms are comfortable (the kid's nook isn't even all that bad), deck and hot tub were great for relaxing even in the middle of winter, and the kitchen worked well for this size group. The only tiny downside was the small living room & TV when we wanted to watch the Pats AFC championship game. But you shouldn't be watching much TV on a ski trip anyway. Overall, the house was a lot of fun and we'd do it again. Lastly, don't use Google maps to get up there from Boston, you'll be sent down basically a cow path. Either ask Bryan or follow the directions on the Sugarbush website. Hope you enjoy as much as we did!

Owner response:Hello potential renters! I'm happy to report that we have upgraded the TV to a 32" flatscreen for your viewing pleasure.
