Named for the doves that we hear in the trees on quiet summer mornings, Dove Haven Cottage is a cozy (600 square foot) cottage nestled in the heart of Paso Robles wine country. The cottage is on a road that ends at the fence line of 800 acres of rolling pasture land, so there is almost no traffic. While it is in the country, it is only two miles away from downtown Paso Robles, which features many events, such as wine and olive festivals and the California Mid-State Fair, as well as many excellent restaurants. The cottage is located by our home but is separate and private with it's own small patio underneath redwood trees....a great place to read and relax. Subdued lighting and a clawfoot bathtub make it easy to unwind. High-definition cable television with music channels are provided, as well as internet service for your laptop. The gas fireplace provides both warmth and atmosphere on winter evenings. A complimentary bottle of one of our local wines (or a bottle of sparkling cider if you prefer) is our gift to you to enjoy in front of the fireplace or outside in the shade of the redwood trees.

Owner's Map of Paso Robles
Dave is a retired construction contractor...having built both his home as well as the cottage, when he and his wife, Lynne, decided to settle in Paso Robles 12 years ago. They have two grown daughters, an Australian son-in-law, and have recently become grandparents. Because they have lived in this area for over 40 years, they are familiar with many of the beautiful areas on the central coast.

My wife and I spent a charming week in this cottage - our first visit to Paso. The place was cozy, spotless and comfortable. Near the end of a quiet street, and very private. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen well supplied. We appreciated the privacy and bottle of Zin when we arrived. We plan to return!

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience at Dove Haven this past weekend. Lynne and Dave were both so kind, and the cottage was perfect! So much space for such a low price! All of the little rooms were so specifically decorated, and it felt like "coming home" every night after wine tasting. The location of the cottage is right in the middle of all wineries, and very near downtown Paso Robles, so we were able to get the most out of our time there! I got my security deposit back promptly after the day we left, and I would recommend it for any couple of any age who want a perfect romantic time in wine country!

My husband and I stayed in this nice cottage last weekend. I was hesitant when we pulled up because it was a few feet from the owner's house BUT, the way it is situated you get complete privacy. The little outdoor patio is nestled under redwoods with a view of the golden california hill behind where we saw bunnies and squirrels. The owners are lovely....they give you the key and then you don't see them at all. They put a nice loaf of local bread and wine in the cottage at no extra cost. The place is IMMACULATE and I have high standards for that. It looks a little "cutesy" from the photos and there is perhaps a style that isn't mine in some of the faux flowers, etc... but the cleanliness makes up for everything. The owners also have a laminated sheet of instructions for TV, kitchen, etc... so we could figure everything out on our own and not have to disturb or track them down - they have thought of everything! We loved that it was close to town for dining and the wine region surrounds this area...it is a residential area but you are the last house on the lane. You can ride your bikes from the house to wineries. For the price this cottage is SO much better than a stay at the local Holdiay Inn or La Quinta in my opinion.

It is obvious that Lynne and Dave put great care into every detail of their vacation rental. My husband and I felt at home and welcome in their cozy cottage. We appreciated the comfy bed and all the little extras. I was grateful to have found this wonderful place to come "home" to after a day of exploring Paso Robles.

Dove Haven was a wonderful find! We have often rented from owners, and this was one of our best experiences. Everything was as described, and the owners obviously take pride in providing a clean and comfortable lodging. We come to Paso every year or two for wine tasting, and the choices are ever expanding. We also enjoy the local restaurant scene. This time we tried the hottest new restaurant, Artisan (downtown Paso, a very short drive away), and recommend it highly - a bit pricey but well worth the gourmet experience! We will definitely return to Dove Haven in the future, hopefully when we have better weather so we can enjoy the outdoor sitting area! We loved all the extra little touches, especially the bottle of wine with local bread. If you're looking for a great and easy getaway, this is a great spot!

You really will love this place. We have never stayed anywhere in this country or in Europe or Asia that compared to the warm, homey feeling of Dove Haven. We would reccommend this cottage to any couple. It is close to Cambria, San Simeon and the coast, as well as lots of wine country and has the added attraction of being near a great trail riding experience with the Outback Trail horse rides. The owners are great folks and we guarantee you will be pampered and very comfortable.

First time we have rented from VRBO and we had a wonderful experience. The owners built a perfect place for a couple to get away and have a peaceful place to come home to. The interior was clean and had pretty much everything one would need plus a few thoughtful extras. Although right next to the owner's home, the cottage is very private and has a feeling of being alone in the country. Convenient to Paso Robles' downtown area which was very fun to explore and central to the abundant wineries.

We came to Paso Robles to visit family and enjoy the wine country. We found Dove Haven cottage on VRBO and decided to give it a try. We are very happy we did! The cottage is managed by Lynne and Dave McCabe and they are truly delightful to work with. They ensured that we had all the things we needed for our stay and offered lots of helpful information on the history of the surrounding area and things to do. The cottage: It is beautifully decorated and has incredible finishes throughout. It was obvious to us that the McCabe's had put a lot of time and effort into its design and there was a lot of attention given to the details. During our stay, we found the little cottage to be extremely comfortable and with everything we needed. We had originally planned on trying a couple other cottages in the area during our trip but were so happy with this little cottage that we stayed here our whole trip! The location: When we were looking on VRBO we were a little concerned that the cottages close proximity to the main house might be an issue. This is not the case. The setting of the cottage in relation to the main house and a few large trees in between, ensured our privacy and we felt as if we were in our own little world. We also found the cottage's location to be central to all areas we wanted to visit. Just far enough out of town to give you a country feel, yet just a 5 minute drive to all the downtown restaurants of Paso Robles that we like. We used the cottage as a home base and it was within striking distance to all the major wineries in the region. Summary: We found the cottage to be exactly what we were looking for and perfect for a couple who wants a great little place to stay! It is in a great location and is managed by friendly, helpful owners. The beautiful decorations and finishes inside made for a comfortable, romantic stay. We highly recommend this property and will return to it when we come back!

We were delighted to see how welcoming and well-maintained this charming cottage is. It had everything we hoped for, including a quiet setting and hospitable owners who were exceptionally helpful. We spotted wine-tasting rooms not more than ten minutes away, and excellent restaurants in downtown Paso Robles, including Bistro Laurent, Basil Thai, and our favorite -- Buona Tavola -- were a short drive away. We also liked the 30-minute drive to the coast and the shops of Cambria. Retiring to the privacy of our cottage at day's end was a real pleasure. We would recommend this place for an enjoyable stay in Paso Robles.
