Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2002
John LoBue and Barbara Farhner have been together since 1998. Barbara retired from Siemens in 2001; John retired from the City of San Jose, California in 2002. Since Johns' retirement, we've been together 7x24 and pursuing our mutual dreams. We know few couples so well matched. We travel 9 to 10 months a year and never tire of it.
Why the Owner Chose Cannes
We love the European lifestyle, especially the wine and food in France. Each day we enjoy a 2 hour lunch, planning our 4 hour dinner. Cannes is a great European destination. It's ancient; it's modern; it's lively year-round; it's loaded with wonderful entertainment venues; it's on the water; it's central to the French AND Italian Rivieras. The weather is gorgeous and the beaches are nearby. Cannes is a city perfectly suited to both business and pleasure!
The Unique Benefits of this Apartment
Cannes is quirky and wonderful. You can shop until you drop at the upscale designer stores or find bargains in the weekly open-air antiques market. We often picnic or hike on the Lehren islands which are 10 minutes away by ferry. We never tire of sightseeing in ancient walled cities like Eze, St. Paul de Vence or Haute de Cagnes. The outdoor market, argueably the largest in France, is just around the corner. The French eat FRESH every day and so do we.

An Absolute Gem of a Rental in the Best area in Cannes! (The Suquet). Loved It!

I just traveled to Cannes for a week to attend an advertising festival and was fortunate enough to book this wonderful and brilliantly located apartment that John Lo Bue and his wife Barbara own (I never have met John and Barbara but I feel like I got to know them during the course of making my rental arrangements). The Suquet, the 12th century historical area that this apartment is located in is the prettiest area in Cannes---so photogenic that the folks walking around are constantly taking pictures of its beautiful buildings on cobblelined streets. And starting just steps from the front door of the apartment, there is an abundance of great restaurants and outdoor cafes. Over the years, I have read many folks descriptions about how “close” key locations are to their home or apartment or hotel and so many are inaccurate, but if you haven’t been to Cannes before, this apartment is truly just half a block to the marina and four/five minutes to the Palais des Festivals if you walk, and another five minute walk to the Carlton. A number of my colleagues booked rooms in villas to attend the festival, and I visited many of their villas, but with one exception, I was thrilled that I didn’t take up their offer to stay in their villas as this apartment is in the midst of such a charming and historical area, and I was walking distance from the places I needed to be. And by staying here I also didn’t have to worry about driving down from a villa and finding a parking space, or waiting for a taxi. Furthermore, when I was lazy or late for an event there was a taxi stand just one minute from the apartment (and the airport bus drops you within a two-minute walk of their front door). And the other great thing was that half the dinners my colleagues and I went to---were booked within two blocks of the apartment as everyone wanted to be eat in the historical area where the apartment is located as the restaurants are amongst the best in the city. Another bonus is that this apartment is also just 1 block from the huge open-air market, March Forville, an amazing place to buy fruit, cheese, meats, and breads six days a week (the fruits, meats and cheeses sold there were just what you would order up if you could make a wish for a fantasy French outdoor market). And the local city hall is just a block away, and we loved watching the weddings that were scheduled there almost every half hour on the weekends---for when the wedding is over---the wedding party comes out of the
