We spend a really good time up there! We were bumbed out because the Lake was closed due to cleaning, but went to Silverwood Lake which is only 30mins away. Dan and Bernice are fast responders and are very nice people. We forgot a couple of things and checked right away with the cleaning lady if there were there and found them, they will ship them to us. I recommend a curfew to go to bed and getting up, you can hear like a tractor is passing through, specially in the master room! But other than that, they had everything in the cabin, it is very well stocked! Beutiful views! You can see a bit of Lake Gregory from the main terrace and from the master room. Master room has a very nice balcony. Thank you so much for letting us stay at your piece of heaven!

The group that I brought up loved the home we stayed at. It was close to the store, and everything that we needed in Crestline. The hiking trail near Camp Seely was nearby too. The kitchen was fully stocked, and dining table was large enough for the 8 of us. We had a great time there, and we would stay again. Thank you Bernice and Dan...hope we can stay again!

What a beautiful, clean, organized, and comforting place to stay. Our stay was both relaxing and adventurous at the same time as we spent time hiking the mountains and visiting Lake Gregory and the water slide. The cabin itself offered peace and serenity and kept my family close to my heart. We look forward to our next vacation at the Deer Cottage where we can truly relax and feel at home. The cabin is situated in the perfect setting with all the amenities of home. We didn't want to leave but we know we will be back...for sure!

The house was a great place to be at. It had all the ammenities one would need. I have three children, ranging in age from 4 years to 14 and they all seemed content with our mini vacation. They absolutely loved having multiple t.v.'s, so there was no fighting as to what show to watch. My older boys enjoyed playing pool and my 4 year old enjoyed watching shows on the netflix system. Overall, everyone in the family had a great time and we can't wait to come back. Thanks Bernice and Dan for making the rental transition a smooth one.

There were nine of us staying at the Deer Cottage for two nights and what fun we had. The sleeping arrangements were perfect for us. The 5 kids really enjoyed the game room and pool table a lot. We were never short on entertainment which is nice and the four adults were able to enjoy and relax. We were pleasantly surprised at everything the cottage had in the kitchen for our use. It is nice to go somewhere and not have to pack everything but the kitchen sink. We will definitely be back again!

Our family was very fortunate to stay at such a lovely "cottage" over this past Memorial Day weekend. It was a home away from home that was truly welcoming. Easy parking, comfortable furnishings, light airy rooms and a nice large kitchen gave us all the basics. The property was clean and well maintained. The cool extras included a wonderful fireplace, TV/Cable/Internet with easy use instructions, game tables, videos, large fluffy bath towels, comfy mattresses, and an amazing lake & forest view. We were even greeted each morning with our very own pair of woodpeckers. "Tap, tap, tap - don't oversleep, come outside and enjoy the mountain air". The reservation process was expedient, The owners Bernice & Dan graciously answered our questions and gave us a personal phone call to ask for feedback and to confirm all went well with our stay. We definitely look forward to a return visit.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Deer Cottage. Everything was as described on the VRBO website. The kitchen was well appointed. Bedrooms were comfortable and cozy. We enjoyed our evenings in front of the fire. Our boys particularly enjoyed the pool table and game room. The weather was kind and we were able to hike to Heart Rock and fish at Lake Gregory. We enjoyed lunch in Big Bear and shopping at Lake Arrowhead. A very well stocked supermarket is just minutes away. We would recommend this property to others.

I found a gem in Crestline. I was so comfortable during our long-weekend stay with family. The cottage was clean and well-equipped with everything we needed to feel at home. The kids were entertained in the game room, and the adults enjoyed some pool. We walked around Lake Gregory with the kids to busy ourselves in the afternoon, then enjoyed a cozy fire in the evenings. The kitchen was spacious and the view was great from the balcony. Bernice was very delightful and helpful in addressing any and all of our needs. I would, however, recommend Deer Cottage for parties of six or less unless you bring an air mattress for additional persons. I do hope to return sooner rather than later, perhaps, an annual get-away.

Owner response: The Deer Cottage sleeps 10 comfortable. We have two queen size beds and one full which sleep 6 guest. We also have a pull out twin trundle bed, a roll out foldable twin bed, and a pull out full size sofa bed on the top level, all together sleeping 4 more guest. Sometimes our guest overlook the pullouts.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for sharing your beautiful home! The openness of the floor plan, allowed for the grownups to catch up on all that's been going on in our lives meanwhile the little women, played and reacquainted themselves with their cousins. The house is very well equipped from linens, bedrooms (TV/video in every room!), play area, and general hangout. We created new memories by the cozy fireplace in the evening, broke bread overlooking the panoramic views of the mountainous hillsides, enjoyed the nearby lake and quaint downtown. The cafe is wonderful to get a quick cup of coffee and muffins. The grocery store is completely stock with reasonable prices. Great fruit and vegetable selections. I loved the Mexican restaurant just down the hill. I loved that the house is centrally located and everything from entertainment, video store, lake, grocery is just a stone's throw away. This place will be the beginning of a new tradition.I am looking forward to next year!

Our family enjoyed Deer Cottage and we all look forward to using again. There were 8 adults and two children (3 and 14 months old) one adult was in a wheelchair. Our stay was 3 nights and 4 days. The description and pictures accurately depict the property. The property was very clean and ready for our stay. The entry level bathroom was not accessible for the wheelchair (the only draw back), but the entry level was spacious enough for all 10 of us and the large dining table was large enough to accommodate us for playing games and eating dinner/breakfast altogether. The view was spectacular with all the houses on the hill side all light up with Christmas lights. During the day we went to the lake to feed the ducks and ride our bikes. One day we went to Lollipop Park in Lake Arrowhead Village and our grandson’s thoroughly enjoyed themselves. This home is centrally located to everything our family wanted to do. The kitchen was fully equipped with every thing you could possibly need. There was even spices, coffee, and condiments left if you forgot to pack them. We have already recommended this property to relatives and friend. Thank you Bernice.

We spent Christmas weekend at Deer Cottage and had a wonderful time. The kitchen is very nice with a view and the dining area was large enough for our needs. The pool table was used a great deal by the family and the large sofa was very comfortable. We did the walk/hike around the lake every day and had the good luck of spotting a bald eagle. The grocery store is very close and handy to shop instead of packing them in advance. The only negative we found is the stairs are slippery so caution everyone to hold the rail. Our group talked about returning in the summer to do more hiking and enjoy the lake.

My family and I spent four days at the Deer Cottage and had a wonderful time. A beautiful home on a quiet little lane up on the hill overlooking the lake. You get the feel of being away from it all and still have the convienence of a little village just a couple min down the hill where you can find fun, food, and more. We came home completely relaxed and look forward to another stay in the near future.

We instantly felt welcomed as we walked into the beautiful and spacious home with wonderful views. The kitchen is especially nice, very spacious, well-stocked with utensils, etc. and a great view from the kitchen sink. We had a family birthday gathering with all adults and were able to cook and serve all our meals easily. The pool table in the room off the kitchen was quite popular throughout the weekend. The living room was also comfortable with a large L-shaped couch. Beds and pillows were comfortable. The master suite is spacious with a great view. One of the bedrooms is a little crowded with beds ( a bunk bed that sleeps 3, plus a twin bed) - great for kids but for our adult group, it was a bit hard to maneuver in that room. The whole house was incredibly clean and that felt so good. We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to come back!

We made the good choice of selecting Deer Cottage for a family Crestline vacation. The young among us were especially happy with the pool table and air hockey. Cards, games and reading material was an added plus. Having linens supplied and laundry facilities surely took off the pressure for the women. The view is beautiful and great for those relaxing moments on the balcony. Deer Cottage was perfect for our family.

This was a great place to spend a week in retreat. The house is on the side of a hill, so that when you are on the deck in the back you are high up in the trees, so it is perfect for bird lovers. The kitchen is generously large, well equipped and easy to cook in (the gas stove is fabulous!), the beds are comfortable, everything was beautiful and clean, and the location is quiet and peaceful. Reserving was easy, the owners were very helpful in answering our questions, and email communication was smooth, including good directions. The house has wifi, and the owners contacted us by email during the week to check in, which made us feel even better cared-for, even though we didn't need anything. We didn't use them, but there are many things in this house good for families: children's books, videos, a pool table, a game room with air hockey, and several board games available. One room has enough beds for up to 4 kids, including a set of bunks. I would recommend this house for people with school-aged children, and for mobile adults. Since the living area is on the entry level and bedrooms are downstairs, mobility-limited individuals or those with toddlers might prefer a different floor plan. I'd say sleeping 8-10 would be pretty crowded, but fine if some are children. Getting to 10 would involve 3 people in a double/twin bunk bed and 2 in a trundle bed. Two couples and two singles or two couples and up to 4 kids should be comfortably accommodated. The dining room table has 4 big chairs, and there is a generous bench that can seat several more for group meals or games. We went seeking peace and quiet, so we didn't venture much down into town, but we did enjoy meals at Tony's Mexican restaurant, La Casita (open only for dinner), and Round Table Pizza. I'm sure there is more to enjoy in town, but if you are like me and enjoy getting away, you'll find Deer Cottage a delightful place even if you never leave for days.

I searched and searched online for the perfect cabin to spend my birthday weekend with my family. I was looking for something nice but still at a decent price. I made a lot of phone calls and most of these cabin owners were very rude and not very helpful. Finally I decided to inquire about the Deer Cottage. Both owners were very nice, imformative and took their time to answer all of my questions and assured me that I would love the cabin. Upon viewing the pictures I could tell the cabin was nice and had great views, however upon my arrival I realized the pictures did this cabin no justice!! It was just perfect! Very clean, quiet neighborhood, 3 stories with bedrooms seperated from the entertainment floors, lots of games and things to do, and the view wow! I couldn't believe all that I was getting for the price I paid! We really enjoyed waking up in the morning and having our cup of coffee on the balcony overlooking the lake and trees. We barbequed right off the balcony as well on a large gas grill. At night we started the fireplace with the complementary firewood the cottage offered and made some yummy smores right from the living room! My 2-year old son had a blast and I must say the cabin was definitely kid friendly. Nothing he could really break or get hurt on and lots for him to play with. Loved that there was "on demand" so we could select movies and shows for my son at the click of a button. In the afternoon we took a walk to the lake and it only took us 10 minutes to get there. They have lots to do at the lake as well, fishing, horseshoes, hiking, kayaking, etc. This cabin exceeded my expectations and made my birthday weekend very enjoyable. The owners of this cabin have done a great job in offering all that is necessary plus more. Not only that, they were kind and very patient with all of my questions and requests. They went above and beyond to make sure my weekend was perfect. I will definitely come back and recommend to all of my friends!

WOW, that about sums it up. My family had a great time at Crestline and Deer Cottage. The accommodations where beautiful. With all the amenities inside anyone could need to have a great time away. Took my 2 kids (6year old and 2year old) fishing for the first time, they loved it. They enjoyed the freedom to just cruise about and play outside in the fresh air. You have to love the old world charm of Crestline. Country living at its best. Plenty for every member of the family to do and a number of great places to eat. Personally I have always enjoyed traveling and staying at places "OFF SEASON" and Crestline and Deer Cottage is no different. Though I am sure that during peak summer or winter it is equally special, I just like seeing places in their natural state.... My family will be back and I have no reservation in recommending Deer Cottage to anyone.

The Deer Cottage was an excellent choice for me and my friends as we just wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of L.A. There were stunning views from every window and beautiful decks to sit and enjoy from. The house is designed perfectly, 1 floor for sleeping, 1 floor for general living, eating and cooking and 1 floor for games and entertainment. It was fully stocked with all the amenities one could ask for from board games and puzzles, to sheets and towels, to kitchen appliances and cooking needs. The cottage is only a 15 minute walk from Lake Greggory, as well as the grocery store, bowling alley and karaoke bar in the small town. Also, it is only a 15 minute drive to Lake Arrowhead and its surrounding shops as well as an hour drive to Big Bear; there are activities to suit every hobby. Surrounded by friendly neighbors, beautiful scenery and wonderful recreational activities, I would recommend it to anyone seeking a small-town, mountain getaway.

I stayed at this well-appointed family cabin for a long family weekend with four of my daughters. It took some doing to coordinate schedules, but it was well worth the trouble. The cabin has a great layout, with living areas, bedrooms and game room on different levels. This allowed the early/late risers and to bed people their freedom. Everything was provided, including a well-stocked with basics kitchen and wood for the fireplace. While we had planned to hike and tour some, we ended up spending all our time at the cabin since it met all our needs. This,of couirse, is what made the memories. We watched hours of family videos of past vacations. The girls poked good-natured fun at each other. We smiled, laughed and at the end couldn't wait for our next family vacation. We all agreed that we would all like to return to this great cabin. It was great to have such positive hosts who answered all our questions and who were willing to accomodate early and late check in/out since this didn't interfere with other renters. We recommend this cabin to any who want a great vacation place. Although we spent most of our time at Lake Gregory nearby, the cottage was wonderful to return to with all the comforts plus of home. Due to prior commitments, a few were disappointed they were unable to stay over after seeing how clean and comfortable it was. My granddaughter got a huge kick out of the 3rd floor down. It is rare for us to get away with family and friends, so we were very pleased everyone had an enjoyable time, even catching 30+ trout at the lake. One of my son's friend had such a good time, he said we need to make it an annual event! We had originally planned the trip for my mom as the main floor would have worked well with her wheelchair, but unfortunately she was unable to attend at that time, but we plan for her to attend next time. The owners were very easy to work with and pleasant.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We have used many other VRBO properties and this one was awesome! Great views and very comfy although quite spacious. We have 2 teenagers and they loved all of the amenities. Walking the lake loop is always fun, we wish we could do that daily! Tis home was completely organized with lots of great instruction.Bernice was very kind and considerate in booking and rearranging our dates and the transaction went super smooth, Thanks much Bernice!

The Deer Cottage is a 3-story home built on the side of hill, with a great view of the tree-covered mountains and a little bit of the lake. The top floor is the "family" area -- kitchen, living room, billiard table, BBQ deck, and 1/2 bathroom. the 2nd floor down have 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The master suite is spacious, with it's own bath and deck. Nice and private if you want to get away from the kids. The 2nd room has a queen bed with slide-out bed. The 3rd room has 3 beds. The basement has a large open sunny playroom and a laundry room. We had a family reunion here for a weekend, with just the 10 adult men in our family. It was a great bonding experience. Note that the house is not "rustic," but rather modern and comfortable. We enjoyed ourselves hiking around the lake, fishing, bowling in town, and playing billiards and video games at the house. But mostly we cooked and ate and cooked and ate some more. We never felt cramped. The cooks could do their thing in the large open kitchen or BBQing on the deck. The large dining table combined with deck table accomodated us all. We brought two blow-up mattresses and used the large basement room as a final bedroom, which worked well. We had such a good time, we hope to do this again every year! The owners were extremely easy to work with, and I received my security refund within 2 days of vacating. Awesome! Highly recommend the Deer Cottage for family fun.

Property was clean and well organized, many different activities in the house (pool table, air hockey, playing cards, dvd player, etc.), as well as by the lake for families to enjoy. It was a nice open view from the second and third level porches. We watched a movie every night on the flat screen tv with videos rented from Red Box at the 7/11 store at the bottom of the hill. There were clear instructions on the use of the cable, tv, dvd player. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, pots and pans, other materials needed to prepare full meals. Air conditioning was needed mainly for the 3rd bedroom. It was easy to park 2 cars in the parking spots. There is also ample street parking. Our T-Mobile phones did not work in the area but Verizon and AT&T phones worked. Overall, the house made for a fun and comfortable family vacation! Would definitely recommend property.

Owner response: The Deer Cottage comes stocked with everything you need to enjoy your vacation. From a fully stocked kitchen to games and a brand new 42" flat screen television in the living room. It has a very desirable centralized Air Conditioning that cools every room of the house for those hot summer days! Most homes in the mountains do not have centralized air conditioning. It is a wonderful relief and relaxing feeling to be able to arrive to a nice cool home after a hot day at the lake.

Our stay at this cabin was quite memorable. We very much enjoyed being so close to nature and yet within easy reach of various shopping centers. The cabin is extremely well kept and confortable. The view from both back porches is very relaxing and it is to die for!! Our stay here was definitely top notch.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The cabin is very quaint and comfortable, and is in a perfect location. The balcony opens to a beautiful view of a lake which is nearby. The lake is a great place to take the family for a hike or to do some fishing. We thorougly enjoyed our stay and accommodations. Highly recommended!
