Every thing was amazing from the moment we arrived. We saw dolphins before we were even unpacked. The house was so cozy and we felt at home the moment we stepped inside. It was very clean. Our neighbors were all very nice and helpful with local food and activities. Our cable went out once but it was no problem this just promoted more family time together. The owner was very quick to get the cable issue fixed. His communication throughout the whole time was prompt, pleasant and personal. The beach was amazing especially being so close, our kids could go out with the dog to the beach and play and we were able to see and hear them at all times. We saw amazing things on the beach and took a great hike to the north end of the beach which I recommend to everyone. This truly is a hidden treasure and my only issue with writing this review is it might make it harder to find open time to rent again. I am sure it will book fast. This was by far the greatest vacation our family has ever been blessed with. We cant wait to go back every chance we get for the years to come. This is our home away from home. Thank you Ed for very reasonable rates for such an amazing place. You really helped us create some of the best memories. The surrounding area offers so much to do and see, we merely scratched the surface. I would recommend donuts from the Fractured Prune on Coastal higway, definitely pay a visit to Touch of Italy for fresh cheese and pastries, be sure to visit 2nd street in Lewes the Kidz Ketch was great. There is a lot to do, but it was so hard to leave the comfort, fun and peace of this amazing cottage on the bay. If you have any doubts about staying here don't. You wont be disappointed.

Most things that were advertised were there: rooms, kitchen equipments, air conditionning. There was a secund bathroom advertised in th bath house but the shower was less than appealin and I had to wash the toilet bowl. it had not been washed for a while. Also the outside grill was a scrap, all rusted, and was not even cleaned when I got there. For the inside bathroom, the shower doors have been repaired to often, the bolts kept coming out of the slide. You had to slide the doors as if you were handling porcelain. Also to reach the owner to get all infos before my arrival was not easy. He kept promising to send me all infos and finally gave me the code to enter by email a week and a half before getting there. The beach was very nice, to bad for the rest but I will not recommend the property. For the price he is renting, he should make an effort. Also he was supposed to send back the credit $100 as our dog passed away before the holliday, wonder if we will get it...

This place was amazing! Secluded. Quiet. Tranquil. Exactly what my family needed! The house was very clean and very well maintained. Easily found everything we needed. The sunroom was my main hangout though. The breeze coming from the bay/ocean was so relaxing with the windows open and we hung out there most nights playing games and reading books. Being right on the beach is huge. You don't have to lug everything to and from the car. We were able to fly a kite, and when the kids got tired of that, just run it to the house real quick and be back in a couple seconds. Lunch time? No packing up everything required, just head into the house, eat, and back to the beach. Can't express just how convenient that was. The sand was very clean and soft. Not rocky or rough. That was one thing I worried about heading down, but even that was great. Walking the beach and seeing all the horseshoe crabs and other shells that wash is was really fun for us. We had a couple nice bonfires at night which we all loved. I had never done that before and it was just a very cool experience. Just a quick drive and you are at any shop you need. Close to Rehoboth outlets and boardwalk. So the location is very convenient to get everywhere you would want to go. And speaking of the drive, it was a highlight of our day to make the drive through the conservation to get to the property. We wondered what wildlife we would see. I think our final count was 6 foxes, 7 deer, 2 raccoons, many cranes and other birds, and 1 turtle we saved from the middle of the road. Ed's communication made everything so simple for us to be prepared for our trip and know what to expect when we got there. He is very involved in making sure you and your family/friends have the best vacation you can possibly have while you are staying at his place. It made our lives easier with less stress to make sure we had everything we need and to not overpack with things we would not need. This was the best vacation our oldest son. He is a 14 year old pug who has never been to the beach. He loved the house and beach! So glad we were able to bring him along with us. Overall, this was one of the best family vacations we have taken. Just to get away from it all before the kids had to head back to school was great. Will be a very memorable vacation and one I hope to repeat in the future. And when we do, I will be contacting Ed to come back to this house!

A very serious health crisis nearly kept us from returning to our favorite beachfront hideaway, something that the entire family had been looking forward to all year since we left here last year. I was really ill the week we before we were due to leave and was not at all well enough to travel, but I swear Ed’s little cottage on the bay was calling. We decided at the last minute to throw caution to the wind and head down to the beach which must’ve been just what the doctor ordered because instead of getting sick from the 90 minute ride, I actually began to feel better and continued to enjoy increased energy and well being the entire week. The evening strolls along the beach, though not as long as they were last year, were still as enjoyable, the peacefulness of the community is hallmarked by the warm and friendly people you find in both residents and renters alike. The old fashioned Fourth of July parade and ice cream social was great! I decorated the yard and our dog Floyd in stars and red, white and blue and we sat at the end of the driveway where Floyd enjoyed all of the extra attention he was getting courtesy of the parade participants and I was happy to be feeling like I had finally turned the corner and joined the land of the living again. The week at Ed’s cottage proved to be truly magical because instead of being worse, as we expected with the trip, my lab results were actually slightly better upon out return home. Apparently, my toes in the water and butt in the sand was the only medicine I needed. We are already planning next year’s return and are even comparing our winter schedules and hopefully can find time for a winter escape as well…for health reasons, you know ; ) Thanks again, Ed for everything!

I have Traveled many places and stayed at one of London's best hotels, but nothing and I mean nothing can compare to this wonderful and charming cottage, nothing fancy about it but who needs fancy when you step outside right on to the beach, my husband was out there morning noon and night fishing(not that he caught much but he really enjoyed being there as did my friend from England. the Nature Preserve is amazing. and Ed well where do we start here that man has to be the kindest person ever and deeply caring, when I saw the cottage I just fell in love with it and knew this is where I wanted to take my husband who has multiple myeloma, and will have to have a stem cell transplant he has to be checked each month and we were not sure if we had the ok by the doctor, I explained to Ed that while I loved the place I would not be sure until he saw the doctor if we could make the dates we wanted, Ed held that cottage for us not knowing if we could make it or not ,we will never forget his kindness, so Ed a very big Thank you to you for allowing us to share this wonderful Oasis

Great for family with dogs and kids who enjoy bon-fires on the beach! Great place to relax, read a book and nap on the beach. Just 20 min south is Lewis with shops and fun activities - mini golf, go-cart etc. It was the perfect place to relax before the school season starts and the water was perfect.

What a great vacation!!!! Primehook Beach is a great place to get away from the busy world we live in. It is a very relaxing and peaceful place! Ed's house is great! It's very comfortable - we especially loved the sun porch!! It's a great place to vacation with kids and a dog. We had a great trip and hope to return again!! I would highly recommend this vacation!!! When you are here, check out king's Ice Cream in Milton - excellent!!

My family and I just returned from a wonderful week’s stay at this lovely beach cottage and find ourselves missing it already. From the moment we walked in the door, we felt at home. This house was a great choice for our family, which includes a 12, 21 & 22 y/o. It is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Rehobeth, Fenwick, etc.., that you’ll enjoy privacy and tranquility, which my husband and I appreciated, yet a few minutes ride in the car will take you right to where the action is, which was perfect for the kids. There is so much to see and do, that a week won’t be nearly enough and the peaceful, lazy days on the secluded beach, which is just steps away, with a good book that melt into relaxing evenings spent lounging on the breezy sun porch with a bottle of wine simply enjoying the sounds of the waves, will make you want to stay forever. Ed’s description doesn’t do justice to this cozy retreat that is like a step back in time to a picture-postcard worthy beach bungalow and those carefree childhood days spent at the beach, before cell phones, computers and everything else that can clutter our lives (although the amenities do include wi-fi in case you cannot survive without it). After dinner strolls treated us to wonderful, camera ready views of osprey, heron and other wildlife courtesy of the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge that borders this quaint and friendly community, leaving it unspoiled and uncorrupted by the traffic and crowds that you expect when traveling to a popular beach resort and allowed me to walk off a few extra calories affording me the indulgence of an ice cream cone in town. Maryanne, who was just a phone call away, was terrific. Having the flexibility to check in late, very late, as I operate on my own personal time zone and am chronically tardy, alleviated my stress before we left our house, being able to bring our ENTIRE family, which includes our dog, Floyd, who absolutely loved the beach, truly made the FAMILY get away complete. Our 12 y/o’s announcement that he’d be “reading on the sun porch until dinner was ready”, spending time with our 22y/o son and his girlfriend and just walking on the beach with my husband who was NOT preoccupied with work, was icing on the cake confirming that I had discovered a gem of a vacation destination that we’d all look forward to revisiting. The kids must have read our minds when they suggested we make this a yearly family ritual. We hope to do just that! Thanks Ed!

About the owner: My family loves Primehook Beach. The kids are growing up and their busy schedules keep us from going to the beach for the summer. I am a retired police detective and now own several small real estate related companies. We hope you will make this your home away from home.

Why the Owner Chose Primehook Beach:
This is a natural beach with no retail, hustle or bustle. This beach is a secret! We are close to all of the touristy resorts like Lewis, Rehoboth, Bethany, Dewey, Fenwick Island, and Ocean City. We are about 20 minutes from the Cape May Ferry (even though you can watch it cross the Delaware from the Beach House), and about 20 minutes from the Casino in Harrington. The best part of our beach, when you are here, nothing seems close until you leave. We have internet if you dare!

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Our beach house is located directly on the beach. You can watch the abundance of wildlife as nature intended. There are no crowds...just wildlife and nature at its best!
