This house has beautiful gardens and an amazing view of the north shore of Puerto Rico. It is adjacent to other houses, but the architecture, vegetation, surrounding walls and security gate make it feel very private. We loved the gazebo, gardens, and the sitting area around the built-in BBQ pit -- which we made use of several times during our stay. There's a locked gate (key on house key-ring) that gives you access to the path that goes down to the almost-private beach at the bottom of the cliff. We went down there almost every day and had the whole beach to ourselves almost every time. A special thanks to the owner, Alicia, for making us feel at home and being so incredibly friendly and helpful. Thank you for the wonderful stay!Owner response: Sometimes, I forget "on purpose", to mention any new improvements to pleasantly surprise my (especially returning) guests. But I'll say that after throwing out yet another rusty barbecue grill, I had one built in and placed at the edge of the cliff, overlooking the ocean. Also, the outdoor shower comes in handy to refresh and rinse off all that sand frrom a day at the beach. What is most important to us is that all our guests feel at home in Aligarden.

I've wanted to send you a note since I arrived at Aligarden. Your place is really amazing, all I can think about is how I can get back there. The week there essentially redefined what a vacation is to me. I was so relaxed, falling asleep to the waves and gently waking up to the sun and warm breeze coming through the bedroom. I started a new job last week and I only get two weeks of vacation and I'm quite sure that one of them will be at Aligarden. The garden was immaculate, it was so pretty and the variety of plants was really impressive. The private beach was the icing on the cake, I didn't see a single person on it the entire week. Thank you again for sharing your slice of paradise, I hope I can get back there again and again.Owner response: Although there are many activities you can take part in around this area, none are as rewarding as just taking the time to listen when the waves break on the surf & cliff rocks below and feel the vibrations of it in your body. Or take a deep breath while on the gazeebo, and smell the sea. But my favorite thing to do is to take an early morning walk, coffee cup in hand, and sit in the pagoda in front of the big breadfruit tree and enjoy the sounds of awakening birds, or a far away rooster. This is truly a place to enjoy with all your senses.

Growing up in Puerto Rico I never thought that i could call another place home until i stay in Aligarden. This property is an undiscovered gem. From the minute that i drove in i knew that the owners cared and loved this place. The house was immaculate. The oceanfront view is breath taking. The constant breeze from the ocean gives you this sense of peace that you don't get back in the states. All of the local restaurants are great, "La Quebrada" is a personal favorite. Alicia was easy to contact if i had any questions as well as she made sure that we felt at home and everything was good. I would HIGHLY recommend this house for a vacation home. She certainly has my business every time I go back to puerto rico.Owner response: It always gives me great satisfaction when guests express their appreciation for the uniqueness of Aligarden, and any effort I make to make them & their family feel comfortable in my home. But Mother Nature plays the most important role with her serne sunrises, sensational sunsets, sounds of the ocean, and the magestic veiws of virgin coastline. One can almost feel any tension being blown away by the balmy breezes which lull into a state of total relaxation. Thank you for your kind words, and we look forward to having you back again.

When we arrived at Aligarden, we were blown away by the beautiful property. Talk about a true paradise. As soon as you drive up to the home, all you see is the beautiful gardens and you are surrounded by the ocean. Watching the sunset sitting in the gazebo was awesome. The amenities.....well, the owners thought of everything to make you feel at home. The home is equipped with everything. Speaking of the owners, Alicia was friendly, and very accommodating. There was so much to do nearby in walking distance....great restaurants, park, beaches....totally awesome. I will definitely visit Aligarden again....can't wait. My family and I loved our stay.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at Aligarden the first week of August, and it was so wonderful! The minute you drive through the gate you know you are entering somewhere special. The grounds are gorgeous. The owners have done such a wonderful job planting beautiful flowering shrubs and trees, and it truly feels like paradise. The views are unbeatable as well. You can hear the waves crashing on the rocks and beach below while you sit in the gazebo taking it all in. Sunrise and sunset were breathtaking every single day! There are stairs from the house down to the beach, which is almost completely private and gorgeous. We spent a lot of time just relaxing with the windows open or on the balcony, enjoying the ocean breeze. We cooked almost every night we were there, and the kitchen fully stocked of everything you need to cook a great meal. You provide the food, and they provide the rest (pots, pans, plates, cups, etc.). There was even fresh mint in the garden that we used to make perfect mojitos! There are also several great restaurants close by, and the owners provide great directions, menus, etc. for everywhere you want to go. Quebradillas was a great location for us as well, as we drove from beach to beach exploring. We got to explore the entire western coast of Puerto Rico in just one day! Don't miss the tunnel, which is right near the house (you have a view from the house). I think it's needless to say we really enjoyed our stay, and look forward to going back again. Aligarden is the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Ryan & Susy, for your lovely review. I was so pleased to know that you took advantage of all the information I make available to our guests (especially the road maps), to travel around the island and make it a great adventure for yourselves. I'm sure that relaxing with your "perfect" mojitos in the gazebo was just what you needed to recharge your batteries before coming back to your busy lives. Again, thank you, and I hope you come back soon. Alicia & Eddie

We visited Aligarden in September 2009 and had a great stay. The home has all the amenities that you could ask for. Everything from a full kitchen including spices to coolers and a beach umbrella. The view is great and I can not think of a better spot to watch the sunset. The house sits on a point and gets a cool breeze off the ocean almost nonstop. One can easily tell the owners love and care for this property and spend a great deal of thier own time there. The garden is the best I have seen and adds to the feel of the location. The home is located in a great spot to explore. There are a number of beaches located within 20 minutes and each has its own personality. Whether you are looking to swim, snorkel, surf, or have a beach to yourself; you can surley find what you are looking for. Maps and information are provided at the house and Alicia was more than helpful with all of my questions. If we return to Puerto Rico, there is no question where we would stay. I highly recommend this property to the travelers looking for a little piece of paridse for themselves.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our time at Aligarden was magnificent. We arrived at night, so weren't able to see the ocean, but we certainly heard it. But as soon as the sun began to come up the next morning, the view was unbelievable. We had planned our vacation several months ahead of time and we were very excited to finally be there. When we saw the sun rising that first morning and hearing the splashes of the ocean below us, it was like a dream. We couldn't believe we were finally there, and it was better than we could have ever imagined. We excitedly walked around the premises of the house and looked at the well maintained yard and flowers and native fruits and even vegetables (gandules). It was neat to walk around and find little hidden benches to sit and enjoy the surroundings. The neighborhood was quiet at night and during the day. It's so hard to describe the natural beauty the location of this house has to offer. Down the street from Aligarden (to the left) you will find a mixture of humble homes and more glamorous homes, along with a few businesses. There are also homes with a lot of land that have horses and cows. It's so peaceful and calming to drive down the street and see people sitting on the porch or just working in their yards. In the other direction (to the right) you go out to the main highway. There is a really cool tunnel not too far from Aligarden (you need a car). It's called El Tunel de Guajataca. You can actually see it from the gazebo at Aligarden. Make a right at the highway and you'll see signs for it. When you get there, park and follow the path through it. It will be an adventure. Be adventurous and go through each little space and hole and see what hidden treasure you will find at the other side. It is absolutely amazing. There is also a little park right next to Aligarden (walking distance) with great paths that lead to different areas of the beach. Great views and awesome picture opportunities. On the side of the roads, there are also several little portable frituras that sell authentic Puertorican food. Yummy. . . So good!!! We absolutely loved Aligarden and hope to go back again in a few years. If we could go sooner, we would. It is awesome, I can’t say it enough. The views, the relaxation, the sounds of the ocean, the adventurous path to the secluded beach. Oh, and I forgot to mention the neighbor horse that comes over to the empty lot next to Aligarden and munches on the grass. Loved it all!! You won't be sorry!!!!!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I've been to Aligarden 3 times now and I am headed there again next month. This is the most breathtaking place I have even been and the photos do not even come close to doing it justice. The owner of the property has done all of the landscaping and gardening and the intense love she has for the property is evident in her work! It's easy to forget that a world exists outside of the property which makes it perfect for a truly relaxing vacation. The locals are amazing people with great stories. And the food is delicious!! The two restaurants located on the same street as the house make delicious local specialties that will have you craving rice and beans for breakfast! There is a supermarket as well other shops within a 15 minute drive and other great swimming beaches as well as the caves (which i recommend) are about 30-40 minutes away.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The VIEW from this property is simply PRICELESS. Quiet area, PEACEFUL, and once again an AWESOME VIEW. I had my entire family with me, and we were at peace. I recommend walking down to the beach, however be careful on your way down, TAKE YOUR TIME. EVERYTHING WAS A SIMPLE DRIVE AWAY. Alicia, provided all of the information that was necessary, which saved us time, so that we could focus on relaxing and enjoying the vacation. This is an amazing place to stay. The only inaccurate information in your listing is that the view is truly to magnificant to describe. The property has been lovingly tended, and is full of wonderful nooks and corners with chairs, benches, windchimes, and the most beautiful flowers everywhere. The gazebo cannot be described. You won't want to go anywhere but there. The view from it will take your breath away. The house is very comfortable, with wonderful breezes (no need for AC) The kitchen has everything needed if you want to cook, but there are some good restaurants within walking distance and some great ones within a few miles. The area has lots to see and do, from great surfing beaches, calm swimming beaches, magnificant beaches with pounding surf and crashing waves ( you will want to just sit and watch for hours). There are beautiful caves to explore, lovely old towns in the mountains, golfing not far away. The owners, Alicia and Ed, will go out of their way to make you feel at home, and will supply you with all the info you will need for an unforgettable vacation. I can't wait to go back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 21/24

Aligarden is SO incredibly romantic! You are completely surrounded by lush vegetation (gorgeous flowers and palm trees) and the song of coqui frogs harmonizing perfectly with the ocean waves below. You won't ever want to leave! The house is uniquely laid out in a way that makes it very comfortable for as many as 3 couples. The downstairs apartment is perfect for the couple that wants more privacy, or the kids who might be noisy and want their own "fort". It has everything you'll need in a very clean and well maintained space. It will feel like your own personal beach house. Jobos Beach is very nearby (but you will need to have a car) and it is fantastic for swimming, snorkelling and on windy days, surfing. Also not far is the Rio Camuy Cave Park, which is a perfect adventure for kids and adults alike. My husband and I took a sunset horseback ride with Tropical Trails, which is also not far from the house. There is plenty to do and you'll find guidebooks in the living room with all sorts of options. We spent our wedding anniversary at Aligarden in 2006 and then the following year, I brought my parents (who consider Hawaii THE ONLY tropical place worth visiting). Well, let me tell you that they were blown away by Aligarden! They are STILL talking about that special trip to PR and have changed their minds about Hawaii! I highly recommend this little slice of Paradise for both couples and families.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
