Exquisite grounds located on a private road NOT part of a development or multi-home estate. Privacy is important to us. A traditional house entirely remodeled, new roof, new tiles, new floors, new walls, bathrooms and efficient air conditioning for bedrooms--situated in a lovely tropical garden and lawn with palm trees and a giant panama tree, about 170 by 250 feet in surface-area, with many tropical birds, and an occasional iguana strolling across the lawn. All the rooms with great window-doors views and the kitchen as well look out onto the ocean; the rooms are connected by way of the covered terrace which wraps around the entire house, no interior corridors; the beach in front of us -almost a mile!--is empty much of the time, ie almost private, and accessible through our beach-gate just 10 steps down.. An exceptional feature of the property is the twice-weekly maintenance and cleaning we provide for you by a highly trustworthy couple. Extra cleaning beyond the two days provided can be arranged at renter's expense. We have installed a deep well so that house and garden are supplied with fresh water and not dependent on town supply pipes -- important since droughts are not unknown in Panama. All appliances are only a couple of years old. Wireless internet is excellent (the maximum available in Panama), although with electrical outages in Panama there are occasional interruptions. Please note that the land-line telephone only calls out to local numbers; you need a four-band cell phone otherwise, and your provider must allow roaming. Chips for cell phones are for sale everywhere for $10, only 'Moviestar' is no good! Any correspondence regarding rental must take place through our listed email address for your own security!

We have the great good fortune of almost two kilometer of beautiful beach in front of our property. This is not common at all- at a kilometer to the left and a kilometer to the right the beaches are packed with rocks and unwalkable and unswimmable unless the tide is really high! It should also be noted that the 40 or so kilometers of the area on the pacific where it is situated is known as the 'arco seco' , the dry arc, ie when it is pouring in Panama City there is just a shower in El Palmar. Also, no mosquitos! very few insects (abundance of birds drawn by our little swimming pool); as soon as you go back into the country, away from the ocean front there are plenty of noisome insects, but none here. Even in the rainy season, all we get is a half hour or so of rain, then sunshine again.
The apartment is thoroughly cleaned before arrival of guest and must be returned thoroughly cleaned. Therefore there is $32 cleaning charge....moreless

7 miles from our township (Playa el Palmar) is a real town- Coronado- which has shopping centers, amenities for horse-riding, tennis, golf, water sports etc.

About the owner: I am a writer/artist, from New York. My wife and I come here just 3-4 months a year, take excellent care of the property year-round. Every season we are here my wife plants more flowers and shrubs and with the help of our professional gardener it has become an exquisite place to stay.
Why the Owner Chose Playa El Palmar: Peace, swimming in wonderfully warm (but not too warm!) water, perfect (dry! almost mosquito-free!) weather, none of the storms and hurricanes you get in other parts of Central America, or the very strong winds other places in San Carlos and Coronado have at times because the house is located in a cove protected by cliffs on each side. Unbelievable view (you have to see it to believe it! the entire ocean and cliffs on each side), a friendly people and very safe area.
