Crieff villa description

Imagine a sun-kissed living room with huge windows and big sunny views to the fresh water Loch Earn and 2,000 foot hills beyond to the south. This luxurious, well equipped house for up to ten people sits in its own acre of garden on a wooded slope with uninterrupted, south facing views. This is Clach Mhor in the lovely Perthshire village of St Fillans, set within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, just 1 hour 30 minutes from both Edinburgh and Glasgow and their airports.

With many outdoor activities on the doorstep, this is a supremely relaxing place to stay – to gaze at the panorama, watch the shifting Scottish light or spot our local wildlife, while deciding on which walk, climb, cycle route, shopping, distillery, golf course, garden or gourmet restaurant to visit (or just which book or magazine to read!).

Chill or celebrate or both: with a huge lounge and fabulous kitchen and diner as well as 5 bedrooms, this is the place to holiday, for a week or two at a time or for that celebratory weekend with family, friends or gal-pals (when we’ll provide you with champagne to start the celebrations off). Because we’re centrally heated, we have gowns for lazing or wellington boots at the door,; your choice – laze or take a 10 minute, 1 hour or all day walk or cycle from the house.

Special interest and corporate: this is also an ideal space for small team or motivational meetings, and we can arrange cooks and facilitators. Film crews, fishing or golfing parties, climbers, artists, wildlife watchers and garden enthusiasts will also find us an ideal base for pursuing your interests, with plenty of choice nearby. We can arrange ghillies, mountain leaders, teachers and therapists for your particular passion.

Clach Mhor means big rock, or more colloquially the great stone, and you’ll see it just outside the front entrance. There’s plenty of parking off the lane to the house.

This is our home-from-home, very well equipped and furnished to a very high standard, with a combination of contemporary and Scottish decor, making it a supremely relaxing place to stay.

              Year Purchased: 2005

              About the owner: We walked into the lounge at Clach Mhor and looked at the view and knew that we had arrived in heaven. This is no house only available for visitors, its our home too. We work hard during the week and we love chilling out at Clach Mhor, with our dogs (Ghillie and Beinn). Our friends seem to like visiting too! I hope you feel the same and that your stay at Clach Mhor is all you want it to be.

              Why the Owner Chose Crieff:
              We love this countryside location - we're in the Highlands but its just so accessible to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

              The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
              The house is secluded, but only 15 minutes walk to the village. Clach Mhor has been built into the wooded hillside with all rooms having south facing, uninterrupted stunning views. The lounge has a fabulous floor to ceiling 25 foot panoramic window to gaze at the world from – in season including the local ospreys, red kites, red squirrels and deer on the hills opposite. In the sun, these windows open to make the living room into a “boat deck”, with safety rail.
