Beds were very uncomfortable, picnic table was covered in broken glass, broken windows were taped, front door screen broken & duct taped. All-around disappointing. I would not recommend this property to a friend or relative.

We stayed there early last week. This was the worst house we have ever stayed in. The amount charged for the 2 nights was almost the same like any other house in that area. Pros: Bathrooms are maintained and hot water is good. ACs work fine. TV works fine Cons: Sofa needs to be upgraded. Beds are too springy. Not enough cushion Kitchen is the worst. All the utensils need to be upgraded. Kitchen is too unorganized. Some of the shelves are broken and it was hard for us to manage our kids around the kitchen. The past reviews provided by other people before us was totally misleading.

Owner response: Dear Guest; We are very saddened to hear your experience was less than what you expected- as you mentioned yourself- we have been getting nothing but compliments. I'm glad that other than the soft beds and unorganized kitchen everything else was in order....... oh- and the couch which has been loved by so many in the past. Thank you for letting us know, we will look into the 'condition' of these items and make alterations as time permits. It is difficult to observe and respond if necessary, to the conditions left by tenants before one's arrival (such as yours), if we are unaware. Thank you again, we hope you will reconsider and stay again with us in the future.

Clean and cheap
Clean and cheap
The home was clean, cheap and just fine for a weekend stay at the Dells. It's a lot cheaper than anything else (and was the only thing we could find on such short notice). The place does smell like moth balls so if you have a sensitive nose beware. Otherwise, it was fine. Everyone loved the huge sectional.

My friends and I decided to take our 5 year old boys on a "father/son" weekend getaway. This place was perfect for it. Location was great. Close enough to the Dells to spend a day, far enough from the Dells to see a sky full of stars. It was clean and had everything we needed. The one down side was you could not fish from the back yard. The cattails and weeds were high and even if they weren't there, the pier that is in the picture is broken. You really need a boat to do any kind of fishing on this lake, the public pier is big enough for only about 3 people.

Could not have been better!
Could not have been better!
Although finding this place proved to be slightly difficult, if you have a GPS, it should be no problem. The Area is very secluded and peaceful; its just past the craziness of the dells (but not too far) and right on the boarder of woodland country. The property is huge! There is tons of room for outdoor activities! I would advise taking advantage of a fishing pole for the lake which is clear and loaded with smallmouth! the home itself was very accomodating. it more than comfortably housed 10 college students and all of our "activities". Rarely did the house not have something that we needed, so going to town for supplies was seldom an issue. It is very clean, and well furnished. It also holds the record for the best spring break i have ever had, the lake was cold, but the stay was incredible! I reccomend to all.

My group decided to choose this place as a getaway again because we remember all the good times from a year ago. One more time we were very pleased with the business and the condition of the cottage. Highly recommended! =)

Exterior needs some work
Exterior needs some work
When we pulled up we realized why the owner didn't include a photo of the exterior of the mobile home. Some work could be done on sprucing up the exterior and replacing the broken patio table. The interior had an odd odor. The rest of the place was nice, plenty of room, clean and well supplied. We turned the three window air conditioners on and headed to town for a few hours and the place cooled down nicely.

Owner response: Greetings; Thank you for staying at Cattails Cove, our second home, located in the WI Dells. Too bad you were there during the hotest spell of the year! There are pictures of the outside on the Home Away website, listing #364437. Our apologies for the need of sprucing up- our yard guy asked if he could wait until after the hot spell to weed whack. The broken leg on the patio table is due to a renter's lack of respect for other people's property and should be repaired by now- or soon, again, dependent upon the weather. We hope you were able to make use of the picnic table that is there also. How about the inside back door- had that been replaced before you got there? More damage that needed repair, perhaps that was part of the odor- that & the moth balls that are used to keep 'unwanted guests' out...... but after 10 minutes inside you do not even notice that smell anymore. Am glad to hear that the place cooled down for you, and hopefully everything else was to your satisfaction. Too bad you were there at the hotest days of the year, yet we are very pleased to know the trailer was able to keep you comfortable in that extreme heat and humidity. Please stay with us again- you will find that we do keep up on repairs. A note to guests: Please be aware that you are staying in other people's homes and that there may be guests arriving just hours after you leave. Often there is only time for 'routine' cleaning. Please be courteous and respectful to our homes, and to future guests.

About the owner: Cindy, my partner works at a nursing/rehab facility as an Activity Director. I (Gus) am an accountant. Both of us LOVE to escape to nature. We fish, boat, swim, hunt and hike. Foods on the BBQ just seem to taste better. We LOVE the out of doors- the camp fires, s'mores, memories of & time spent with friends and families. However: we also like to feel clean and 'settled'. Now that we are older we still like 'camping'- but desire the comforts and amenities of a home too.
Why the Owner Chose Wisconsin Dells:
We chose this area because of the year round activities and beauty that surrounds it. The area is simply beautiful. The Wisc Dells is recognized as a premier resort area in the Midwest. Their main attractions are the numerous water parks. I equate the Dells to Las Vegas in that there is SO much stimuli to take in. There is SO much to do and SO much activity that one can become almost dizzy trying to grasp it all. However- the actual physical location of the Wisc Dells, is in a part of WI that has 'Dells' and bluffs, and numerous waterways! The area is rich with beauty, heritage and folklore. Our second home is just 7 minutes from the hustle, bustle and activities of the Dells which we can partake in as we please. Most of the attractions do NOT require you to stay at their facilities in order to enjoy their offerings. We can acquire passes for the water parks even though we are not staying at their hotels/resorts. State parks, hiking and ATV/ snowmobile trails are all around us. The bluffs have great 'mountains' for winter skiing and snowboarding. Castle Rock County Park, open year round, is 12 miles from us. This 70 acre park is on the 4th largest body of water in WI. The park has a designated swimming area, and boat launch. At the end of the day- or 'just because' we can retreat to our sanctuary of calm, peace and tranquility. Our land is 3/4 of an acre- located on a 'cove' of Fawn Lake with oodles of Cattails. Fawn Lake is a non-motorized lake- with excellent fishing (pan-fish). We can clean, cook and eat the fish, all in our yard, while watching the wild-life. The night sky was another attraction for us. The stars are so bright! With all that tranquility and fresh air we sleep VERY sound and restful. The home is complete with all amenities can be used year-round. This means we can use the home for hunting, skiing, snowmobiling too.
The Unique Benefits at this Mobile Home:
Cindy, my partner works at a nursing/rehab facility. Repeatedly she hears that the residents would love a place to vacation (near the Dells)- that is peaceful to retreat to at the end of the day AND allows them to take their pets. Thus: we allow pets. We have an enclosure under the pines in a secluded portion of the back yard for pets. This allows owners to leave the property, and their loved pet behind, with no worries of potential damage to the property.
