Blue Ridge Parkway Lodge with Long Range Views
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Fabulous long range views looking out east of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Fully furnished luxury log home constructed with 10 inch round logs in 2009 situated on 30 acres. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths with stone and marble finishes and a huge kitchen with commercial grade appliances. The gas stove has 6 burners with a griddle & double oven. Paper products, plastic wrap & aluminum foil are provided along with basic spices. Bathrooms have walk in showers with body sprays, rain fall shower heads, in addition one shower has water-fall and massage heads. Bathrooms have heated tile floors, the remainder of the house has tigerwood floors. A large teak dining table to accommodate the family dinner and a 25 foot vaulted ceiling in the great room with windows to the peak accented by mammoth logs, will put you in a mountain lodge state of mind. This is a split plan: one king size bed in the north bedroom NOW WITH SLEEP NUMBER BED with a private bath. There are 2 bedrooms on the south side that share a bathroom: one master bedroom with a king size bed and one with a queen bed. The Cabin is not equipped with Air Conditioning and we have never needed it.
There is plenty of wood split & easily accessible for a roaring fire on a cool night (we get lots of those even in the summer). Many board games are available for rainy days; Netflix for movies (and even workout videos) and Pandora for music. Golf is nearby in Jefferson and in Boone. Blowing Rock is a must see with numerous mountain themed shops as well as the best restaurants anywhere. The West Jefferson Art Council has a 'gallery crawl' which gives art lovers an opportunity to stroll through the art district to discover one of a kind paintings, sculptures, etc. There is also a cheese factory and farmer's market there.
Merlefest is a 4 day event in Wilkesboro that honors the memory of instrumental virtuoso Eddy Merle Watson and the contributions of Doc and the entire Watson family to the musical traditions of the area. This is the largest folk music festival in the United States with blues, folk, Cajun, jazz and old time music showcased. In 2013 it is scheduled for April 25th-28th not to be missed!!
Cascade Falls is a short drive south on the Parkway. It has a picnic area & overlook but the best part is the hike to the falls. Along the way, the park service has numerous signs explaining the types of foliage that blanket North Carolina. It is also a must see!. Further away in Jefferson is the Mount Jefferson State Park. On the drive to the top, there are a couple overlooks that are awesome. You can see to Tennessee & Virginia on a clear day. The picnic area at the top is very good with a fireplace & grill. Perfect for a family reunion. There are hiking trails at the top as well.
If you want to venture farther afield, try out the Virginia Creeper Trail. It was an old railroad bed that was made into a bike trail. You can rent bikes & the rental company will take you to the top of the mountain. Then you bike to the bottom. It has such a gentle slope that you hardly have to pedal. Numerous bridges over streams make perfect photo ops or even fish (with appropriate licenses). There are a couple places to stop for lunch. Plan on getting an early start & taking most of one day.
The sunrises are spectacular, each one is different so be sure to get up early and have your camera ready. Come relax, hike and share this one of a kind log home with your loved ones. Enjoy!

It is so beautiful we hate to call it a cabin, feels more like a lodge. Great views, hiking, sunrises, evenings on the deck under the propane heater. Dont miss the resturants and shops in Blowing Rock. We would highly recomend this for your next mountain vacationRecommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We were a group of 4 couples. The Lodge was absolutely perfect in every way. David and Karan are excellent communicators throughout the entire process. They are lightning fast to respond to any question or concern. The photos in the listing barely touch how beautiful the view is. The sunrises are spectacular every day, and watching the leaves change in the valley below was awe inspiring. My family rents houses on vrbo at least a few times a year and this place is by far the best one we have had. It is on our permanent list of places to return to. The kitchen is a fully stocked cooks kitchen. This is huge for someone like me that is an avid gourmet cook. This kitchen was perfect. Miles of counter space, every last detail thought out. Every time a drawer looking for a utensil I found it. The appliances are also top of the line and perform beautifully. The bedrooms are huge!!! Beds are divinely comfortable, with fantastic all cotton sheets and comfortable pillows. Definitely 5 star worthy. The bathrooms are also quite divine, and very private. Heated floors keep your feet toasty when it's cold outside, and the showers are great and very relaxing. Did you forget to bring something, don't worry, it's already there waiting for you. The Lodge is so clean that you can eat off of the floor! The place is pristine and maintained well above what would be expected. This is not a dusty, musty, mountain log cabin. This is a Luxury Lodge perched high on a mountain top that will cater to every need and desire you may have.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Our goal has always been to build a base of repeat guests. To do that we know we must exceed your expectations in every way. We will continue to enhance the "Log Cabin Experience" We are humbled by your praise and honored to have you as our guests. Thanks Dave & Karan

This place was absolutely amazing! Gorgeous view and great time with friends. It was secluded; however close enough to enoy our canoe trip on the New River. The kids loved the loft and spent the evenings playing games, while the adults enjoyed good food, beverages, and conversations ;-) The kitchen was fully stocked with kitchen equipment, which made making meals a breeze. We can't wait to come back again! Thank you so much for a fantastic weekend!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We had a fantastic time at Karen and Dave's beautiful home. The view is fantastic! We sat on the porch, drank coffee, and enjoyed the quiet. The kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed to make meals with. We had fun playing Trivial Pursuit, dominoes and cards! The house has all the modern necessities, but it's very cozy and homey. My husband loved listening to Pandora. Karen and Dave are very organized and have anticipated everything that makes staying here work. The information sent to us gave us alot of important details that were helpful. They were very easy to work with. It could not have been a better weekend-we're definately coming back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This beautiful mountain home and landscape were made even more beautiful by the snowfall that we had on our getaway weekend. My husband, one of our son, and his friend enjoyed this property very much. Being from WI and MN, we weren't phased by the lady bugs that were also visiting the "cabin" that weekend, but over the course of the three days we were there, my son killed seven wasps. Probably a nest that needs to be taken care of. We had a little bit of trouble with connectivity when using Netflix (lots of buffering) so would probably bring DVDs next time for the evenings. The owners were very accessible and helpful when we had questions. I would definitely recommend this property. The kitchen is nothing short of amazing. Sunsets are gorgeous and worth getting up for - even for a non-morning person like myself. I actually set my alarm to get up and take photos! Beds are comfortable. Do be sure that you have a 4WD or AWD vehicle if you are visiting during the snow season!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Sorry about the wasp, we have waged a very aggressive anti wasp campaign and will monitor that very closely. The sunrises are very moving. No two are the same and I fine myself taking photos each morning. Glad you had a great time and we look forward to having you back. Dave & Karan

We were a group of 8 adults looking for a place to stay during our yearly ski trip. This was our first time staying at this cabin and all I can say is that it not only met but it exceeded our expectations. There was plenty of space and the open layout allowed us to spend a lot of time together. The location of the cabin is very isolated which is nice but it does take about 30 minutes to get to any restaurants or stores so make sure you do you shopping early. The view from the cabin is simply breath taking. Everyone in our group made it a point to wake up early to watch the sun rise every morning. Everything about our stay was excellent and we cannot wait until next years trip. This place will surely become our new spot.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My wife, two young boys and myself loved this luxury cabin, which has spectacular views and good hikes all around. It has been perfectly fitted out by Dave and Karan - brilliant kitchen - with great attention to detail while retaining an authentic rustic character. Our kids spent hours reading in front of the roaring fire. From here we made trips to the Apalachian ski resort, which was terrific, and to West Jefferson. The cabin is right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, which added to its appeal.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: We grew up in the mountains with changing seasons. This brings us back to our roots where we can relax and enjoy the scenery. The spring brings rhodedenrons & mountain laurel blooms and then there is fall: the colors are spectacular. We are literally 'on' the Parkway so a drive is possible within minutes.
Why the Owner Chose West Jefferson:
We chose to buy in this area for the outdoor activities and as it is so close to our favorite scenic drive: The Blue Ridge Parkway. We are centrally located to Boone, Blowing Rock, the Jeffersons & Wilkesboro.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
You won't find a better view anywhere not to mention the brilliance of the night sky. The Appalachian University Dark Sky University Observatory is only a mile away. The Milky Way Shines bright and looks like a cloud in the sky. The sunrise will inspire you. The cool evening breezes will have you reaching for another blanket. Hiking starts at the back door and goes down the drive to a country road or across the field to the Mountain to Sea Trail.
